  1. If might pay for the alloys!
  2. Design your own from scratch. Exo skeleton. A great advertisement for red 7 engineering.
  3. Its a great looking car. I can understand your reasons. I saw some great cars that got me thinking about changing mine. I really like the mr2 based Avalanche and mx5 widow sports cars. Both body conversions. Is your next one Steam driven?

    Front Wing Stays

    GBS sell them.
  5. Ha, I'm in photo no.4 Couldn't make it in the kit as it still not quite road legal, plus it doesn't have 5 seats! It was a good day and as said earlier it only rained for a minute or two. Loads of older cars especially capri's and a 4.6 V8 Granada. The track was always busy and we got a vintage bus ride around the track which the kids loved. Let's make it bigger next year.
  6. Years subscription to complete kitcar magazine.
  7. Daft question, but which will sit out further. The 38 or the 15.
  8. That's what this club is all about.
  9. I've got roadster 7 cobras in my exmo which is a mono car. GBS do some similar for a good price.
  10. Quick update, my local motor factors supplied me with a replacement starter and wow it's small compared to the original. I rewired the ignition switch and dribbled some fuel directly into the carb and spun it up. The engine started on the second go, so it was definitely a dodgy starter motor. The one I got was an original spec 0.9 kW. The uprated ones on eBay look identical and are almost the same price. If I'm doing it again I'd go for the starter and alternator combo. Anyway the car starts and I gave it a quick blat down the road to check the car over, time for an mot now.
  11. Replaced the starter motor, threw a couple of gallons into the tank. Plugged an old pressure gauge in as I've still not yet fitted the dash properly. Test fired and then took on the second attempt. It's sat for 5 years so am well chuffed. Idle is a bit rough but a can of carb cleaner might sort that. Just got to bolt in the seats and dash and put it in for an mot. Woo hoo.
  12. Some smaller jobs on the dash and then fitting a starter motor and hopefully starting the engine for first time in 6 years
  13. I'm still waiting for his response so thought I'd ask on here too
  14. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-SIERRA-1-6-2-0-OHC-PINTO-HIGH-POWER-BRAND-NEW-UPGRADE-STARTER-MOTOR-82-86-/271765788262?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Model%3ASierra&hash=item3f4680d666 Could someone tell me if this is the same as my lucas 5M90 starter motor It also has 25368a on the casing. I can't find much on the web to help me. Cheers Dave
  15. I spent some time going through the previous suggestions and looked at my wiring diagrams. the ignition switch is wired incorrectly so I wrote everything down in plain English so I'd understand it and rewired the switch exactly the same as it originally had been when I started. Idiot!! I'll do it properly again tomorrow. As for the starter I think I'll just get a new one. I'm ringing a local shop tomorrow but probably can't get anything done until the weekend
  16. Ok I've got some direction for later once I'm back from the Dragon in laws. I'm thinking I don't have an earth from engine to chassis. I'll also try bridging the starter and bypassing the solenoid. Cheers guys
  17. I've definitely got the solonoid correct as per your picture. I'll have to look at the wiring at the switches to confirm its wrong. I have had slow starting in the past but that was before the rewire.
  18. Right. That's what I thought. Cheers
  19. OK I'll try that. Any ideas about the ignition. Should I only get 12v during the sprung loaded part of the ignition?
  20. I'll have to double check but I'm sure its good
  21. Hi guys. I'm at the stage in my rewire /rebuild where I am tryingto get my engine to turn over. The problem I have is that nothing is happening, no solonoid click or dimming of the lights etc I've got a good earth from battery to the starter body where it attaches on the chassis. Power from the battery to the solonoid and feeding power to the loom. A single cable that provides power once ignition is on. A connection from the solonoid to the starter motor. I thought that was all I needed, I have noticed that the single cable is permanently live on second ignition position where as I thought it should be on the sprung loaded position only. Regardless of that it should still be turning over right? I'm getting absolutely nothing. Not even the click from the solonoid. The engine hasn't run for several years but turns over by hand.
  22. Halfords do a slim line one for a tenner. We use them in the tintop but I'm sure they will fit. I'm intending to use them.
  23. How are the dampers mounted at the top. Are they mounted into the strengthened angle or have you fabricated a bracket for eyelets.
  24. With your fabrication skills, have you considered converting to double wishbone.
  25. It's an interesting article and highlights that it's not just about power gains but the whole package. Clutch, brakes and suspension set up are just as important. Still loving Streamers updates. Wish I could fabricate like he does.
