Help Oil Pressure Low When Braking? Pinto

the reason I fitted it was that the original sierra pressure switch was flickering under braking. could put the original sender back in I suppose but doubtful

flickering is ok its when its on permanently on then you need to worry still think your tickover a bit low get a tacho fitted

mine flickered at barkston.... siezed the oil pump

If you found plastic crud around pickup and changing the filter gained pressure there's a good chance there is more crud in the system

Popped out for a blast with topped up to brim oil and pressure drops but not too low. Does anyone know what the lowest reading should be? The guage I have brings the warning light on too early at about 18 but im sure I read that the pinto goes lower than that just cant find it.

I think the standard swicth brings the light on below about 5 psi - i.e. just after the real damage is done.

 

Just the keep the oil topped up, it'll be fine.

Could it be that when you are breaking hard the engine revs are dropping to much and so not enough rotational speed to drive oil around the system? I have had this with mine (allbeit not a pinto),when I had an air leak and engine nearly stalling. Then just need a blip to turn the light out again.
