  1. OK cars all polished and packed. Ready to go...Weathers looking pretty decent for the trip too. Cant wait...so see you all at Ferrybridge for 9.00am (1st of many fuel stops) :clapping:
  2. I know the feeling Ian, after missing last years trip. Thoughts are with you mate... My car loves donuts now though heh heh...I'll try to put it on a diet, but can't promise.
  3. Gonna start polishing tomorrow lol
  4. I will meet you guys at Ferrybridge services at 9.00.
  5. Happy birthday bud...catching me up
  6. Have we got a final route worked out yet? Just want to check out speed camera locations Weathers looking pretty good to...Everything crossed. Hopefully wont have to try out the new wipers too much
  7. Right 99.9% sure I've got it sorted now... After working on it over the weekend and again disconnecting the CAM sensor, it still had issues of slow to crank...hmmm not the same result as before, so definitely not the ECU then...Damn. Femi turned up with a spare battery today. So fitted that and ran the car for almost 2hrs...car starting a dream...no issues. Battery holding 12.7-13.3V. My old battery was at best only at 12.1-12.3V. Apart from taking the car on a run to give it proper testing, I'm now pretty confident issue solved... I reckon that the old battery although holding a decent charge was not giving out sufficient cranking amps due to degradation. My old battery had been run flat a few times over the past 2 years and gel batteries don't like that too much... So fingers crossed, all ready for Scotland. Just need to find some snow chains to fit now
  8. Ferrybridge A1 services for me...
  9. Ok update.. I have done as instructed by CANEMS and disconnected CAM sensor ( basically disabling ECU) engine spun over faster. So looking like aapping issue for hot running. Hopefully a simple fix...
  10. Totally gutted for you mate... I know what you are going through... Hopefully I have not set a trend By the way if you take the tin top to Scotland, any room for a set of jump leads
  11. Usually 5 mins or so Rich. Dave at CANEMs has suggested unplugging CAM sensor and cranking over. If still slow then definately not ECU related. Gonna try a few things later. I'll keep you all posted..
  12. That's what I'm starting to think as well. I've emailed CANEMs to see if this could be the case
  13. Hmmm may need some help on this one now. First thing was to swap starter motor with a spare one I have. Took the car on a run. Stopped and switched off car. Volt meter showing 12.3v. But engine barely cranked...just like a flat battery. So tried to start via the start stop button...same thing. Ok so final thing fit another battery (fully charged via jump leads) and try again....nothing the same. Now what? I'm stumped. Its not the battery, its not the starter, its not the Ignition switch. Any ideas? I need to get this sorted by the end of this weekend as Scotland looming (either that or there will be a lot of bump starts) So if anyone has further ideas or can lend a hand to diagnose I'd appreciate the input
  14. Gonna try cranking when hot with another battery connected as it gives all the symptoms of a duff battery. Except it seems fine when cold, so may also be a sign of starter on the way out. I'm thinking that when Starter becomes hot ( from engine) internal resistance increases requiring more CAMps. So gonna start with battery then swap starter as I have a spare...very strange though.
  15. Hi Andy, why would ignition adv change when hot?
  16. Ok got an odd issue with the car and thinking it may be a duff battery but not sure. Battery showing 12.2v.... Car starts fine when cold. But when engine warm the engine struggles to turnover, just like a flat battery. Leave the car 5 mins to cool down and it cranks over ok... Battery is a race gel pack type. It is 3 yrs old and has been run flat a few times which gel batteries don't like, yet she seems to charge up and hold charge ok. Strange that it only happens when engine hot.... Any ideas?
  17. If weather don't warm up we can probably drive across as water will be frozen... Ha ha. I all for a bit of fun...gleneig for me too
  18. Oh great..... Bloody typical!!! Here's me been concentrating on getting washers and wipers working, when in fact I should have been fitting snow chains..... Can't wait
  19. Glad to see you got your ass into gear.... Great news alls ok
  20. Should be there all being well. If weather has stopped blowing a gale and throwing an inch of water every hour I might venture out in the kit....I know I need to give my new wipers a test run, but think the car would need a sail and floats also if the weather don't change soon...see you all there
  21. Well mister Marsh, managed to give the charger a proper shake down today. Did a 100 mile trip across the peaks today (cracking weather) and had some fun with a VXR8 on the bypass. Even the missus was smiling as I was giving it some proper welly (keeping to the speed limits of course ).....Just managed to keep up on the straight bits but left him for dead pulling away from the roundabouts....Damn this car is quick  Car and charger never missed a beat... I'm sure the owner of the Zetec will be suitably impressed.....I am
  22. Well just done another 60 miles shakedown today and no issues. Car running a dream. Just a few small jobs to finish off and I'm ready.... Roll on the 18th..
  23. Great minds think alike Dan...
