  1. 512 Gig memory sticks? Really? I don't think they exist yet. Sorry to hear you got caught out on this one. https://fightflashfraud.wordpress.com/2011/02/24/512gb-flash-drives-dont-exist/ I also had some fake sony memory sticks for a PSP I have. I immediately got back to ebay complaining about these fakes and got a full refund. You should try this too in order to help try and stamp out these counterfeit goods. Simon.
  2. Congratulations and wishing many years of happiness. Sorry I couldn't make it for this one. Simon.
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9C8zi4xvsxg Sorry there are no photos / videos of the meal and other items afterwards. Can't say I remember much of that apart from me chatting to some students and grabbing a bit of pizza ... Simon.

    Bad News

True, and it may also happen when you're not around to remove the power too. Bare wires touching the chassis would weld themselves to it so look out for any wires that have done this as that could be the cause. Look and see which wires are the most damaged as that circuit would most likely be the culprit. Simon.
  5. What did you attach to the chassis, the sensor or the wire going to it? Have you got a multimeter? If you have select the ohms or resistance meter part and disconnect the wire temporarily and measure the resistance from the sensor connection to the chassis. It should vary depending on the temperature of the engine getting smaller the hotter the engine gets. As Ian says, if you disconnect the wire and touch it to the chassis, the meter should register a reading. If nothing happens, then test the wire from the sensor to the back of the gauge to see if there is a break anywhere. If not, then try putting a link from the chassis to the gauge input and see if that makes a change. If not - suspect the meter. Simon.

    Fog Light.

What does it say on the wiring diagram? It should have the colour code there somewhere. Simon.

    Sensors

That makes sense of course. The Emerald ECU doesn't have such an input so I couldn't tell if that was the general case. As you say, it would make sense to have a switch input to the ECU to do that. However I wouldn't feel too happy if a sudden loss of oil pressure meant the engine immediately cuts out. Imagine doing 70 in lane 3 on the M1 ... Simon.
  8. This is one where the top was made with my original mould and so has the holes already marked and cut in it. For that reason I'm offering these at a discounted price of £26 including postage. If you wish to gift the money through Paypal, I'll offer these at £25. Please PM me your details. Thanks, Simon.

    Sensors

There are two separate sensors for oil pressure. The original pressure switch and a separate pressure sensor. One is just a switch which is used for the dash warning light and the other actually measures pressure and can't be used for the dash light. I think mine is wired to the oil pressure gauge on mine and not the ECU. I'll check the information and get back on this one. Simon. (Edit) Yes, just checked the emerald ECU pin outs and the oil sensors (either of them) do not go there. So the switch is for the dash light and the pressure sensor is for the oil gauge. You can't use one sensor / switch to drive both. Simon.

