  1. i just had to report that by wireing up the indicator lights as nigel suggested works. I can only assume that the other circuit acts as an earth but thanks very much for the suggestion. much easier than i thought it would be.
  2. thanks nigel will give it a go this evening and see if it works phil
  3. Am in the process of rebuilding dash and replacing ols sierra cluster to individual dials and warning lights. Have used only one indicator light as per cluster but have found that with both the os and ns indicatos feeds attached to same warning light that both ns and of indicators all come on at same time. Do i need to wire in diodes in series with both feeds if so waht rating etc. has anyone any suggestions diags i can follow. Same issue with the ignition warning light vg loom shows brown yellow wire as ignition warning light - where do i get power from? again any suggestions. once have the warning lights all working will be moving onto main instruments so there might be more questions to come. phil

  6. the problem is the toshiba is only circa 1 year old and cost over £2k including the programms he runs for uni cant afford to dump the comp better to run at firwire 400 speed phil
  7. hi Rick it was pc world business who sold the external hard drive and now say they dont do a 800 fire wire lap top card compatable with vista. but if you can find one great [ phil
  8. Thought just might be worth asking this question. anyone out there up to speed on external drives and fire wire 800. my son recently bought himself an external 750GB external drive for storage of graphics films and games etc. the drive runs off fire wire 800 but can also run at 400 and from a usb 2 but as i understand it the speed of data is slower. the problem is that his lap top does not have a firewire 800 port so he needs an adapter (the normal size not express). Whilst have found an 800 card but none that work with Vista!! does anyone out there know where a firewire 800 card compatable with Vista can be located.
  9. hope to be there this time. phil
  10. i used the sierra mirror mounted upside down onto a piece of wood. The wood was then attached via screws through the holes in the bonnet meant for the demisters. This has the added benifit of stiffening up the bonet when you have no screen attached. Edges of wood just rounded off easy! After SVA just took off and put on the screen. Nb handed over my piece of wood with mirror to another Hoodie who used to get his through SVA. All you need is the mirror to be fitted dont matter how much you can see (but it can't vibrate). Main thing is that you have side mirrors fitted with the correct line of sight. Mine failed using the RH supplied ones so when retested used motorcycle ones with extended arms which passed fine.
  11. 6ft 1 and 17.5 stone fit no probs in a 2b4plus
  12. prior to the launch of Vista most pc's were sold with the option of a free upgrade to vista. I have two lap tops one with vista and one with XP whilst vista has some interesting user features and is good at swithcjing between open applications etc but it basically does the same thing. if you are familiar with XP i would stick with it. My son however has vista and thinks its great. Most universities now recommend that its students run vista as it is compatable with their lan's etc. I use my pc's for business and a lot of software is not compatable SAGE etc - but is gradually becomming so. in addition if you run Sky antime to download sky movies etc they are still not vista compatable so if you were to upgrade you would have a problem. As the guy from pc world says you cant now get a new machine without vista so its not a bad system its more to do with the software manufacturers upgrading their software to make sure it vista compatable. If you check on the internet / box that any software you have installed after purchasing your pc is vista compatable then for a newish machine you should have enough processing speed / memory that you should not notice the difference and could upgrade. phil
  13. Have 2b4 plus with adjustable GAZ shocks at the front. The LH side front tyre is showing a lot of ware on the outside edge. RH side no abnormal ware. Can anyone suggest what bit of the suspension set up i need to change to cure the problem. phil

    Oil Grade

Hi i know i have been told before so forgive me for asking again. whats the best grade of oil to use on a high milage pinto 2l injection 205block. phil
  18. i tried to get one before my sva and indeed ordered one from Mountney but never came. As i did not expect to pass first time took with no pad but changed to button head fixing bolts. inspector had a look and was happy and passed it as OK. i know others have had a fail on this point so if you cant get one try Nicko's fix or give it a go without one you might get through. phil
  19. Sorry to hear that you have some parts missing very frustrating when you are so far away. as per earlier posts if you speak to Richard he should be willing to help you. Note the fact that its the responsiblility of your supplier not Robin Hood but if you need parts you need parts. Depending upon what you are short of the forum may be able to suggest alternative part / supplier so try putting up a post of missing items. I am sure that those of us over this side of the pond will offer as much help as we can to get you on the road. Am not too far away from RHSC so if you want something chasing up would be happy to do so. Send me a PM re missing parts!. Phil
