Welcome to the madhouse :)

I think you have answered your own question higher up...

You have a homemade chassis based on the Haynes Locost design (Was from a book). Nothing to do with Robin Hood I'm afraid. What does it say on the V5? Robin Hood, GBS? or something else?

Also the GRP doesn't look like the GBS Zero GRP so probably a specific set produced for the Haynes chassis.

Still, all makes and models welcome here. So any other questions ask away :)

I belive it says robin hood, I did read the V5, a friend that done a HPI for me on his work data base came back as a robin hood lotus 7. As far as the aero screen is concerned will it just be a matter of buying one like the ones on ebay and just having to modify it to fit?

So what the bloody hell have I bought? lol Seller has confirmed it says robin hood lotus 7 on the V5 and this is what came back on the HPI report? Any ideas what im going to need to do when needing replacement part? EG bushs etc....? Does that all depend on the donor car? he wasn't to sure of that either possibly a sieara? its using the donor car plates if that's any help?

It looks too narrow for any RH that I know.

Did you get any paperwork (original receipts etc) apart from the V5?

All Hoods are identified here...

http://nw.rhocar.org...ntification.htm

The car itself looks nicely spec'd but be careful with the registration.

Just read your reply.....using donor car plates is illegal.

Illigal? What the hell? The car was built in 2009 if its illegal how has it got to 2014 and still be on the road? The owner now didn't know much about the history of the car and said it was from the donor which may not be the case, is there anywhere else this reg could have came from making it not illegal? as said it says robin hood lotus 7 on the V5 and HPI checks...

The use of donor car reg plates is a minefield. You have to use the chassis (or a large proportion of) off the donor car to be able to use the donor car plates. That way it is classed as a re-bodied car. To my knowledge there are no 7 style kits that use the chassis of the donor car, but I am prepared to be corrected on that.

Hi Benny,

sorry if I sound a killjoy.

I was replying to your statement

its using the donor car plates if that's any help?

and that amounts to ringing which is certainly illegal.

To get a kit car on the road legally, it has to pass either an SVA or the more recent IVA.

Once it passes that, it is registered by the DVLA as a "new" vehicle and has nothing to do with the donor.

If it used mainly new parts, it can get a brand new plate, if most parts came from one donor it gets an age related plate,

ie if the donor was a 1985 Sierra (B plate) the kit car also gets a B plate, but one that has never been issued.

If its a collection of bits from many donors it will get a Q plate.

Robin hood never made a model called "Lotus 7".

there are any number of copyright issues that this would break, and Lotus would likley take it to court.

If I were you I would get the name of the original builder & quiz him hard before parting with any more cash.

Just spotted the size of the front number plate. Think that is illegal too. So how did it get the MOT?

If you have a chance to back out on the deal, do so until you can confirm the details of the car and how authentic it is. However if you are just looking for a track day car, then why not, its got a good spec and looks the part.
