    Crankcase Breather

Hi all, I used to have a heavy duty braided breather pipe hanging out of the engine which I was about to put a catch tank on for. It was there yesterday but after a blast in todays tempting weather, it appears to have dropped off. All that is left is a rubber bung and there is slight spray underneath the bike carbs. Where could I get one from and how is it fitted. All I can see is a hole in the rubber with no clear way of attaching anything. When I looked in the Haynes manual it seems that the pipe (albeit a different sort of pipe) is just pushed in. Regards Andi
  2. If you use sealant, just a thin smear both sides, don't go mad with it Thanks for that, I was a bit errm liberal with it. Plus the other bolts I was using was a tad too long Its all on now and working. Havnt connected an air filter yet, and at high revs a fine mist of fuel appears from the carb trumpets but it did that before and when i fitted the socks, there was no petrol smell on hard acceleration. Hopefully this is ok. Gonna balance the carbs up tomorrow and have a tweak, but otherwise happy as a happy one. Thanks
  3. Fireblade Mitch> Just managed to get a gasket from Panjani Spares of Leicester (good old English name) So have another bash tomorrow.
  4. My mechanical inferiority has sunk to new depths. Thought I`d done a good job of swapping manifolds and revamping all my plumbing. It took me all day to unbolt the old manifold, clean up surfaces, add gasket sealant to both sides of the gasket, bolts didnt want to go back in till i had no skin left on my knuckles. Tightened them up as much as i could then filled the rad back up only to see water wee-ing out from under the manifold. So i suppose its try again, but halfords and a few others dont do a gasket and i wanted to get started today. I think its possible that the bolts are slightly too long so ill try with a couple of washers. Anbody out there know if this is the fuel inlet?
  5. I first thought that, then realised it was the effect of the wide angle lens eg. look at the curve on the garage door in the nose cone reflection
  6. This cheered me up this cold morning. http://www.break.com/index/worst-parallel-parking-ever1.html
  7. Im swapping my r1 carbs and manifold with blade carbs and gbs manifold as the r1`s have fell off once too often. On number 4 inlet runner there is a nipple/pipe coming off it. Is it ok to blank this off? as I am not using a servo/vacuum and basically the only pipe coming of the r1`s was just the fuel pipe. Cheers

    Camp By The Seaside

Aye, mark me down Doesnt half sound illegal though
  9. After that cock up I think I can admit that.......................... When I first got my hood I wanted to take a photo of it from up above. Problem is I live in a bungalow so in my infinite wisdom i decided to climb on the garage roof. You can just make out the reflection of me in the nose cone. Just before the asbestos gave way and I fell through, grabbed a beam on the way down and dislocated my shoulder out of place by 4". I was off work for a month. Still the camera was ok and the pic looked good.

    Swanage

Hi Dave and welcome to the club, You`ll find it an invaluable resource of information and tips. I know I have, and the chaps seem to be able to answer as many questions as you can fire at them. Got my hood in February and its one of the best things I have done, keeps me out of trouble (cept maybe with the wife). But even a complete build is never finished.
  11. And I always thought you were out to buy dance scene drugs
  12. "I've been Salty_monk for a dozen years or more, on a bunch of forums etc. It started with finding an original name for Yahoo mail & I just happened to have a mousemat (still have it) with a picture of the salty monk hotel on it..." Hi Dan, Must admit I was looking forward to hearing this one. Know what you mean though about getting an original name, If i set up a new account these days I have to resort to picking a name then spelling it backwards.
  13. I know a lot are obvious, like Andi (as its my real name) But there are some interesting, whacky and weird names too

    Mini Spots

OK so now I am light up like a xmas tree (thanks all who contributed to my last thread) They are a lot more purple than I thought, but it does make the hedgerows look pretty. I had a dilema thinking how I should mount the spots, obviously I didnt want to drill into the suspension arms and my welding attempts would have destroyed the whole car. So I stuck bolts upside down with JB cold weld, cant believe how strong that stuff is, I really was able to torque the nuts down and the bolts didnt budge. Just wondering now if they are road legal?
  15. Yeah, I noticed on mine it said 900 and something kilos???? I wouldnt have thought it was anywhere near that weight. (not even with the wife in LOL, Sorry Dear)
  16. I dont think you need a screen, but if the car has wipers on, then they would have to work. Which would be difficult without the screen methinks

    Mouse In The Dizzy

No pipe attached and it goes faster with more revs, ill check the points plate in the am. Ill have to get some serious ICE, its really quite loud.
  18. Really sorry I couldnt make it, work shift was changed without my consent (not unusual). Still its good to belong to a club who have done this for such a deserving charity. Andi n Clare
  19. The Hood has developed an annoying squeak coming from the dizzy which seems to go under load. Ive dropped a couple of drops of light oil in the top of the shaft but to no avail. I have a lumenition chopper in there but that looks fine. Any ideas if its bad news?
  20. Are you saying have a relay nearer to the lights as oposed to nearer the battery?

    Norton 360

NOD 32 is probably the best protection on the market http://eset.co.uk/adware-protection-lp.php...CFQ6S1Qod-0tweA It doesnt drain system resources and take over your computer like Norton. You`ll notice the difference. Plus its catch and quarantine is second to none. Or theres the Russians take on the market, kaspersky http://www.kaspersky.co.uk/storewho are also good, but will delete without asking, programmes it may clash with. What most people go with is the free anti virus from AVG http://free.avg.com/ww.download?prd=afe which is still good. But for my money and peace of mind I use NOD32 HTH
  22. I have some small 4cm spotlights to fit and want to run them independant of te main lights. The only info I have is 12v 35w. My question is would I need a relay? Thanks
  23. Sorry 1.8mm I was told
  24. GBS did say that maybe 1 in 5 carbs wont work with the pinto pump. They do sell a pressure regulator to go with the carbs, or you could use "filter king" which are quite popular or as greenie said even the fuel pump that originates from the said bike especially if your near any bike breakers. Should be a cheaper option. GBS should have re jetted the carbs to .80.
  25. Hi Darren, Have to be at work for 12.30 so can make it for the couple of hours before.
