  1. Help please, mini wiper to sierra wiring ---- Mini wiper has black -- blue/green -- red/green -- green/orange --brown/green & sierra has brown -- green -- red -- black/violet -- brown/white. Which goes to what & will I have 2 speed/intermittant control, many thanks.
  2. Instead of buying a new bonnet; cut existing bonnet down thru the middle, replace & clamp down with load-straps, mark how much overlap there is, rejoin bonnet halves with piano hinge after removing excess metal. This way you'll be able to get the bonnet to fit snug, regardless of your cars measurements.
  3. Up-date on propshaft question, 748 views, 30 posts, 16 returns of info requested & none of these of a failed 'shaft; so appears to be of little concern to our readers; ------------- now how do I get this yellow stain off my boots!!
  4. There is mail for you,all checked out O.K. ;regards Bob.

    New Model @ Gbs

Check again; looked O.K to me a few hours ago.
  6. Go to GBS site & hit on www.2bkits.com ----- model range is improving --- but my wife won't let me try one!!!
  7. Very "green"; it's powered by some-one pulling on the string bridle!!
  8. We have used the adjustable coluum from Sierra GLS ; raise the coluum to get in & out easily; set wheel & seat to comfy & no probs -- I'm 6' 1".
  9. When I get around to it ---- was going to use an old deep freeze cabinet with a smallish electric heater & 'stat. A query with your intended parts to be coated; will you need to completely strip diff & gearbox so as not to bugger any bearings/seals?
  10. 2nd. dibs on this if Andy's fixed up,regards Bob.
  11. Or look at the MINI engine top steady; vintage stuff though; not BMW mini; we used a cone type of "washer" on each side of something like Longboards 2nd. drawing to make mount as stiff as possible.
  12. Good art-work,but A & C are same load wise; & give a shearing moment to the rubber/steel union; B gives the best in compressive resistance & tension. ( check with others -- written by a SOAP)
  13. Is this prop shaft to diff. flange shown, if so they don't look like Mr. Ford's bolts, check spec. should be M10 x 1.0 x 10:9 HT & 4 in number. (Warning!! Check all above'cos it's written by a SOAP box speaker --- Silly or Stupid Old Age Pensioner

    Loom

We stripped & modded the Sierra loom;following the Haynes manual;biggest problem we had was working with a duff coluum switch (not known about) which was good one minute & dead later or the fault moved. Best bit is it gives you all the right colours & sizes & plenty of length.

    Gaz Shocks

Measure the hole, with a vernier or go/no go with drill shanks, mine were 12.7mm so purchased 1/2" UNF to avoid possible slop with 12mm bolts; & use bolts not set-screws for best amount of bearing surface, HTH.
  16. Did ours the other way - 4 peices of 2" x 1" channel inside car from seat back angle to round chassis tube across car (welded ears to tube ) then 2 x 8mm H/T bolts at each end; sit each seat on channel where-ever you like, may be even put in runners so they are adjustable for your misses, keeps the under side clean & stronger in the direction of load, downside some say, seat is raised by 1".
  17. Long boarder, your knowledge is far greater than mine & your test results would be far better than my paper-work exercise, but how many people & props would be up for that. My call for information from good & bad was to hopefully show frequency & time scale of issues measured against "good 'uns"; thus giving a more balanced view than just asking for reports on problems. As we all know complaints get aired far more frequently & forcefully than praise. Hope to get more input so-as to see size of problem even if we are unable to fully trace same; only feed-back from members will determine whether this is a useful exercise or p---- in the wind, regards Bob.
  18. 600 members - nearly 300 views of this post - but it appears we only have a dozen cars between us; more input please, regards & good-night, Bob.

From one with a terrible memory ahh yes would it be possible for the club to design/fund/issue a name badge; I would love to be able to greet by name rather than ummm err are you with this club? I would certainly wear mine at meets both local & national & it has the advantage of once removed you're ?? joe soap again, not compolsory to wear just when you want to be I.D. (always had trouble when teaching, ID of students took me from Sept to Xmas)
  20. QWERTY, I have been asked by Steve;the Chairman; to run this post in view of the many various comments on the Propshaft problems post. It is my aim to get as many replies as poss, GOOD & BAD, so as to get an accurate assesment of the propshaft issue, Steve will then approach GBS for a view based on our findings; so please, one & all, give us your details & whether or not your prop has given any cause for concern. The more replies we get the more accurate this survey will be. Clunk - click - every trip - but not your prop we trust, regards Bob.
  21. Thanks for the replies so-far ;if you could post them as per GRIZZLY's post it makes the reading & collating easier; keep them coming good & bad needed to give fair apraisal of this safety issue, regards Bob.
  22. & I've just thought it would be good to know what damage ( if any) was caused to car & occupants including laundry req!!
  23. I have been asked by Steve ,our boss, to gather all possible information on RH/GBS propshafts. We need to know all the following :- kit type - purchase date - if part built, date kit was manufactured - date of SVA/IVA - total mileage since SVA/IVA to prop failure/onset of prop problem - type of prop failure i.e. tube twisted/bearings/spline - maintainance carried out during life of prop - & not quite finished yet engine details - type & size - tuning mods or standard - Horse power, book value or rolling road only please - diff ratio & finally are engine & diff. a matched pair; from the same donor. We also want the same info IF YOUR PROP HASN'T GIVEN TROUBLE please this is vital to ensure a balanced view of this safety critical issue. (I am not a mechanic so forgive any stupid Q's ;just put my hand up to try & help you & the club produce safer motors) regards Bob Fry.

Short memories here, Steve , I put up for the commitee a while back (my opinion being if you ain't willing to help then don't complain if it ain,t to your liking) didn't even get a reply, but like GDC have keep quite & just enjoyed the valuable info given on this forum. More open-ness is wecome & the club working for the members would be great, which is why I try to raise "difficult" issues by P.M rather than on here; the prop-shaft question is one such case which the commitee should address for our benifit & safety. We must all realise that things can't be right for all the members all the time but I too have felt a them & us attitude at shows & at times on here, best wishes to all, hope this rant helps to produce some clearer air in the future, regards Bob.
