  1. And then there's the classic ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTcRRaXV-fg Simon.
  2. If the megajolt can output a pulse train, then it might. Like I mentioned, it may be possible to make these work together with a few small parts. It depends on whether or not the megajolt can drive the tacho input. Simon.
  3. Thanks for pointing out the "4 cyl" on the picture. I missed that (it was rather small ) If the pulse counters are old and need a high voltage pulse from the coil, I could make a small interface circuit to match modern output to this. Probably only needs one or two transistors to do the job. (hint to Jaimo ) Simon.
  4. Did the rev counter come from another 4 cylinder engine? If it came out of anything with more than 4 pots, you could under read your correct rpm. Looks easy to swap over though. Simon.
  5. So, does that mean if the ballast lamp fails that the Fog light then turns on? Also, are you momentarily shorting 12 volts to ground? Curious, Simon.
  6. Ok then. That's going to be my next project when I get back. After I finish doing a batch of steering column covers in various colours ... I'm also wondering if I can make a vacuum forming machine as I could then make them in seconds rather than hours Simon.
  7. Heck, Duct tape is what got Apollo 13 back from the Moon too, so must be good stuff Simon.
  8. Good idea, but that ballast lamp could fail leaving you scratching your head as to why it's no longer working. Anyway, I'm still pleased that there is some interest in my college project ... P.s I still have some for sale at a good price. If I get people interested in buying my products, then I am more inclined to make other useful ideas, such as Automatic headlights for driving in the dark ... fuel gauge adapter for matching any sender to any gauge - WITH the low fuel warning light thrown in and not as an added extra ... KITT car voice activated accessories (Ok, my mind is wandering now ... Simon.
  9. As is well known, Gaffer tape is like "The Force" ... It has a Light Side and a Dark Side and holds the universe together ... Simon.
  10. I'll not be able to attend this one. Should be good for Feb though. Simon.
  11. I think I still have mine buried somewhere too. I can't get it until after Christmas though. Simon.
  12. Light can easily be bent, look at how prisms work. But, to address the bending of light around a star or black hole, it is the space itself which is bent by the presence of the massive body and light just travels around this bend. Kind of like Brooklands racetrack was ... Simon.
  13. Time is not properly understood at present, but it is known that it can only travel forwards in time. Hypothetical time travel machines are really just that. It is possible to travel forwards in time, provided you travel fast enough. If you can travel at (say) 95% of the speed of light out to a star which is 5 light years away, turn around immediately and travel back at 95% of c (light speed), you would have aged about 1 year, but your twin on Earth would have aged 10 years. However, the amount of energy required to accelerate, stop and turn around would be immense. That's also one reason why the moon landings can be proven to be true. Radio waves travel at light speed and require about 1.5 seconds to get to the Moon. That's why there was always this delay when Neil Armstrong answered simple questions. Also, anyone with an antenna pointed to the Moon would have picked up the messages directly and could pinpoint the direction they were coming from. Conspiracy nuts overlook this obvious fact ! Simon.
  14. Erm, no. The other way around. Time passes slower in a gravity well. The film Interstellar got this right. I suppose that when you dig yourself into a hole, time indeed passes VERY SLOWLY for you... !
  15. Snapperpaul is right. Photons have no mass which is why they can travel at the speed of light. Also note that the speed of light depends upon the medium it is travelling in and is maximum in a vacuum. Gravity is a weak force compared to the electromagnetic forces and nuclear forces which keep the nucleus of atoms together. This is why it takes a very large object such as a planet or star to create enough to keep planets in orbit. Everything that has mass has gravity, so the more massive the object is, the more force there is between two objects. That's why the more massive or dense a particular object is, the heavier it is and the harder it is to move them too. If an object is massive enough, it can become a black hole into which everything falls and even light cannot escape. Also, in a gravity well such as the surface of this planet, time passes at a slower pace than in free space. Of course everyone knows that time is relative as it depends on which side of the toilet door you are standing (or sitting) Physics 101 Astronomy and relativistic dynamics ... Simon.
  16. Gee, I still remember this ... And before that ... And then ... Those were the days ...
  17. I can't get it to expand either. All I get is a spinning circle. Simon.
  18. Seems like there is still a demand for these. So I'll start making batches again next year. I need all the encouragement I can get to make these as it's messy and rather smelly work Simon.
  19. I can make up these parts from a pattern I made. Here are some I made earlier. I can also make these in yellow at the moment. If you would like another colour, I would have to buy the colour in for it. I haven't got any made up yet and will be away soon. So if you still need these, let me know and I can start making these again. I usually ask £30 for the pair. P.s. I will make the next set with all the holes blanked off so you can cut them out as desired. This photo is from and early batch. Simon.
  20. +2 for Bapp as there is a local near me and the bag of bolts of various sizes I am still only about 1/3 way through. Simon.
  21. I think no one would rush into automatic gunfire. That's reminiscent of World War I going up against machine guns. It's not going to happen. Such tragic news. I pray that this will never happen again. Simon.
  22. My thoughts are with them today. Simon.
  23. I would still get a letter confirming all this from both the police and the insurance company as written proof. People have notoriously short memories concerning items such as this. Simon.
