Does anyone know what the wire is that's goes to inlet manifold basically bottom of carb pierburg as the wire going to it is red and white which mite be the missing temp gauge wire

Is it not the fuel cut off valve?

on the weber there is a wire for fuel cut off and also for auto choke. Is it going to a sender type thing?

Peirburg didn't have a fuel cut-off/anti dieseling valve. So it won't be that. If it goes to the autochoke housing did they have option of water or electrically operated autochoke or even both? (Or perhaps even a sensor to tell the ecu when the choke was open or closed? Long long shot that guess.) I also remember some manifolds had a heater plate in their bases, round steel disc fixed to the ally manifold but I think that may have had a red wire.

That's what it looks like a disc shape so they mite of put the temp gauge wire onto that gonna short it out see if gauge moves

Water temp sender is in the block not the manifold.

thinking about it, it may be in the haynes book, i'll dig it out and have a look when i am home and see if shows anything

Looking in my Haynes I think Nigel has it correct the Pierburg has an electric and thermostat type choke so the only connection to the carb should be for the choke.

IIRC its an anti icing device. (or maybe to stop fuel condensing)

I think the plate gets warm......

All remembered from a 1600 Sierra I bought new in 1983

as a company car.

I hated it...skins & rice puddings.

Luckily they traded them in at 30k miles.

My Sierra must be the only car thats ever had its speedo wound FORWARD!

 

The pierburgs were crap even from new.....

Look out for a 32/36 Weber & manifold.....I think the pierburg has a different base plate.
