  1. Dean, make sure you come over and have a gossip with me, I want to see your car and I need to know whats going on at the old firm. Apologies I did not catch up with you at Stonleigh; I saw you, when I got back you were gone. Derek.
  2. I went here..Fabric £5.99 per meter 1.5mtrs wide. They do black as well as the colours shown. Just finished 1/2 doors and a new surrey. Really chuffed stitching it was difficult but I enlisted a professional at Boat Hoods Direct at Redhill Marina Nottingham but I'm sure there will be somewhere around where you are to do it for you. Made up a card template for the doors. Allowed 1.5" all around for a turnover. Cut V notches in the corners so not to build up too many layers. Then cut a 2" strip to cover from the edge which hides all the cutouts especially around the curve of the rear wing then sewed all together.
  3. Due to a sudden family bereavement we will not be going today. Apologies for not being there. Derek.
  4. At the moment it seems just you and me are interested. Let me know if you can make it. I thought around 12:30 ish , at the moment the weather for Sunday doesn't look too good, that can change though. Looking at Ian and Phil's reply I wonder if it would be better on another Sunday? Say 29th then the last Sunday in the month would that be better? Derek.
  5. Anyone interested in meeting up at the Black Horse in Foxton on Sunday 15th May. Not planned a run out as yet but will see if there is any interest, or just a tyre kicking session. Derek.
  6. I had the same problem, misfiring banging and popping. It was the earth.... The metal had rotted away inside the insulation but the earth ring was still attached to the insulation so it was not at all obvious. If a replacement does not show up let me know and I will have a root around. Derek.
  7. All the very best Ian. Hope you had a cracking day. M&D
  8. Brewery? Sounds good to me. Count us both in please Steve.
  9. Well I never, my sister sent me the exact same message word for word from Madrid and like you she has never been there. We think it was her Facebook account that was hacked as most of her FB friends got the message.
  10. We are booked onto the same ferry 12:00 out and 12:01 back.

    It's Fixed

Get well soon mate. Hope your recovery is as quick as my knee has been. Done 2 weeks ago, the pain I had before, gone like magic.

    Job!

    Well done Jon, congratulations.
  13. We can only make Friday - Sunday but providing the hood makes it back from France in one piece we will be there.
  14. Hi Andi, If you decide to pull the head I have a valve spring compressor you can borrow. Its not too difficult to get off and back on, and it is much easier to adjust the valve clearances with the head and assorted gubbins out of the car. (IMHO). You will need a set if new head bolts and gaskets as well. MMMmmmm perhaps carry on trying with it on!!! Let me know. Derek.
  15. The swirl chamber fitted inside the tank seem to be positioned off centre (i.e. too near one end), is that correct ? The swirl chamber if it is fitted in the bottom of the tank only has to supply fuel when the tank is low and the G force is sending the remainder of the fuel away from the pickup. If the swirl pot is separate from the tank you may need a second pump to fill it from the tank. Which fuel pump and tank pick-up do I need, has an equivalent been used on anything more recent than the Sierra ? This is fuel pump I used. Mine is on the SOHC but I beleive it is the same set up just the other way around. IE intake on the right exhaust on the left. Haynes manual for the DOHC version. I think its this one. Where in South Derbyshire are you? Derek.

    Midland Meet

We arrived just after 1 so missed you by a few mins. Late leaving home; had to attend to a rampant Berberis, it fought back, spiking me through leather gloves even when it was defeated and going into the compost bin. Andi turned up just after but it was a bit too cold and started to rain so we left about 2 ish. Sorry we missed you Jess, perhaps next time.

    Midland Meet

Metcheck says its going to be mostly dry but may be a bit chilly. The boss says we can go so.... See you there.
  18. As far as I remember we were always on a route; just that the route we were on did not agree with the one that was planned. Sounds good to me, I have always wanted to drive the Hood down the M50! (Long story).
  19. Thanks to Lesley and Steve. It was good to see you make the best of the weekend and overcome the "flipper" Derek would have been like a bear with a sore head (dead mardi as they say in this area). Hopefully Lesley will be back on the stronger stuff at Stafford with her Chauffer hat left at home. Thanks for the escort to the A46 - journey home was a doddle from that point. A great time had by all Marilyn and Derek
  20. Subject to Marilyn being able to get that week, we are very interested; perhaps a room in either Coury or Dupres House would be good.

    Kimbolton Country Fayre

Thanks Martin for organising the tickets and the weather. Great show saw some stunning cars. Esp the Aero 8 with the flip flop paint.
  22. Job Hunt 1. My first job was working in an Orange Juice factory, but I got canned. Couldn't concentrate. 2. Then I worked in the woods as a Lumberjack, but just couldn't hack it, so they gave me the axe. 3. After that, I tried being a Tailor, but wasn't suited for it mainly because it was a sew-sew job. 4. Next, I tried working in a Muffler Factory, but that was too exhausting. 5. Then, tried being a Chef - figured it would add a little spice to my life, but just didn't have the thyme. 6. Next, I attempted being a Deli Worker, but any way I sliced it... couldn't cut the mustard. 7. My best job was a Musician, but eventually found I wasn't noteworthy. 8. I studied a long time to become a Doctor, but didn't have any patience. 9. Next, was a job in a Shoe Factory. Tried hard but just didn't fit in. 10. I became a Professional Fisherman, but discovered I couldn't live on my net income. 11. Managed to get a good job working for a Pool Maintenance Company, but the work was just too draining. 12. So then I got a job in a Workout Center, but they said I wasn't fit for the job. 13. After many years of trying to find steady work, I finally got a job as a Historian - until I realized there was no future in it. 14. My last job was working in Starbucks, but had to quit because it was the same old grind. 15. SO, I TRIED Retirement AND FOUND I'M PERFECT FOR THE JOB!

    Wiper Woes

I have hook type arms and as I remember the length of the arm can be altered. On mine there is a lever that locks the arm in place, its at the wheel end of the arm. If yours are the same you could lengthen the arm a bit to clear the bottom of the screen, just the top to worry about then.
