  1. My wife is CSI obsessed. I hate them "had a trip or a fall?" type adverts or the "now you can borrow enough money to get completely out of debt?????????" type s Especially the latter as they are obviously aimed at people out of work or housewives with mortgages due to the fact they are on in the day. The words scum and vultures wouldnt be too strong methinks.
  2. Sounds a daft question but I dont have one. It has been plugged off at the carb side of my 2L pinto. I dont have a heater but would like to try running water through this part of the engine. I have read conflicting reports about weather or not to do this, but my engine is always at least 86 deg so it wont harm it trying. So i imagine the id is something like 19mm. Also are there any other lighter hoses besides expensive silicone? The one piece of hose I have is more like a rubber cosh.

    Headlights Skewiff

Lol, Thanks for that technical gem Phil. I was wondering if there was a specific height and distance the lights should shine on a surface eg garage door
  5. Are there any measurements somebody has for the correct place of the headlights. Mine seem a bit to the left and one seems too low. Thanks

    Stone Chips

Just read this interesting article on a Nissan forum (No pictures though im afraid) Might give it a try. Fix those Stone chips -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- we all get them, they're annoying, and Ive had my front bumper resprayed 4 times now because of them, and so here's a cheap solution, before you go any further though, its not as good as a reprayed bumper, but its not bad. Tools you'll need: Depending wether you're doing it on the car or not you'll need a few tools to take the bumper off, I took mine off to make it easier on my back. touch up pen patience superglue patience wet and dry fine grade (1200 or higher) patience beer patience cutting polish(T-cut, autoglyms paint renovater, G3) patience polishing cloth's patience I well further stress the need for patience, I would say I have less than average amount of this, but when it comes to doing my car I have a lot, and I got seriuosly *bleep* at doing this. before pictures: Make sure the bumper is nice and clean, touch up using your touch up pen, for the deep holes use a dab superglue after you've put the paint in the hole, this acts as a thick laquar to smooth things out (at this point I called it a day, and got drunk, leaving the paint and glue to fully dry overnight) Allow to dry out, then using the wet and dry, fully soaked in really soapy water(I used 1 part water to 1 part washing liquid)and rub bumper where you've been touching up till its smooth(you have to keep dipping in the water) this is what it'll look like when you're done: Then rub off after its dried with a cloth, it'll now look like this: Now that bit should of taken a while, this will take even longer, using the polish and the cloth's, rub like hell where its all dull, after time it will come up shiny and nice again, and here's the finished result:

    Marshaling

"you will be smelly, tired, & possibly wet, and will nod off to sleep within 5 minutes of sitting down." Not too far off, It was a long day but very enjoyable. I can only imagine it being a lot more miserable in the cold and wet. The last race was won by Andrew Stirling in a V 3640cc Dax Rush.. Proper monster sound. The wife decided to join me and won the marshalls raffle and bet me a quid on every race and won every one so she was happy.

  14. Have just got a ticket to do some marshalling at 750 race at Mallory Park next weekend. Never done this before so has anyone got any indication as to what it may entail? Hopefully not stuck directing car parking from 8 till 5 because obviously it would be nice to see a bit of the event

    Which Car Are You

You've got it all. Power, passion, precision, and style. You're sensuous, exotic, and temperamental. Sure, you're expensive and high-maintenance, but you're worth it. cool.gif Lol, I was some little Mazda thingy. Hate to think what that said
  16. Usually dislike this sort of horoscope type stuff but this one is really quite good. (Borrowed from a Sierra forum) http://www.tomorrowland.us/sportscar/

    Colourtune

Has anyone used this and what do they think of it? Noticed Halfrauds have them.
  20. Me and my better half keep Black Rock hens purely for their free range egg laying abundance Problem, is the minute you step out of the back door or the garage door they`re straight in. The one in the picture always hops on to the drivers side lamp and just stares at her reflection, but today after I nipped out for 20 seconds, she got in and the bonnet was up with the engine running. Luckily she was away from the wheels and belts but she was dancing on the battery. Think ill have to get a garage spring door closer.
  21. Something up with the Locost website too

    Energy Bills

Decided 3 years ago now to plumb in a wood burner that heats up central heating and water. Still got the gas for when you just need to heat up water quick etc. But now our winter gas quarterly is just £15. And the logs come from council tree and ground depots for free. Mind you the burner costs aroun a grand and £250 for a log splitter. But still worth it...........

    Misfire

Think ive found the problem, when stripping the carb I noticed a mixture screw missing on the affected carb. Seems like it fell out in Yorkshire. Seems that the stiff ride of a Hood can eventually rattle everything loose. Now a tour of the bike shops is needed. What a great feeling, not paying a garage.

    Misfire

Well slowly I am learning the basics of mechanics but I do have a problem with misfiring. I am getting into the RHOCAR way of thinking and refuse to take it to a garage (well unless I havnt done it by the time summer comes and goes) Its a pinto ohc 2l with R1 bike carbs and lumention electrics. I took the car to Bogg Bros and it went like a rocket after. But 2 hours into the drive back it started to backfire like mad. The engine sounds like its running on 3 cylinders especially when its revved just a bit from idling. I used an inline spark tester which shows the plugs to be firing well, and the chopper in the dizzy looks fine, Ive replaced the dizzy, plugs and leads, visually checked the timing at no1 tdc, done a compression test (all cylinders 9.9 and 10 bar) Ive loosened the carbs and squeezed them on to the runners a bit more (this has reduced the backfire) but now there is a strong smell of petrol. Also if I put my hands over the air intakes, no1 doesnt do anything where as the other 3 will slow/stall the engine. Im about to attempt to check the valve clearances then scarily enough strip the carb. Do you think Im going down the correct route? Thanx
