  1. i believe mine is plastic welded in place, so if you can find out what its made from someone should be able to cut out the old and fit a new one. I know someone had a clear panel fitted into thiers as a sun roof so if you search on here there might be more info.
  2. That looks good, what materials have you used, I have been making some mock-ups today in 6mm ply which is all I have in the garage at the minute. I don't want to make it too heavy but 6mm is a bit thin I think. Edit: just found it on your excellent build blog.
  3. i wouldnt duct air from around the exhaust into the cabin, if you have a leak it could kill you. Could you make a small matrix out of copper pipe and fittings. CBS do a matrix and fan that looks like its just copper loop with a fan blowwing through, if anyone has one they may let you measure up to make a copy.
  4. with the roof on my problem was keeping cool, I drove through winter as main car a couple of years ago and had to keep opening the door to get a cold breeze in.

    Xmas

merry christmas everyone, have a great time, i'm off to figure out how to get all the kid toys out of the packaging.
  6. Hi thanks for the quick reply, how much do you want for the lens? I had thought about using a door switch but thought i would try my luck first as i don't any of them that work either!
  7. Seasons greetings, Has anybody got a spare rear light cluster lens or the reflector from the middle they are willing to part with, I'm not in a rush, just want to tidy the rear and get rid of the bike reflectors I used to get through the last MOT. I'm also after a working hand brake switch off what I believe is the original sierra hand brake. If you have either (or both) can you please message me. Thanks in advance. Jamie
  8. i'm sure it would be possible, not done an iva so can't give any facts although I do know somebody whos father is a tester at the Beverley centre so will try and get more info for you next week. I am in the middle of rebuilding my Exmo and i'm comming to the conclusion i would have been better off starting a new Zero build for the amount its costing me, although some of it is down to the age of the car and original build methods used.
  9. are front marker lights needed for MOT, my exmo has never had them but has always passed, rears light up on side light switch but no front bulbs or even wiring. One tester questioned it but then looked and said 'it's ok they are the old sealed units they don't have them' I will be adding them as part of the rebuild, if I ever get time to start it.
  10. If you mean towing eyes, i have thought about fitting some too, although on the occasions when i've broken down the car has been pulled onto the flat bed via the roll bar. I was worried that if i fitted to the front suspension then the cable/bar/rope would pull across the nosecone and damage or even pull it off.
  11. well done and good luck with the test.

    Flip Nose

I think your best bet would be to mount a frame off the suspension buttresses to support the weight and give a pivot point, then fibreglass some brackets into the nose cone. I think you may need to make a frame to fix the nose to the bonnet too. I have seen some picks on here of a members mounting frame possibly in the garage section.

hello and welcome to kit car life/fun.
  14. Thanks for reply's I realised after reading florin's response that the relay isolates the washer switch if wired in parallel so the pump will not be triggered when the wipers are used on their own. no diode required. On the light dimming front I don't know the wattage of the LED in the CBS billet switch, CBS supply a 'dimming kit' which is just a resistor, short length of wire and three spade connectors. Basically the feed from the lights has the resistor to provide dim light, the second feed comes from the live out from the switch which bypasses the resistor and sends full power to the LED to give full brightness. What I wanted was the LED bright during daylight and dimmed for night driving but, I think I'm adding complication for no reason, and for the few LED's that would have it, I wont save a lot by buying the resistors and making my own, rather then buying the CBS kit.
  15. Hello electrical gurus, can anyone tell me the best way to get wash/wipe with a single button using a mini motor. I'm going to use a Lucas style 2 position rocker switch for the main 2 speed function and a billet switch from CBS for the wash. Do I just use a standard relay with diode to trigger the washer pump and the park feed on the wiper? I'm thinking the diode will stop the pump running every time I put the wipers on. Also, does anybody know the what ohms the resistor needs to be to dim the bulb when side lights come on? thanks.

    Bike Carb Manifold

I recently had quotes from Bogg bros and danST, both very similar but Boggs included strip and clean of free issue manifold. If I could afford it, I'd go to Bogg Bros and let then do the full fit and set up, as done to a friends fiesta which was spot on.

    Proff. Sid Watkins

Sad news, if it wasn't for him I doubt Alonso and a few others would be around today after some recent crashes. R.I.P.
  18. Halifax screwed me with a 0.5% increase a few months back despite no BOE change stating the increased running cost of mortgages. How have the cost gone up? its all automatic, I work every hour I can and they take it off me by standing order, no human intervention. Tried looking round for other lenders but they don't like the fact we had major flooding in 2007 and don't have any deposit. What really annoys me is we're all still paying for the banks through QE from Bank of England, the government would have been better off giving everyone £500 and say buy something to cheer you up and boost the economy.
  19. running a car that needs 98ron I'm used to paying around 5p/l more then normal unleaded in Hull but was shocked when I went to cornwall last week, garage on A30 didn't have a super pump so settled for 95 Ron @ 151.9p !!!
  20. not sure if sub k is anything like exmo but mine has the big hoop mounts a bracket just inside the top of rear arch and goes at the front and the inner hoop fits inside and pivots off the big hoop to the back which fixes with Velcro stitched into the roof. the roof is then tensioned by pulling the two hoops back together.
  21. looking good, atleast you now have both options if needed.

    Pinto Fuel Pump

I seem to remember something about different thickness spacers on the pump, you may have thick spacer and short pushrod. I think the spacer is to stop heat soak from the engine. or, I may just be typing bo!!ocks....
  23. I had the sierra original mounted in the firewall but it means all the fumes from the engine bay gets blown into the car. I found that when I had the roof up I didnt need the heater on as I cooked anyway. A plumbed demist would be usefull though.
  24. I have the std sierra manifold at the minute, I spoke to GBS at the last show and just get the same response for everything Ive asked them, just a shrug and a well it might be around this price but can't say untill we've made it. I've thought about the eBay 3 piece units then getting it modified but it's a gamble, and I don't have the money to play with. Hope you have better luck finding someone.
  25. Just after some info, the Exmo was running an ESC2 loom with random plugs everywhere, manifold heater and a 12v coil and points distributor. I'm currently working out what’s needed to totally rewire the car after ripping out the old loom in anger at the number of shorts, broken wires and smoking joints that I was getting. I plan to run megajolt and bike carbs but would like to have the facility to run the standard carb and distributor until I can fit the trigger wheel and afford the manifold for the carbs. Can I just run a fused switched live to the coil and dissy? Getting to the point of being bogged down with detail and need to start ordering switches and wire etc this is one of those daft questions I cant seem to find an answer for so any advice is welcome. Jamie
