Rh Suspension Upgrades? Ditching Sierra Rear Arms?

Has anyone ditched the Sierra rear trailing arms and linking the rear ended properly? Ive just purchased one running invoard front end on tie bars and Sierra rear but the rear feels horrid, feels like spring poss too tough as bounces about yet shocks maybe knackered as I can bottom it out @only 11 stone. Any help or advice regarding getting these to handle appreciated. I dont mind getting chassis fabrication etc in order to link the rear end of this needs doing, I just want it to be the best it can as running a 2.0 Zetec on 45s so fun enough just need the handling to match at present 🙈🙈.

Thanks in advance.

The monocoque has 180lb rear springs and truly shocking (sic) shock absorbers called zimmerides basically motor bike shocks with threaded tubes for adjustable spring platforms

If the springs are standard 180lb ones and you are honestly 11 stone then the springs are OK

I would look at replacing the shocks with something like Gas or ProTec adjustable but set the adjuster to about 3 clicks from the least amount of adjustment and tweak as necessary

Independent rear semi trailing arms. Can be decent. Good shocks. Correct spring rate for a car weighing 300Kg at that end. Perhaps an ARB at the front. They are mounted too low giving weird camber effects and they are very heavy. Never be quite as good as double wishbone rear end.

First thing is what have you got? Are the shocks mounted from the centre of the spring pan or the bracket off the rear of the arm?

Are the top ends of the shocks securely located and solid?

What springs are you running? Separate from the shocks or mounted as coilovers?

Do you want to make the best of the sierra setup or get fabricating and make double wishbones and chassis mounts (which is a pretty big job and has not to my knowledge been done by a RH owner before)?

I've always from the first moment I drove my car felt that the rear end was OK on the sierra setup. It was the front that was too hard and that has been rectified with softer springs, new dampers and a tie bar conversion.

just a thought but first time i drove mine thought the same. turned out tyre pressure at 30psi didnt help. running 18psi now and feels fine.

Ill try and get some pictures of the car in question later on, I havnt checked the tyres but the guy I bought it off said only put in 18-20psi so assume they are ok. Is anyone local to Waltham abbey/Essex? Id love a passenger ride in a sorted one to see difference of how they can handle. As said I know a fabricator who does space frames etc, done my old mk3 escort with Zetec turbo and mates mk2 fiesta space frames front end with a crazy 800bhp Zetec turbo, insanely runs 9 sec 1/4 mile 🙈🙈. So have faith in his build works as proven itself so happy to do this to get absorted car of space at the rear allows. If I can get pics of rear suspension has anyone got pics of a rear end without body on to work out whys needed clearer?

Can anyone advise how I post pics? Ive just tried to get the best I can at the minute. The front is on coilovers all be it hard to tell what theyre. The rear is on space or something but been painted red but have the adjustment screw thing at the bottom
