  1. Hi Sid I have an old photo which you can just make out the ally blocks/ spacers mine had fitted (before I started the rebuild). Also have a look at the original info I have previously posted on Sliding pillars as that will give you loads of tips and pointers on what you should look out for. Looking good by the way
  2. I've heard the Beeb are rolling Brucie out as a stand in for the Stig.......something to appeal for the older generation New feature of a "Star on a motability thingy"
  3. Depends on spaces left but usually ok upto 1week in advance.
  4. It's the best place and way to find out...... You go at your speed.
  5. Was wondering what happened to my old 2B...sold almost 4 years ago and still looking good. I can see they have fitted some new wheels (reckon my originals were better though), but still going strong.....almost brings a tear to my eye. Funny how that 1st build holds a special place, despite the hours of cursing and waving of the hammer..... A decent car for someone http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lotus-7-Style-Robin-Hood-kit-Car-2009-/191597463811?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2c9c194903
  6. Is anyone planning on going along to this? I was thinking of popping up for the day. Looks like it could be a decent show http://www.outdoorshows.co.uk/yorkshire-modified-car-show.html

    Scotland 2015

Great vid's Paul... That 1st blast around the Naval port.... Definately brings back some good memories. If you do get Vid 4 running you will probably be able to hear my big ends trying to escape hah hah....Mus have been loud if Andy could hear it above his exhaust... Thankfully all sorted now and just waiting for next years trip.....Hopefully without the kind help or Mr Greenflag
  8. Real sorry you couldn't keep up....Pinto V Supercharged MX5.. No brainer lol Definately sounds like a piston ring issue. 150psi on 1,2,3 120 on 4 which then increases to 150 with oil down the bore (with throttle fully open).... Even 150 psi seems low, especially since the engine is supposedly only 10K miles since Vulcan rebuilt it...It may just be your compression tester showing low or valve clearances may need setting, so would be worth checking valve clearances first and re-doing compression tests before removing the head (so you have a good bench mark) Next step, take the head off to inspect the head/ gasket, valves etc just to be sure. Check the piston bore to make sure no nasty scoring/ pick ups. You can also check for excessive lateral movement of No4 Piston which may also indicate a broken/ stuck ring Money on a cracked or stuck ring If you need help mate, give me a call....engine hoist, stand and garage space at the ready if yo need it....I'm getting a dab hand at engine in/ outs this year...
  9. Well, its fast approaching the big 5...0 for me. So SWMBO asked what I wanted. After picking myself up off the floor when I mentioned something about a 30 yr old blonde.... She agreed to buy me a track day............. :yahoo: So just seeing if any one wants to join in the fun and join me at Blyton, giving the newly charged beast some proper welly... before the divorce proceedings begin.... Only kidding Sunday July 5th. Open pit lane, full circuit http://www.trackdays.co.uk/tracks/blyton-park.htm Catch me if you can
  10. Glad you got there mate. If you recall I went through 2 master cylinders on my clutch when first built... Dodgy girlings...not Chinese! Should save you a few quid in 11mm spanners as well... Ha ha
  11. Looks like I'm probably driving down Saturday. So will meet you guys there. I take it we don't need tickets in advance? Is there anyone else coming down from the North that wants to meet up? If not see you guys there 9.30-10 ish
  12. Hi Paul, Was seriously thinking about making the run, but just seen the forecast for Sunday and may sit this one out....car/ missue and me still drying out from the Stoneleigh run/ paddle . Saturday best of the weekend... So Coventry Motofest looking a strong possibility instead....if I can summon up the courage to negotiate the dreaded 50mph M1.....

  15. Well here's the first video from my car..a bit shaky as camera mount broke, but gives a good flavour of Isle of Skye and the stunning view, roads and weather....not all of it was hooninng around Plenty of time to take in the breathtaking scenery (hope link works)
  16. I'm travelling down early tomorrow morning so hope to see you there...fingers crossed NO GREEN FLAG help

  18. Topped her up with fluids and new filter.. Started 1st time....SHE LIVES!!!! All run up to temp no problems, so a gentle run on the cards this afternoon..So Stoneleigh now a goer...
  19. Knackered and ready for a few beers but a cracking day.... Massive thanks to my Dad for helping to remove & strip the engine, then picking up the new one. Also to Rob (CMA) for a real hard days slog today..... New engine picked up yesterday from roadrunner. With Robs help we managed to strip and clean the engine get it fitted and 90% sorted. So a few hrs tomorrow and some fluids and she should be ready to start up.....keeping everything crossed as nothing has been done to this engine
  20. Picking up another engine tomorrow so fingers crossed this time. Looks like a busy weekend
  21. Well Green flag did a sterling job and car got back home 5 hrs before us. Today took engine out and found big ends ( what was left) had gone and taken out the crank... So looks like engine number 3 this year!!!
  22. No issues with the boost or mapping, just a tired engine.... So new/ rebuild on the cards Fantastic day today riding passenger. Great roads bloody good beer as well lol... Car hopefully home approx same time as us tomorrow....
  23. Hi Steve... Had a chat with Mike at Roadrunner... 100% confident it was lack of oil.. Which does fit the issue. I had noticed over the past few weeks it was drinking quite a bit. So I was checking levels before setting off. However the past 2 days oils dropped to low mark despite topping up. Combine this with some roller coaster roads and fast cornering, recipe for brief oil starvation... Just think the engine was rather tired, probably rings or stem seals.. Mikes gonna sort me some bits for the bottom end so might start the rebuild over the weekend if all goes to plan... If I've learnt anything the past 12 months it's that something's aren't worth worrying over... Ah well at least I know the engine is easy to remove lol... Just enjoying the rest of the trip now. At least I managed the best driving route first... Something that I will always remember... Still grinning now even after all this...
  24. Thought things were going too well.... Fantastic 2 days on some truly amazing roads in the Highlands. After some rather fruity driving yesterday noticed a small knocking noise... Nothing I could do as in middle no where so had to carry on. Car drove fine but after 300 miles got real bad so had to stop. Fortunately near civilisation... 70 miles from Inverness!! Looks pretty certain a big end has gone..... Guess the unknown engine I fitted wasn't problem free after all... So my car is now somewhere in Scotland on the back of Mr Green flag.... I'm in the pub drowning my sorrows and now riding shotgun with Keith & Dan... I'm determined to finish this amazing trip. So looks like I'm gonna be busy when I get back. Gutted ......
