  1. Spotted this on another forum I frequent (VW T4 forum and with credit to the original poster there Simplepsy), might be of interest. http://www.woolworths.co.uk/web/jsp/...p?pid=50697087 http://www.woolworths.co.uk/web/jsp/...p?pid=50965559 1st link is for 500w halogen work lamps for £6.50 2nd link - 40 LED dual power work lamps - draw less power, smaller, less heat PLUS they can charge then use an internal battery. Don't know if it's an interweb only offer or if they're also instore but no doudt someone else will find out.

    1925 Alfa Romeo P2
  3. ...Pre 1990 minis that is. Bit cheaper here http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=33787 Most likely to be a UNF thread as it's a banjo fitting so the adaptor shown in your photo must be a tapered thread as I can't se a washer sealing the face against the manifold - could well be something like an air line fitting (as in compressor not BA)
  4. The Rover banjo bolt part number is 2A715 - which means it's been around for a while. You won't want to be buying a new one as they're about £18!!! The sealing washers are AED172 at about £1-50 each. As an alternative, the same part is used on Rover 800 brake servo, most Rover 200 and 400 brake servos (except those with ABS), on Mini and Metro Brake servo. Suprisingly it also seems to be used on the mini for the oil pressure pipe that goes from the oil filter housing where it bolts to the engine block, so there shouldn't be a shortage of suitable parts in the scrapyard. Or else buy this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MINI-METRO-TURBO-OIL...1QQcmdZViewItem I'll try and do a bit more digging and find some thread sizes.

    Loom Fixing

Tight enough so that it can't move and risk rubbing through, certainly not loose in the clip. A bit of slack between clips won't hurt so you don't need to stretch the loom before you tighten them.

Spotted this on another forum I frequent and not too far from you I think. http://www.nsra.org.uk/newforum/showthread.php?t=4135
  9. What about Custom Chrome in Nuneaton? Ok it's not in Staffs but they've been going 30 odd years and I've not heard a bad report about them. Might be worth giving them a call. www.custom-chrome.co.uk
  10. Just as well it wasn't in Clitheroe, Lancs.
  11. Chain drill through the door frame into the metal lock mortice adjacent to the lock bolt - use something like say 5mm. Chisel out remaining wood and use a hacksaw blade (or jigsaw if you can get in) to remove any remaining lock mortice until you can get the door to open - work carefully and remove only what you need to in order to open the door. Then remove the lock mortice in the usual manner - tidy up the damaged frame, cut a piece of scrap timber to fill in the damage, glue and screw it in position and fit a new lock mortice and lock to the door. I used this technique on my front door when the lock jammed - worked a treat and took about an hour start to finish. Don't bother trying to cut or drill the lock, you'l be there for ages and probably damage the door. Why damage a perfectly good wooden door - go for the frame instead, it easier and cheaper to repair if you take a bit of time with your drilling.
  12. Just push it 50 yards back into the lake - that ought to take care of it.

  14. Lancia Delta Integrale Evoluzione - the 5 stud wheels give it away as an Evoluzione. I'll get my anorak and be leaving now!

    Girls!

The girlfriend's car was in for a repair recently and she had a courtecy car from the body shop. Got a call at work that she was in Asda carpark and couldn't get reverse and so couldn't move out of her space. The loan car was a Corsa and she hadn't realised that you had to slide the collar up on the lever to get reverse!

    Short Oil Filter

How about one of these? http://www.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/shop...r=&PT_ID=77 I'm sure a bit of net surfing would allow you to find a cheaper equvalent.

Probably worth a ride out that night then so I avoid kids begging at the door all evening. Last year I had to hide in the kitchen with the missus and pretend we weren't in!
  18. Not sure whether it would make much difference to the insurance, but how about a sub K engine in a sub k car? Something like a 930cc talbot Sunbeam engine, nice and light as it's based on the imp engine and mated to a rear wheel drive gearbox. I don't think sourcing parts is especially difficult but the cost wouldn't be favourable compared to say a 1600 pinto so the extra cost might just be better spent on insurance unless you want to built something totally unique. Might go well if you could put it in a very light car though? Most sensible advice I'd offer is to run an old banger for a year or so that's cheap to insure and build up a bit of NCB while make a start building something a bit better (with a 1600 pinto in it as tom2 suggested).
  19. Sorted now! I knew it would be something obvious, I put my album data in an existing folder called images (well you would wouldn't you?) which was causing the problem. Moved them into their own unique folder and hey-presto it runs a treat.
  20. Well after a load more fiddling and fannying around I've done a complete re-install of yappa-ng but I'm still stuck with no news page on the front page a still a load of icon thumbnails displayed instead. My albums work a treat and aside from the aforementioned problem it does exactly what I want. I copied the news_eng.html file from the install folder to the main folder ( /photos - basically moved up one level) but it's not made any difference. I've re-run the setup utility and again no difference. I beginning to wonder if there's some other setting I'm missing here which makes it display the news file. I also read in the manual the bit about modifying the file - "You have to delete the complete HTML-header / starting HTML-tags: Beginning with the , inclusive !Do the same at the end of the file and ." but suprisingly this makes no difference either. I'm reluctant to try another complete re-install just on the off chance it works when in all probability I'm just missing the obvious. www.oldschoolannexe.com/photos shows what I'm currently getting - I don't want the "No Album" bit or the icon thumbnails - just a welcome message. Currently finding some consolation the the problems getting the website how I want it pale into insignificance compared to what I have to deal with working on the house (or the hood for that matter)!
  21. Or so I thought!!!! Front page looked like this www.oldschoolannexe.com/photos - so I deleted the images from the 4 pages of the album. This got rid of the images but also actually deleted the image files, however I could then see my news_eng.html on the front page - which was nice. Simple solution I thought - just ftp the image files back to the server, which has promply returned 4 pages of unwanted images on my frontpage, Doh! I've had a read through the MANUAL documentation but I'm none the wiser, I edited my news pags and re-submitted it but it hasn't had any effect. Am I missing something really obvious, or is it not that simple? Having got a few albums loaded I seem to be almost there but not quite. Quite looking forward to having to post a request for help related to the Hood.
  22. Wadda you know - it worked! Thanks.
  23. Righty-ho, I've used yappa-ng to reconfigure the image files and create a series of albums. Aside from a few teething problems like accidently deleting the image files for the icons, it seesm to work pretty much how I wanted. The only thing I can't seem to do is edit the text in the main body of the home page - I'd like to put my own welcome message and into on it - any ideas what to do? Thanks for the suggestions - I knew the solution would be out there somewhere.
