  1. Cheers richard thats pretty much what i needed to know, just one question and it's probably a daft one, I take it that the p100 strut insert is from the front suspension and the spring is thrown away as well as the collars etc. So just the bottom part of the damper is left which i press the old collar onto ? do you have any info on front springs such as length or poundage. cheers Dave

    Mot

I had the same issue, the tester used the age of the reg '86 to decide emissions and tested for CO2. Part of the test he just told the computer it had passed when he hadn't even done anything! I was asked the weight of the car, i said 680-720 kgs and he adjusted the brake roller there and then. Only the week before they had MOT'd a Tiger and had to do a similar thing. Dave
  3. Cheers Jamie, do you have any info on the front springs, length or poundage? my rear susp is all sierra so will be replacing with like for like to keep the costs down i've heard that the XR4i suspension might fit but not sure if this willl lower the rear too much Dave
  4. does anyone have any info on exmo suspension? i want to upgrade or renew the front and rear and would appreciate any advice or knowledge anyone has. cheers Dave
  5. Calling all exmo owners and experts, I need to replace the suspension on the exmo and need some info. MOT Failure!! For now, I'm going with standard sierra dampers (Poss koni's) and springs on the rear but does anyone know which coilovers were used on the rear of the later mk2 or upgraded versions. Obv GBSC might still have some in a dark corner so will be ringing later, any idea's of cost? I've searched on the forum and have figured that the P100 donated its dampers and assume it was the rear dampers, but what springs were used, rating and length? Has anyone used something different? How do they all fit together? I haven't got the car with me as i'm overseas and have a couple of months to source parts but i want to make sure i get the correct one's first time as time at home with the car and gf is limited! Lastly, machined ARB or Tie-Bars? cheers in advance Dave
  6. is now looking for new suspension after most of his failed the mot, damn.

  7. hi, i transported my exmo from oxford on a 16 x 6 trailer and had loads of space spare. i've just measured mine and from the spare wheel hoop / number plate to the front of the nose cone is 12 feet exactly. i reckon a 13 ft will be ok as long as the tie down points are well located. regards dave
  8. its also on the top right side of the screen under the rhocar banner and search facility, called View New Content. i had to ask Matt Moo !
  9. anyone who is after some weather gear for a 2b might want to look here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Robin-Hood-2B-Kit-Ca...=item4aa0a7e968 not sure how to hyper link so just cut and paste into the bar at the top ideal as the vendor will be at stoneleigh as well
  10. hold on a sec, didn't they do a square section chassis about 6/7 years ago, lolocost or something! just my penny's worth. i agree it doesn't compare to the north west hoodies comparison table but it could be a chassis with mk bodywork or something. dont write off the whole car, there's loads of experience and help just a few clicks away. folk here have everything from hoods, mk's, westies, quantums and a few more interesting se7ens as well. you wanted a car that you could build and thats what you have. not every car is simply bolted together like a caterham, some have to be built. Give it a go first and if you decide that its not for you then readvertise it, i doubt you will lose out money wise. dave

    Top Gear! Again

There's a bit about the Top Gear run in this months Complete Kit Car on page 7. Quote "And, unlike the Ferrari (FXX) the ultima could be- and was- driven to and from its track test, even negotiating those all inportant speed bumps!" There's even an 800 bhp monster to unleash yet, as the test car was a lowly 720 brake. mental !

    Build Manual

hi wilky, i'll try to get some more photocopies tomorrow. i've got the kit list and build manual plus the video's on dvd. i'll have to get copies first. PM me so i can get your address. there are a plethora of people with years of experience on this site who can answer almost every question. dont be concerned if you think its a daft question, 9 times out of 10 someone also wants to know the same thing. as anyone on the site will tell you, if you join Rhocar (£10) you will find find local people in your area who have built their own cars. i cant help with IVA unfortunately as my car was pre-built but the experts are only a few clicks away. regards Dave

    Build Manual

hi, i've got a photocopy of the S7 monocoque manual from one of the guys from Thames Valley.(we both have Exmo's). If you PM me with your address i'll send you a copy of it, the front suspension parts are different but its essentially the same otherwise, i also have somewhere the 3 video's on dvd, i'll try to burn off copies on the laptop and send you them as well, may take a day or two though. Dave
  15. small hole in the bottom should work ok
  16. try using a pringles tube from twice the distance !
  17. hi, yep thats exactly the sort of thing i had in mind aswell, problem is the metal sheet that comes from the chassis to the nosecone from below. it over extends and i dont want to cut it and find out i needed the metal. i'm thinking of keeping the zeus fasteners and hinging as well to reduce the amount of holes in the lower part of the nosecone. also if i hinge the no. plate it might not be visable when bombing around the roads
  18. Hi all having recently fitted 4 quick release (zeus) fasteners, i've decided that i'd rather hinge the nosecone on my Exmo. However, i'm not sure on the best way of doing this, have any of you carried out this modification and if so have you any pics? What type of hinges did you use, household, piano or specialist? Thanks in advance Dave

    Mot's

thank goodness that we aren't in Northern Ireland, you have to present a clean car that is also clean underneath, normally done with a jet wash, and if they dont think its clean enough the testers will refuse it. Also the government controls the centres so they aren't normal back street garages. most of the people i know used to get the ferry to Scotland as it was less hassle.
  20. hi all i was passing the Lambert Arms today went inside and introduced myself and got a tour/poke around, the inside is the same layout, just revised and very tastefully done, it's totally up market. There is no longer any parking round the back in the garden, instead there is extended parking along the side. There is a very steep entrance into the car park so i'd use the road entrance 10 yards down after the pub. My lowered beemer ground out and i know the Exmo will probably beach itself. The bear garden is now enclosed totally with 42 rooms added to the pub with access to the garden through a walk way. Watlington now has those axle width speed bumps that you can run over but take out your sump. Be carefull they are rather high. Graham i know you take the Phoenix that way. Chris, i'll pm you All in all its very nice and i'm sure you will all approve.. Dave

    Oh No!

hi all, i've just come up with a similar sort of problem yesterday, whilst entering all of my details through Admiral multi car insurance on the web my exmo came up still registered as a sierra, although all my docs state Robin Hood sports car, mot, v5, tax disc etc.. should i be worried Also the premium of the multi car "discount" was £200 more than if i'd insured both individually.
  22. its exactly the same for me, bought a tatty exmo pre-built as i haven't got a garage, used it for a year as it was, then last june took it off the road for a full rebuild and respray. 15 months later and its back up and running almost complete except for the MOT, dash and boot. unfortunately my job requires me to spend time away from home, 4 months in the falklands (july to nov last year), and 4 months in Iraq (still here now) i will eventually finish it.... hopefully. time is the most frustrating factor for me
  23. hi, have you spoken to GBSC about any other model rear arch that might fit, i'm not sure but was the superspec GRP on the back arches. i saw lolocost had a load of spare parts ages ago and Kit Parts Direct are now running the spares section. at the very least a new cheap arch would give you 2 fillets to use if carefully cut up. how about making your own arch from stainless like the 2B with the GRP edges there must be a multitude of ideas out there! hope this helps Dave
  24. Snapperpaul, Do you have any info on how much you had the ARB machined by? what was the final thickness? Was the top and bottom machined or just one side? I'd love to do this to my Exmo once i've done the re-wire and the dash and the boot and the ....... have you got any before and after pics please
