  1. i started out with the standard RH steel dash and sierra clocks. Didn't like it one bit so out it came. Bought a vac formed dash from paul mercer intended for round clocks. My budget wouldn't allow for individual dials so i hacked the dash a bit and fitted clocks from a mk5 escort. These looked ok and i managed to get everything electrical working. Now i have connected the tach input to my megajolt and the rev needle spun all they way round and stuck fully open. I'm now thinking of getting rid of it in favour of an Acewell ACE-3803 digi dash. i know there has been talk of these before but no-one has given a review of the fitted product. So my question is; does it work? is it big enough, bright enough? tacho any good? Thanks in advance ste

    Chit Chat

I thought this was a place for random general chat? How come it is flooded with posts that should be in Events? I would have pm'd a moderator to sort it but it seems it is the mods that are posting in the wrong place. Come on boys, stick with the rules. ste

    Ignition Feed

the megajolt only controls the advance really, check that the power to the coil goes off when you turn ignition off (middle wire on plug to coil) the edis will run the engine on its own without the megajolt. I took my feeds from the same same source so that when the ignition is off power goes from both. hth ste
  9. i have put as much time and money into converting that old dairy into a garage as i have with the car. now have plans to extend all the way back and triple the size of it. might get a ramp and then have a seriously cool garage. I want loads of space as i want lots of cars.
  10. I'd be happy to provide hog roasts but no towing facility on the hood. I'm sure an arrangement could be found though. As i'm nearing completion, does anyone in the area fancy popping round one day for an hour and pointing out any bleeding obvious things i have done wrong that i have overlooked. pm me for address if so. Thanks for the comments too ste

  12. Decided to have a big spring clean whilst the car was in the painters for the weekend and have just taken all the pictures off my phone so enjoy! put new roof on garage Compressor stopped working, fault was soon found That problem won't happen again Messy garage Now tidy
  13. Nice, first things first, get that ghastly paint off the chassis and do a nice new spray job. How is it for alignment? is it a self built chassis or a properly jigged factory built one? I remember when i was making mine, it was very difficult to get the thing perfect without a jig. Do you know what spec steel was used? Looks like a fun project, keep us updated on progress. ste

    Which Sat Nav?

i have a tomtom one v.2. absolutely brilliant. my other half uses it as she does bodyshop at home parties and says it always takes her to the persons door. it is cheap, not overloaded with functions and very simple to use. has some nifty features like finding nearest hospital, police or doctors etc it is now superseded by the v3 which i must assume to be better still
  15. got an 8foot square walk in fridge next door to the garage and telly and armchair are upstairs. didnt want any fires when i was welding and grinding!!! the car is on a 15 foot square piece of carpet!! btw, those wheels were to get it from the painters, here it is now with its proper ones on still putting on lights and seats etc!
  16. Just got it back from the body shop, and now starting to bolt on all my newly painted bits. at last, no more welding and grinding and getting dirty.
  17. i got 8 52-55mm ones on eBay for £15 delivered. I dont need all of them so if anyone is interested i can swap for beer tokens
  18. Was just browsing around and found this site CLICKY It's about 75 quid and has loads of features and is SVA OK and passes MOT tests. would look nice i think
  19. I used some stuff called PRC DeSotto or something, got it when i was in the RAF, it is used to seal the fuel tanks on fighter planes. made a flange with a 2" neck then put a squirt of the PRC aroung the hole and used some self tappers to hold it in place. The PRC is strong enough to hold it but the screws are just belt and braces really, then it was a 90 degree fuel filler bend from tweeks. I dont think its a part to skimp on or bodge as it is a fuel tank full of explosive petrol at the end of the day.
