  1. I've kind of acedently started the same thing by moving the loom under the dash. a couple of plugs fell off and I lost all power in the car. looks like I've got a full original loom with hundreds of connections everywhere which all seem to have fallen off!
  2. hope these help marking where to bend marking where to cut. you may not need to do this. final result
  3. I managed to fit mine without any help but it is pain. First off if using both hoop make sure they are bent equally (mine wasn't) then make sure inner hoop fits within the outer so you can work out the joining pivot point. my kit had 2 mild steel 'L' brackets (no holes) about 4mm thick by 30mm wide. I laid the bars on the back of the car and kept clamping the brackets in different places to get the best mounting position. on the hood I started in the warmth of the house and found the centre of the back bottom edge and marked with tape and worked out equal spacing for the fasteners. I then took to the car to see how they lined up and whether they would foul anything before fitting the central stud. I then pulled the hood into position and clamped and marked fastening point on the car with tape. make sure the hood is warm when fitting as it will pull tight when cold instead of going saggy when warm. my hardest part to fit was the doors as I needed to cut the screen pillars and bend the doors to shape. I did a lot of searching on here and used other people's photos and posts to guide me through and I think it went well.
  4. is there a photobucket app, that's what I use on iPhone (no flash compatability)
  5. I cheered up abit on Sunday as I managed to spend a couple of hours in the garage, although I managed to snap a bleed screw in the front caliper without any effort which was a bit odd. I think all the extra overtime I've been doing and starting an HNC course stressed me out somewhat when I first posted! just going to do a bit at a time and not worry about time scale, pick up bits as and when I can afford them.
  6. Feeling a bit demotivated with the Exmo at the minute, took it off the road last winter for a bit of tlc but due to the harsh winter couldn't spend long in the garage. spent a bit/lot of money at the shows and had every intention of getting the car back on the road this year but time and funds have dried up. just feels like every thing I try to do leads to more cost. The steering column lower bearing could be the last straw, in order to get to it I've had to split wiring looms (all soldered direct to swiches) pull apart the peddle box cover (all glued down and sealed) and now having to remove the servo and master cylinder which is badly corroded/leaking and means cutting the brake lines off. Anyway rant over, I might be allowed in the garage one night this week so might get the bearing fitted eventually.
  7. the middle trim is same as mine and works well, I also like the chrome finish but when I tried to use some on mine it kinked and kept popping off. mines an Exmo though so might be different scuttle shape.
  8. nice job, I like that. I think it's finally swade me which needle/back/bezzle combination I will go for when I can afford it.
  9. just got that bearing and housing in the post today and quality seems fine. 3 hole plates do exactly same job as two hole but obviously couldn't be used if you where replacing a std 2 hole housing for alignment reasons. my original plastic bearing (triangular internal hole) was just worn enough to be a tight push fit so one job ticked off. My problem is getting to the bulkhead to drill it. my back is now killing me and I'm no closer to achieving this yet. Will have to remove the servo and master cylinder and try from the engine bay.
  10. for photo upload, you can use a free site like photobucket to upload then post the [\IMG] link they give you. can't help with S7 info though, sorry.

    Garage Refurb

thanks marsbar, might have to wait for some money to come my way. looks like I'll need a tube for each joint which means I need quite a few!
  12. mines feeling all neglected at the minute, the tintop just stole £600 off it for new tyres, and i'm now having to repair the garage due to tree damage. trying to keep it dry without needing the roof on. on the water in the vents problem, have you tried a fine perforated alli plate at an angle. it will still let heat out but would cause majority of water to run off to the side.

    Garage Refurb

Does anybody know the name of the sealant used between the joints on precast concrete garages? and a cheap supplier also. After 7 years mines dried out and shrunk, resulting in rain sneaking in. thanks jamie
  14. not sure I would trust it enough to work underneath without extra support unless there is the ability to lock with a pin. also what stops the car just sliding off?

    Where And How/

if Mick doesn't take you up I'll gladly take one as I don't really want to kill mine unless I know it's all going to work. regards jamie

    Exmo Coil Over Shocks

the exmo fronts are actually ford p100 inserts with a machined sleeve pressed over the top. euro car parts stock the full p100 strut which you should be able to butcher or you could ring Gaz who told me they could make some for approx £80 each.
  18. there's a yellow (I think) exmo with cycle wings that looks quite good, I think they cut into the wing and shaped it around the top cross member and mounted it there. obviously this method means they won't turn with the wheels though. for the time and money it would take to convert to wishbones I think I would rather build a new zero. (very tempting but no funds )
  19. my exmo has a two stud fixing and no cradle and mines been that way for over ten years. don't over tighten the bolt as It will pull the rear panel into the recess of the wheel and distort it.
  20. Not sure how but we managed to miss the rain today, drove down from Hull in major down pour got to the gate and the sun came out brill. A little anoyed that we had to pay £2 each for the kids (6 and 3) was expecting they would be free but hay ho. Looks like RHOCar had best attended stand once again and the veriaty of stalls was alot better then Stoneleigh, I love digging around in £1 buckets. On that note I saw a sign for lincolnshire auto jumble on the way home, i think it said 25th so next weekend, is it worth going to?
  21. Hello everyone, can anybody recommend a 4 point harness which has the lower adjustment close to the buckle. Having just fitted my new seats I find that I can not now access the lower adjustment points of the current 3 point harness I have. this would not normally be an issue for me but I do have varying sizes of passengers. Can somebody also tell me the centres of the rear mounting bosses on the 2b or Zero and what size bolts are used to mount the belts as I am having the roll bar modified to take 4 points. thanks Jay
  22. I too have looked at this and have found several accounts of the hex systems wearing, unless you go down the the pro route of splined (and expensive) I think a bolt on adaptor will be the best option. I used to have a 'snap-off' boss kit in my tin top which was a good fit and was used every day for 3 years without wear but these kits will bring the wheel upto 2" closer to the driver. there seems to be plenty of cars on display at the shows without the wheel on but I never found any of the owners to speak too but I'm sure someone will recommend a supplier they have used.
  23. the new style MOT certs have had a sticker you car peel off and stick in the car for a while, I've never used it though. the last place I got tested at gave me a black key ring that has now started flashing MOT DUE which is a good idea ( If it wasn't shoved in my tool box )
