  8. Well a productive day today. Engine back out, stage1 racing clutch fitted. Engine back in, fired up and running in less than 4hrs..... Think I'm getting used to this engine removal malarkey lol.. Started to panic when I couldn't select gears, however Roadrunner mechanic Nick sorted it out when we realised clutch pedal throw was too much. All adjusted and working fine. Hope to get it back on the rollers next week to complete this saga... Fingers crossed.
  9. You aint been able to drive in the years I've known you so whats changed...
  10. Mx5 supercharged lol That's the way to go
  11. New engine in and running...... Only problem we had was a slipping clutch. Seems the new engine is a tad more powerful than the original. 1st run without doing any tweaks or set ups spun the wheels on the rolling road. 2nd run with 4 of us sat on the car it reached 195lb torque 7psi boost at 5k revs but clutch was slipping... Hmmm now engine is too powerful ( is that possible?) now need to pop engine out again and fit stage 1 racing clutch. Ho hum.... This project will be finished....can't wait to see final figures
  12. Depends on how good your medical/ Life insurance is..... I wouldn't risk it. I appreciate life too much Track days put even more strain on tyres than normal use....
  13. I'm thinking it will be even more of a bug catcher now..... Midges wont be fast enough to get out of my way
  14. WOOO HOOO....She lives :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: Got the replacement engine in yesterday, fitted in nicely. Put the charger back on and all connected up. Bearing in mind I do not have the provenance of this engine so was unsure if it was a runner. All looked good when I stripped it apart. New Head gasket, oil seals etc. Started 1st turn of the key Running as sweet as a nut.. Now on with the build again.....Big relief! Mike at Roadrunner and Dave at Canems are going to complete the mapping this week. Mike is also re-routing the coolant hoses to make them a neater fit around the charger. So if no more drama's engine should be sorted by the weekend. Next week I'm back at Roadrunner and having the intercooler fitted. Mike is fabricating some nice ally piping (something more for me to polish ) and having the wipers fitted. Soon be on the road.......I hope
  15. Hi Tommy, welcome to the world of kit cars. As others have said get along to the monthly meet for a bit of tyre kicking and chin wagging... You are more than welcome to pop around mine most evenings.

    Wipers

Been driving my Sr2 for the past 2 years with no wipers....I have just been applying liberal amounts of Rainex to the screen.... Works great above 40mph, but totally blind when following anyone. I have got the Mini wiper motor to fit on mine, just not got around to doing it yet as a slight chassis modification is required (cross rail under scuttle comes just where wiper boxes need to go). Roadrunner are using my car as a guinea pig (mine being the first Sr2 with a screen fitted) to do a few mods and get the wipers fitted over the next couple of weeks. So all being well I should be able to see what I'm about to hit now
  17. Same here Rich. Someone's been busy
  18. Rob speak to Carink in Deepcar. Right up their street
  19. I have a nice shiny OBX Racing aluminium lightweight crank pulley that will fit a MK1 MX5. According to the blurb it will give an extra 5-7bhp. Still in its box, never fitted. Cost me in excess of £80 from the states Looking for £40 + postage
  20. Andy Yes you are right...DO NOT SHOT BLAST!!!! As I have recently found to my cost :sorry: What was recommended as okay was having it aqua blasted then powder coated. However as I am short of the pennies now, I have gone for the standard spray can and laquer...lasted 2 years on my original cover okay
  21. Do you have to remove the battery to change the SIM? If so suspect bad contact. Definately sounds power related IMHO
  22. Mike at Roadrunner had an MNR come in yesterday to have new ECU fitted to its MX5 lump. Before starting any work he noticed a nice shiny freshly powder coated CAM cover. Asked the owner if it had been shot blasted, he said no it hadn't....mike asked him to check. Yep it had. The guy only fitted it the weekend and drove the car to Roadrunner from Bradford. Gonna drain oil and check for any damage tomorrow.... Unbeliveable...
