I'm a lucky boy. 17feet square and carpeted. Workbench, pillar drill, bench grinder and plenty of tools. I do know though of guys who've built their kits very well out in the open.

OK, thanks for your replies so far Guys. Right, it seems that it's one of two things. 1. No chassis modifications = IVA not applicable. 2. Chassis modifications = IVA applicable. I cannot answer this question, but I've passed the link for this thread on, so that he can digest & progress with VOSA.

... 5. OK, last one for now. This edge seems too sharp to me. I think I'll be giving him the link for Woolies. I didn't want to sound alarmist, but as we all know, the SVA was expensive and the IVA is even more so. I'd hate him to get knocked back on such fundamental things. Or, is it that Beach Buggies are subject to a completely different set of regulations? All comments/pearls of wisdom would be much appreciated. TIA

... 3. There's an Air Filter and a fan belt cover yet to be fitted, but is an exposed engine still OK? He has some cans to go on the exhaust, but is under the impression that Noise levels don't apply - Is this true?
-
... 2. This is the dash. Are these switches OK? Will he be needing some edge trim in the steering wheel spokes? There's no Demist for the windscreen? The wipers don't have a Park facility. He say's that 60's Dub's didn't have one? Does he need a Brake Fluid Reservoir Warning Light?

... I'm a bit concerned for him though with regards to IVA and having absolutely no experience of this particular marque, I thought I'd ask on here. 1. I've pointed out the obvious stuff, like the need to cover pretty much all sharp edges. SVA Nut Covers & Edge trim etc.

Hi Folks, Just been round for a long overdue visit to my daughters boyfriend's house. He has a Manx Beach Buggy kit very near to completion and it's looking really good.

Hi All, Been away last week and have just caught up with this thread - Excellent idea! I'm based in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire and would be happy to help wherever possible. Plenty of nice places to visit around my neck of the woods (Knaresborough, Harrogate, Pately Bridge, Fountains Abbey, The Dales etc. etc) and would be willing to collect, make logbook entries and relay to wherever. Count me in.

I've replied in the 'Wanted' thread.

I can do a copy on DVD. Send me a PM and let me know.

Shame on you for using wooden ladders. You might get a splinter!

Never managed to make it to this event. Put my name down for this one please (Saturday & Sunday) with camping. Solo Showing.

Hope you had a good Birthday Les. All the best.

I'll buy the ladder off you

No, the std RH offering isn't re-packable. I cut a letterbox slot in mine to get inside it and then fabricated a plate to seal it all up afterwards.
-
I'd heard it was derived from 'Cheltenham Average' Sound of running for cover.
-
I have wadding and a (modified by me) repackable RH Exhaust. PM me if you'd like either or both.
-
Well done and CONGRATULATIONS! See you around.

Type 9 was used in many Fords, so that end should be sorted/std. Are you using a Sierra pedal box? If so, a Sierra cable, etc etc. If you want to go the long route, the Transit ones fit the bill. On my 2B, the cable loops between the headers (the shortest route) and is kept in place by a couple of large P clips on home made bracketry above & below. Also, it's good to wrap some insulation around the cable in that area, to keep it cool. HTH

Hi Andy, First of all - Welcome to the Forum (or as some say, The Madhouse) Excellent choice. I understand that the Zero seems to be a good car to build. If you come accross any Caterham or Westfield owners, don't be put down. Whilst the RH may be cheaper, IMHO, it's just as good and so much more unique - Just takes a little bit more 'building'. Put a dozen Robin Hoods in a line up and they'll all be different. Don't be afraid to ask any questions on this site - There's a wealth of information and a great deal of experience on hand. As has been said before, the only dumb questions are those that aren't asked. Get yourself along to a show (Detling Show - April 4-5 (Easter) Sun / Mon) and say Hi.

Ahh. A subject dear to my heart! I do like my toons. I bought an Amp and a set of speakers to go with it from Maplins. If you want the actual make & model number, let me know and I'll dig it out. The amp is bolted to the bulkhead behind the passenger seat. The speakers are fitted into the top of the boot. You can just see them in this pic. Probably not the best place with hindsight, but you're struggling for options really. If I were to fit them again I'd have found somwhere under the dash. Anyway, I blew up my first pair of speakers, so bought some more that were a bit more powerfull. These blew up too, so now I have a pair @ 400w These are good! My ipod simply plugs into a socket on the dash, which feeds into the amp. Works well. Basically though, you're struggling really. Even on my set-up, anything over 50-60mph and your best off with earphones. You pays your money and you takes your choice. I doubt the ones on eBay for £16 would cut the mustard. HTH.
