  2. The inventor of predictive text died yesterday. His funfair will be hello on a sundial.
  3. A fly came into the house yesterday, flew around a bit and then exploded. Turns out it was a jihadi longlegs.

That's an excellent result, sounds like 3 pretty simple fixes. Well done!
  5. These water issues aren't unique to Peugeot. The C6 shape Audi A6's (c2004 onwards) also suffer from water in the plenum panel at the base of the screen getting into the fusebox and ECU due to blocked drain tubes. Big bill to fix due to high parts cost and lengthy labour to swap parts (fusebox, harness and ECU are one of the first things fitted to the body when cars are built). Cleaning and unblocking of the tubes (dirt and leaf debris) was added to the official service schedule for these cars and allegedly Audi wouldn't accept warranty claims for water leaks unless the car had a full, documented service record.
  6. Next Wednesday, 26th Movember , 7pm onwards, Malt Shovel Pub, Coventry Road, Nr Stonebridge, Coventry, CV7 7HL https://maps.google....ingdom&t=m&z=15 Entrance to pub car park is off the A452 Chester Road heading North 50 yards from the island. The more sharp eyed of you who attend will notice that I'm doing my bit for Movember in support of Macmillan Cancer Charity. I won't be actively chasing people for donations so you're fairly safe but if anyone wants to sponsor me, I'll will have my sponsor form wth me. See you there!
  7. Basically because the stuff has to go somewhere and as cars become more complex and have more stuff on then, there's less sensible places left to fit things. The overiding concern is usually making the car easy to assemble because this is where the big time and cost savings can be made. I see these sort of issues every day at work and find it very frustating. Additionally, it's basically impossible to make anything 100% waterproof if it's mass produced so some some degree of water ingress is inevitable and things will ofter get damaged as a result.
  8. If it's taken on water and has corrosion issues in the wiring, it's not going to be an easy fix and probably not cheap however it's done. Given that it's a 7 year old car, this leaves 2 options: 1. Put 60spi in the front tyres and part-ex it for another car. 2. Cut his losses - torch it, try to make it look like the fire started in the fusebox and let the insurance sort it out. Sometimes it just isn't worth spending money on costly repairs.
  9. If you're building a 2B, don't forget to look at Colin Usher's site if you haven't already. Plenty on nice clear photos on there and very easy to navigate. I found it very useful during my build. http://www.colinusher.info/Robin%20Hood/index.html
  10. He's stated that it needs an IVA and that the plates shown on it don't come with the car - seems fair enough to me. I wonder what he'll do with the V5 now, selling V5's on their own is also a big no-no but if he'd managed to get that reg on a retention certificate, it could be worth a few quid. Most likely he'll just throw in the V5 if he sells the car and leave it up to the new owner to decide if they'll bother with IVA.

    My 2B For Sale

If Andi's happy with the car and what he paid for, isn't that all that matters?
  12. Unsuprisingly I didn't get any response to my question. I get the feeling it'll be back on Ebay again soon.

Dash fittings only need to be blunted if they project less thanm 3.2mm from the main dash surface, otherwise it's 5mm as Bob said. (IVA manual Past 12 Required Standard 1)

  15. I've just asked this: "When you say it's on the road with plates and no tax or MOT are necessary, is that because you've used a pre 1965 identity for the car and it's got Ford on the log book? Obviously this would be illegal and it would be better if your listing said that the car was complete, running and just needed and IVA and the car could probably be on the road and legal for less than £1000"
  16. Registered as a 1955 Ford 1998cc so he's used a Tax and MOT exempt identity to use it on the road. Highly illegal and I'm sure he knows it. Let see what he's got to say if I ask him about it.
  17. 165mm sphere for Interior projections, 100mm sphere for exterior projections
  18. Yes, 2.5mm - unless they project less than 3.2mm from the main surface in which case sharp edges should be blunted.
  19. Are your 12v power socket and the thingumyjig next to it IVA compliant in terms of radii - they don't look like it?
  20. Fixed scuttle on my 2b, nosecone hinges forwards but fitted on Screwfix lift off stainless steel hinges (so I can remove it completely without tools if I need to). Bonnet lifts off completely but also has a piano hinge along the centre so i can open each side individually if I want to. Seems to cover all eventualities. I cut my bonnet to make a fixed scuttle using a hacksaw initially and then just a hacksaw blade in a holder. Slower than an angle grinder but no sparks, no burning and dead easy to follow the edge of some masking tape used as a guide.
  21. Dolly or front end lift doesn't make it legal. Anything towed with its wheels on the road needs to be road legal which means cars need to be mot'd.
  22. I think that you probably do have the paperwork somewhere - I'm certain you'll find it once you get nearer to IVA.

    Drawing Software

You could buy a Premier loom and fit it in less time that it would take to draw one up on CAD.
  24. Yes, but what's the new kit?
  25. You need 2 original major components so it you don;t use the original FWD transmission then you need 2 from engine, front suspension, rear suspension and steering. Safest bet would be to use at least 3 from the donor vehicle, more bits carried over = less chance of a Q plate, plus obviously the kit itself - which needs to be NEW with evidence to support this (reciepts and looking new would also help). It's an utter minefield but more info is on the DVLA website: https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-registration/kitconverted-vehicles For DVLA purposes, a kit vehicle is one where ALL components are new - donor based kits like most of ours are kit converted vehicles as in the link above.
