    1St Mot

Registration date makes sense. After all, mass produced cars are 'made' many, months before they get on the road. My 2B was SVA'd and passed on 4th May DVLA Day (for Build Up Inspection) was 21st May - This is the date on the V5 and also the date when the MOT expires. Simples x PS: I wouldn't rely on the DVLA to remind you when the three years are up though, so present for MOT on or before the 10th March would be my advice.
  4. Hi All, Thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts, cards & phonecalls. I'm feeling OK and getting used to my daily bucket 'o drugs. Exercise regime underway and will be back driving as of next Tuesday I have been assured that life will return to normal in the fullness of time and that I'll be firing on all cylinders as long as I do as I'm told and behave myself My 2B is currently on SORN (but it would've been by now anyway) so I'm starting to think about a little list of jobs that will need doing over the next few months. Take care out there...
  5. Hi All, Went to work, last Monday (14/11) felt rough as I was walking across the car-park (normal day then! ) Went to the Club Night in Keighley and on the way there, thought I was going down with a virus of some sorts. The beer helped though, but the same feelings returned on the way home. Pains in the chest from shoulder to shoulder and both arms hurting. Went to bed with a hot toddy, but was up around one'ish feeling definitely strange. Yep it's a cold - no work for me tomorrow! Tried to get back to sleep, but no avail. Struggling to breathe and so up again asking Mrs Grizzly to get me to the Hospital pronto! Once there, got seen to straight away. No complaints about the NHS from me. Turns out I'm having a Heart Attack!! Was rushed off to Leeds General Infirmary first thing Tuesday morning to get a Stent fitted. I won't go into chapter and verse, but it's been quite an experience. I was let out of Hospital on Friday and on Saturday, Mrs Grizzly's Father died suddenly and unexpectedly. The Adams household is a very sad one at the moment. The Cardiac Nurse came out to see me today. I've been told that I'll be off work for another five weeks at least and can't drive for another three. This wasn't in the game plan...
  6. The steering column can be shifted so that it exits from the cabin through the footwell/bulkhead as high up and as far out towards the outside of the car as possible. This may/should give you the clearance you need. HTH.
  7. Hi All, Enjoyed the gathering (see I didn't even bother to call it a show!). Pity really though, as there seemed to be some genuinely interested punters wandering about. I hope that events like this doesn't put anyone off! Mr Tenner (think I got his name right ) needs to buck his ideas up! Anyway, Sir Chris managed to find some rare free time!
  8. Cheers Steve, I have my Ticket and my pass is stamped for the weekend. I'm going down to London for work today, but I'm hoping to be back on Friday. Won't be able to get to Tatton Park until Saturday AM though. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
  9. Hi Luke, Firstly, sorry to hear about this. Things must've tightened up with regards to the regs? When I went for SVA I had a Mountney wheel fitted - Not the one supplied in the kit, a slightly larger one that I boutght at a Show. It was a Mountney, but unfortunately not the same fitting as the kit supplied one . I did a trawl on eBay and found a boss that would fit and it just happened to be collapsible. Anyway, search on eBay and you may well find something that won't set you back so much dosh. HTH
  10. The only thing I can see wrong here is that you may be tempted to paint the hub surfaces where they contact the brake discs. I'd advise you NOT to do this as it may result in brake disc runout
  11. Hi All, I too have been thinking about getting myself a quicker rack. Rather than start another thread I thought I'd tag on to this one. I think I have the Metro rack. Does anyone know if there's a conversion kit for these?
  12. Got mine off Fleebay. Wasn't too expensive. Unless anyone local can lend you one instead? The tolearances are in the Haynes manual I think. If you've ensured that all mating faces were clean though, this might not be your problem? Mine weren't as the hubs had been powder-coated.
  13. Hi, Firstly, congrats on getting on the road! Re brake juddering: have you checked all four discs for any runnout? Do you have access to a dial guage? I had issues on this but once resolved, the brakes are fine.

    Ne Convoy To Newark

I'll be at Ferrybridge Services around 08:00 on Saturday morning!
  15. Hi Nigel, They are indeed branded as indicator bulbs. My guess then is that they're probably not designed for constant illumination? I like to run with my sidelights on during the day. I've had a few instances where other drivers have nearly pulled out on me! Maybe I'll be buying a Volvo next I've seen some 10w ones on eBay clicky I might give these a bash. Regards...
  16. Hi Guys, I didn't know there was a maximum allowed wattage? Physically, the 10w Halogens and my latest 21w Bulbs are about the same size as the original 4w ones and the holder allows them to protrude into the headlamp void sufficiently enough. I can't believe that it's the H4's that are melting them as the 4w bulbs never suffered. I'm running with sidelights on all the time mainly (haven't done much night driving lately). And yes Andy, the LED ones I had were similar to yours, but not as big - 5 SMD (as opposed to your 13 SMD) SMD = Surface Mounted Diode. Yes, mounted below the main H4 bulb. I'll have to look into the wiring if I want the sidelights to go out when the mains come on. I notice that these ones are 'capless'. I may get some of these but I'd have to get some capless holders too. Cheers.
  17. Hi All, Calling all Electrical Magicians out there! Never been happy with my BA9S 12v/4w sidelights, as they're just so darned dim. Experimented a while back with some 10w Halogens which were much better, but didn't last long before they blew. I then tried some LED ones but they've given up the ghost too! I have the VG Loom and standard 1990 Sierra stalks. I'm suspecting the bulb holders and wondering about swapping these out for some new ones, but I'm not sure if this is the issue or not? Have now moved on to some 21w jobbies which are superb, but these are lasting only a week or so before they give up (see pic). Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the root cause? Thanks...
  18. I went to school with the Guy and we were also in the same Moto-X Club so we go back a long way. Started off covering Moto-X seats and has built up a nice business. He was the guy who stitched in my Sunroof. There was a WIKI on here but I can't find it now?
  19. Never used the Master Cylinder on mine. It's still sat on top of the cupboards in the garage. Often wondered just how much more braking effect you'd get with one on? I reckon (although I've never actually tried) that I could lock the wheels up if I really stamped on the pedal. I like mine the way it is - There's plenty of feel and maybe knowing that I'd have to really lean on them helps me drive with a bit more thought.

Hi, I have one. Photo attached. It's steel, not alloy. Let me know if this is what you're after.

    Chassis Number

Hi Steve, VIN needs to be 17 digits Not sure on the combination, but I started with letters, then numbers and finished with letters. I did SVA before Build Up inspection and I rang VOSA who said I could make one up of my chosing. I recall that DVLA were more picky about this. As I did SVA first though, DVLA accepted my choice. I didn't wan't to risk stamping directly onto the Stainless Steel so stamped onto a Mild Steel plate. I then welded this onto the chassis near the rad inside the engine bay. I also did a prettier one, more for show, onto an Alloy Plate and fixed this just above the battery. All done with a borrowed 5mm Stamp Set. As we all know, VOSA and DVLA Stations vary widely in their views on all things like this, so check for your area. HTH.
  23. Sorry, can't help with Fuel Injection stuff, but if the plug is dry then it's getting no fuel.
