  1. Ok dude i understand. I have escort ones on mine and the original owner/builder didnt know how to wire them up. So fitted a dash mount switch so i sorted it out.just wondered if that was an option for you thats all. Plenty of momentary switches available or even a foot operated one to keep dash tidy?
  2. Decided going to get some gaz coilovers for my 2b. Spoke to dave at dampertech deffo going to use them but is kit spares the only place to get top mounts from or does anyone else do them.
  3. why cant you use the stalk to operate it??
  4. You may need the car built and on the floor to determine the best size for that bush.If you search ebay as mentioned you can find them for a couple of quid each. not the easiest suspension to work with but tazzman seems to know his stuff and has explained it well to me. Just got to sort some bits myself too.
  5. if you look at this pic. http://www.rhocar.org/index.php?showtopic=31948&pid=240317&st=0entry240317 youll see the big washer. When the car is sat on the floor there will be a gap at the bottom of the strut where you can see the rod.this gap should be filled with rubber so that the suspension is damped when topping out.imagine it to be a bump stop for for other way around, thats how it was explained to me.
  6. theres should be a rubber bush at the bottom, this can be made with big washers sandwiching some rubber. Or get some anti vibration mounts off ebay that will want the center hole drilling out.,im buying new ones this week as one of mine is missing. As for the spacer, get a big washer and file to shape. It should be angled slightly. All info supplied to me by tazzzman after him giving my 2b sliding pillar the once over.
  7. depends what your after i suppose. Nuts and bolts are easy from local hardware style shop for bushes check out ebay and type in anti vibration mounts.
  8. Yeah got home fine.... thanks for giving it a once over and stopping my doing a 'mark b' ie losing a wheel Ive sent you a link re missing bushes, gonna strip em down and sort em very soon and alter camber. Thanks again dude for the info and help.
  9. where abouts are you based dude. may help out.
  10. Decided time to get the pony rear shocks off. Its got the oe twin coil things on that are soft as marshmallow So before i go and buy new ones, just wondered if someone got any they wanna sell on and save me some money. i need top mounts ,lower mounts and coilovers for a 2b If not ill purchase new ,but thought id ask all the same.
  11. imo it will be weeping fluid from the piston rod end.
  12. so its just low and nothing else?? If you sit with it in gear and running with clutch down, does it creep at all?? Is it a hydraulic release bearing or a slave cylinder operating on an arm?? My van had a low biting point ,over 3 weeks it got lower and lower till i removed the box and found it was weeping fluid and letting air in.
  13. Ill try to make it . but got osteopaths and unsure of appointment time. Should be nicer weather to bring it too. Fingers crossed.
  14. worth getting weber one or aftermarket for a bit of a saving ???
  15. After talking to many people saying my 38 dgas for my standard tuned engine could be a bit fuelly.Managed to drop on a cheap 32/36 dgav, but needs a rebuild kit to make sure its spot on before i fit it. Best place to get one of these from. Local weber dealer ,ebay or anywhere else???

    Servicing.

simple little duratec 4 pot lump. Oil and filter, air filter, plugs and fuel filter should cover it. all wheels off and check brakes for wear make sure nothing else is worn or leaking too.
  17. tazzman seems to be the guru on sliding pillars. wishbones are good if youve got the money to change to them. plus tazzman embarrassed a few wishbone people on race day with his pillar equipped 2b.
  18. Finally sorted this issue...... Fitted an earth cable from battery to bell housing bolt..Water gauge works fine now. :yahoo: No longer rises when driving. Now ive disconnected it and fitted aftermarket this eve.along with an oil pressure gauge too
  19. cheers for making me and the mrs feel welcome people, heres to more meets.
  20. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3189794.htm nothing to do with me. could be a bargain for someone though
  21. ill be there in the bmw though..weather isnt good for a car with no roof .....if ya see some 6ft2 dude with glasses looking lost. come say hello.
  22. ill go have a look on the back of the clocks for somewhere to measure off.Cant see any road salt issues If it increased with engine speed i could gather at voltage issues. But it only goes up with road speed... Least i know the engine isnt getting hot and the fan cuts in to cool it too, although it does sometimes come on when moving. ordered a new aftermarket gauge anyway, including an oil pressure too. Ill buy the rest over winter when i make a new dash.
  23. update in my 'extra cooling?' post
  24. Best place on the instruments to measure the voltage ??
  25. i did exactly what mark said above with my mk5 stalk and washers. live to motor, and wire from switch to pump earth, this goes to earth when presed..squirt. job done
