  1. I would concentrate getting it on the road then after IVA spend the money on special items. I have probably spent £6k but I'm tight and look everywhere for a bargin, not worried about the registration plate. Just be careful some have spent a fortune and have really good cars but are surprised when they sell no where near the price they believe the car should be worth.

    Appoligise

Tom, Don't worry about it, there is always some friction on any forum likewise there's always some good banter its human nature. Read Shafts signature comment its so true. All the best for the build.

    Build Time

Its been nearly three years but 6 months was stripping and preparing the donor. It has always been at the bottom of thing to do list with SWMBO I have a priority list garage time is almost a reward. Work/Family (joint first), Fostering, MSc, House DIY, Holidays with family, Maintaining family and friends cars then the kit car, if the grass doesn't need cutting. On a few occasions I have gone 3 months without opening the garage door. Time is priceless, I could of taken a few short cuts like buying a loom rather than making good the old sierra loom, use ali instead of stainless steel (horrible to work with) but that said I am enjoying the build and wouldn't change anything.
  4. I have struggled to find something similar specifically for the Zero so I have just ordered some acrylic/perspex sheet in yellow off eBay to build my own. Regards Mark
  5. Jase, Sorry working away from home, I will get to meet eventually.
  6. Steve, I would like to become more involved with RHOCaR committee and progressing onto a more challenging role in time. I am currently Treasurer for the Midlands Institute of Road Transport Engineers and active member Chartered Quality Institute. Unfortunately I have limited time until I complete my MSc then back to the build 2 years and counting, so start small and grow as more time becomes available.
  7. Bob, It was heavy, I agree this is one of the benefits of Rhocar membership helping each other out.
  8. Bob, I live in Telford and work in Oldbury, Birmingham for two days a week and visit our Head office in Basingstoke normally 1-2 days a week. If you get no offers I gladly deliver to Basingstoke. Regards Mark

    Iva

I sent a letter to DVLA to request a chassis number they called stated the Zero is a kit car conversion and will have a Q plate although I am using a single donor and have the V5. Good news I have the chassis number but will wait for debate after IVA. Another example of government agencies not working together and costing the tax payer more money.
  10. Bob, A very good tidy looking exhaust and probably one of the best I have seen through the bonnet. I am not a fan of the bonnet exit exhaust but a zero with xflow is difficult because the chassis bracing, alternator and starter is all on the same side not much room for a single exit pipe exhaust.
  11. Hi Scott, I drilled a small hole the same diameter as the magnet and glued it into the final drive flange. Then used a p clip to mount the sensor, which i have now modified using two p clips for stability and to stop vibration.
  12. Jase, I have been trying to get to a meet for a while but I am either away with work or travelling back not getting home until after 21.00. Maybe next time i have leave. Thank you.
  13. I have spoken to GBS but I am looking for something closer to home, its a long drive with car trailer plus hiring/borrowing a trailer, fuel etc. I could probably borrow a flat bed for a local move. Also they would have to fabricate a one off which takes time because I'm stuck in a time warp, xflow fitted to a Zero. I like the examples so far clean and level with the bottom edge of the car. Thank you, any more.......

    D-Day

All the best Al shouldn't be any issues I assume GBS have given it a once over.
  15. Engine and gear box in all ancillaries fitted. I have talked to a few exhaust builders can anybody recommend a good firm in west Midlands? Also for inspiration can you please upload picture of exhaust systems fitted to your kit cars, probably easier to show the builder than explain it? Thanks in advance. Mark
  16. Its not only about trust, all businesses must be competitive I will buy good quality parts of the cheapest and most reliable seller.
  17. Hi I have not gone through IVA yet so can not provide any advice, but could you please tell me where you got the top ball joint covers from please? Thank you. Mark