    Quite

Quite quiet in here Eh? Simon.
  11. Don't get me wrong here, Teamviewer and supremocontrol may indeed be legitimate programs that are very useful. However, Microsoft already has remote desktop built in to the operating system which does the same job if you know how to set it up. It not these programs that are the problem, it's the scammers who use them. (Had another call today, but I was ticked off with something else so I just told them they were scammers and they just hung up pretty quickly. ) Simon.
  12. Hmm, There's a thought ... 1. I do not own a shed, so that's sorted. 2. I DO own a greenhouse (kind of transparent shed I suppose so they can see there's only junk in there anyway) 3. There is no 3. But I think it's more likely that they just want to scam me through the internet and listening to the background noise of all the other operators doing EXACTLY the same thing to others, it's a pretty scary thought that someone will fall for this scam. So, I had some fun with my own phising and reeling them in hook line and sinker. Keeps them away from other suckers people ! I think I'll try the crime scene sketch on them next time and see what happens ! Simon.
  13. I think that would be way over their head. They probably never had string when they were growing up ... ... or tin cans ...
  14. I've just had some fun with some scammers who rang me this morning. I'll give you a short transcript so you know what to listen for. (I had some fun stringing them along, I was reeling them in... They were Phising ME ! Ha!) You too can string them along saying "Ooh, my computer is JUST starting up, it's really SLOW these days" and wait 5 to 10 minutes. "Ohh, it's just restarted itself, why did it do that? (another 5 - 10 minutes pass) If you can afford the time it's good fun. I think next time I'll insist on getting their details as they have just called a phone at "a scene of a murder", so you must know the deceased? And we need to take your details down as you may be implicated in a crime? If you hand up, you become our prime suspect in this murder? (That should be fun !) So, a short transcript ... ---------------------------------------- They'll tell you that your "router" (which is connected to your laptop / computer) is downloading malicious file to your computer. The first thing to note is that they'll say they are calling from your ISP (mine is talktalk) and are you sitting at your computer? "I'll just turn mine on", I said (and waited until it had started - took nearly 5 or 6 minutes ...) ! "find the windows key on your computer and press r when you press that", they said (I had a really bad line with them - which is suspicious ...) Now type in the "run box" which appears and then they call out each letter in turn, often with things like "T, for tiger" (which SHOULD be Tango, again suspicious) "d, for diver", I said. "no, no, t for tiger ...", Charles Xavier said (with a very strong indian accent ...) (he passed me to another indian accented Kevin ... Yea, right !) "Do you mean t for tango?", I said (surely they must twig something by now?) Nope ! They carried on with the script in front of them. So, I had a bit of fun and strung them along for a bit ... I asked them for my name and address (which they couldn't supply and said they were only the IT support "International technical" - What?!! I said? That's not what it stands for, but they insisted... I even said they were trying to scam an IT technician, but they said "no,no, why would we scam you?" (Let me guess ....) ----------------------------- In short, they'll ask you to open "eventvwr" or Event viewer and show you all the (so called) errors on the screen. The first time I got this, the caller called out the name of "Jesus", but I don't think he'll be able to help me on this matter ... ! Simply put, Event viewer is there to show you the log files that are present on your computer and, yes, there will be entries with "Warning" and "error" attached. THIS IS COMPLETELY NORMAL OPERATION. Let me stress this again - IT IS NORMAL to see these. If you have an up to date anti virus you need not worry about these entries. What they will try and get you to do is go to a website like (www. supremocontrol. com) or (www. teamviewer. com) (Don't do this of course. I have put spaces in there deliberately) What these programs will attempt to do is take remote control of your computer and then THEY will be moving your mouse cursor and operating your keyboard. (You should NOT let that happen of course) So, I've now had them on the line 3 times, once yesterday and twice today and held onto them for about 20 minutes each time ... Seems like that's all they're allowed each time ? I hope they can pay their phone bill ... ------------------------------------------------ So, to repeat, if your ISP calls you (or Microsoft who NEVER will call you), then ask them what your name and address is (They should know this) and NEVER give out information like passwords, your name or address or any personal details. (I think they're calling again ... Darn it, couldn't get to the phone in time this time) ! They may consider me an easy Phish to catch. Poor them, they don't know what a shark looks like ... Simon.
  15. Each lamp can be replaced with a 6 ohm 50 Watt power resistor. You could use a 25 Watt resistor but that would need to be bolted to some metal plate to absorb the heat produced. Simon.
  16. I've posted up some more videos on youtube https://www.youtube.com/user/Smidsy7 So progress is happening and I hope this new mould stands up better than the last one did. Simon.
  17. Update on progress. Cleaned up master mould for the bottom piece and started to create plug for the top cover. Simon.
  18. I've been busy today learning how to post stuff to YouTube. I have created the master mould now and put some videos on there so this is part a test to see if my youtube channel is visible to you. https://www.youtube.com/user/Smidsy7 There are some fibreglass videos in the playlist taken with two different cameras. One I didn't know could only record 20 minutes at a time Good for insomnia ... Forgot to add some pictures ... I'll leave this on the plug for at least 24 hours before removing it to give the gelcoat time to cure since it needs absence of air to cure properly unlike flowcoat. Simon.
  19. You wouldn't want to take a bite of that one. It's rather waxy and chewy although it does smell rather nicely of polish ... Simon.
  20. That's a good idea. I'll start writing up my progress and learning experiences I encountered while doing this. I'll probably get it into some sort of Word doc format and then submit it. But to who should I send the final copy? Simon.
  21. Update on progress. And some real dedication ...
  22. Great, Can't wait ... Er, but there's no rush so I'll have to ! Thanks, Simon.
  23. Sorry to hear about your problems fitting these. I tried to make them as close to an exact copy of the originals as possible. I am making some minor modifications to the mould which will give a little extra space in the bottom cowling. See my other post on this for a picture. The original cowls came from a Sierra that was tucked away at the back of a local scrap yard. Simon.
