  1. Thank's for the advice, I shall order some and try and get someone local to thread the ends.
  2. Would any of these be suitable do you think? 3. Would anybody happen to know what the pivot bar in the top wishbone is made of, e.g. are they stainless or mild steel? It's been years since I last had them out and cannot remember. I need to make a couple of new ones as mine are worn.
  4. Please add Helen and myself to the list. Thanks, Nigel.
  5. I use a 90 degree and the sweep looks like this:
  6. If they are the original shocks then the large nut is actually 2 nuts locked together, a thick and a thin one: I made a couple of spanners from 5mm thick steel to undo the bolts: I have a series 3 with inboard shocks and the nuts are a bugger to undo but they do need to be loosened to release the spring compression.
  7. I usually go to Stoneleigh on the Sunday, see you there.
  8. I made one for my S3 using an american tow hitch that fits in a receiver which makes it removable; I used a sheet of 5mm steel that bolted on the boot floor and also extends onto the tunnel and it bolted there as well. A length of square tube was welded onto the sheet and is the receiver tube: The tow hitch had to be bought from the states: The hitch is held in place by a removable pin: The hitch fitted: The hitch removed and the hole covered: I use it to tow a small trailer and a trailer tent: It works well and the sheet of steel also reinforces the boot floor so it does not flex when the car is jacked up using the diff.
  9. The weather was sorted by Al again, nice and sunny, well done. Good to see you all again, my head just about survived the argument with the low ceiling beam! Being 6ft 3in can have its draw backs in an old pub!
  10. I fitted AVO to my series 3, cost £205 direct from AVO in 2005. Much better than the original RHE supplied ones. PA160/105 (16" open 10.5" closed) Stem Top Poly Bottom (0.5" bolt) 1.9" Spring 10" free length 175lb
