  1. Great to see everyone who turned up - 38 for the food and one other for a drink and chat a bit later. Nice to put some faces to a few names and it's fair to say we seemed to take the place over.
  2. Final reminder for tomorrow night, I've got 40 people booked in and possibly a few others who'll turn up as well so it's a big turnout. The venue can still cater for a few more latecomers so don't be put off if if you've not already committed. There should be a new faces coming along and I'm sure that they can count on a warm welcome. See you all there.
  3. Alan has reminded me that there's a 20% off voucher offer availabe if you sign up to the Toby newsletter. I've not checked the full T's and C's but it might be worth a look. http://www.tobycarvery.co.uk/stonebridgeislandmeriden/offer/january20percentoff15/
  4. Tack welded nuts to the tubes on mine - not dropped off yet. I'll bring my small welder, some taps and a big box of assorted fasteners just in case.
  5. Look on the bright side, it's not like the weather is exactly great at the moment. You'll get your registration soon hopefully and they'll be plently of time to enjoy the car when the weather improves.

    Wipers

Everything you need to know should be here thanks to Longboarder's legendary wiring diagrams: http://nw.rhocar.org/mini_wiper_motor_wiring.htm
  7. You should have got a list with your membership pack of members in your local area which would be a start. (List from end of 2014 indicated over 20 members). It might also be worth looking through some of the old events posts for the Staffs meetings and see who confirmed that they'd attend. It's worth remembering that there may well be forum users (as opposed to club members) who'd be interested and the only way to contact them would be to stick a post on here so as a starting point I'd get a new event posted and take it from there. Hopefully someone who's on here who attended the meetings in the past will be able to give some idea of the attendance (attendees)?
  8. List updated. Filling up nicely and looking set to beat last years attendance.
  9. Just to add to what Steve has said, if you started with the same venue and dates as the previous Staffs meets it might be easier to get something up and running again because previous attendees will know where to go. I'm very fortunate that I've got a great bunch of guys in my area who make my job easy - I basically just post the meetings on the forum and they turn up. There's a core of about 8 people who'll always turn up and then the remainder who come when they can make it. Interestingly we still get a lot of people turn up who never come on the forum or maybe come to one meeting in the summer - they just know where and when we meet (which has been the same for years). My predecessor in the Area Secretary role did a lot of work building up our meeting to the state it is now but when he stood down and I took over, I knew I wouldn't be able to devote as much time to it as he did, so I just try and keep the meetings going and keep in touch with people as best I can. For me the most important thing is that members in my area know that there are other members that they can contact if they need help or advice and that they shouldn't be afraid to ask.
  10. What do you mean by standard ECU - Sierra efi? What have you got and what are you trying to do?
  11. 5 pin will still do the job.
  12. Done. I know we've got a few members who don't use the forum so I'm going to try and contact them seperately to see if they want to come along.
  13. I've got Gaz's at the moment, plenty big enough to stick on the drive and work around the car.
  14. Spoke to Gaz today and I think he's available Saturday too. Might be worth bringing the GAZebo over if it's not too windy and we need shelter outside.
  15. Peugeot 309 or 405, pretty sure they're all the same
  16. I bent mine around a length of 110mm plastic waste pipe. Just bent a bit at a time and lots of trial fitting.

  18. I've added this to the forum calendar: Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May 2015
  19. Wednesday 28th January 2015 is our annual Christmas lunch. Same format as previous years and at our usual monthly venue The Malt Shovel Pub, Coventry Road, Nr Stonebridge, Coventry, CV7 7HL https://maps.google....=classic&dg=brw To keep the table bills simple, most people normally opt for the carvery but other options are available: http://www.tobycarve...eislandmeriden/ Meet up from 7PM onwards and aiming to eat around 7-30 but latecomers can usually be accommodated. I like to give the pub a rough idea of the headcount a few days before the event so if interested parties let me know, I'll start a list. Last year I think we got 33 people so that's the target to beat. Everyone welcome (including ladies and kids). ATTENDING Richard and Jackie theduck (Stu)and Sarah Jez Morton Andi Clare and Jasper Graham and Dot Vic and Rita Steve, Rosemary, Rebecca and Queenie Alan +1 Thrashed (Steve), Dee and Paige Dino and Nikki Jess Dan + 2 tractor (Chris) Peter Mahony Gaz and Carol Adrian Martin T + 4 Zach + 1 Redtrev TOTAL 40
  20. At the top end of the engine, the diecast metal extra detailed parts that I bought were fitted. These consist of the throttle bodies, the mechanical fuel metering unit and the distributor. The clear yellow pipes are the fuel pipes going from the metering unit to the individual injectors and the thicked black pipes are the HT leads. The most difficult part here was drilling each fuel injector with a 0.5mm drill so that a 2mm length of wire could be glued into the injector to leave a stub to push the fuel pipe on to. I've still got to fit the throttle bodies on the other cylinder bank but I wanted to get an idea of the fuel pipe routing before the top of the engine got too crowded. A macro lens would help getting some clearer photos because the camera on my phone is a bit limited. For scale, the engine and transaxle is 10cm long overall.
  21. A bit of free time over the Christmas break and a spot of inclement weather means I've finally been able to get a bit more of my kit built. The rear driveshafts were built up first, the shaft pieces are split longitudinally so that the UJ spiders can be fitted when the two halves are glud together. Nothing too difficult, just need to make sure that the joints turn freely so that the suspension can move up and down.
  22. Correct, hang on to the donor V5. DVLA will sort that out when you register the kit. I'd just tell the scrap people that you need to keep it as part of registering your kit.
