  1. It's a bit out of your way, but you could try http://www.barwelltrailerhire.co.uk/
  2. B*gg*er. I need 80mm spacing. Oh well, on to plan X. Thanks Nigel.
  3. Calling all Jenvey owners! Could you measure your injector port spacing for me (standard twin-body type). I'm looking at Jenvey fuel rails for my none-Jenvey application. Cheers.
  4. Agreed. I find the worst for driving a foot off your bumper and being generally aggressive are middle aged men in small courier vans, closely followed by the executive saloon brigade.

    Inlet Manifolds

FOR SALE BOTH SOLD I have two inlet manifolds for sale. The first is a Pinto-DCOE manifold, 3" (75mm), with carb fitting kit and studs. 6mm vac take-off (included) and take-off for water supply. This is in pretty much as-new condition and was only briefly fitted to my car but has never really been used in anger. The same applies to the fitting kit. Secondly I have a manifold which I believe is from a Zetec ST170, and includes a kit to fit bike carbs or throttle bodies (4 x silicon hose 70mm x 50mm i.d; 8 x jubilee clips; 2 mounting shim things). The manifold is plastic and is in used condition. It's possible to fit a zetec fuel rail directly to the manifold. It has the following marks for identification: Ford 12/03, 01087200, 2M5V-9425, PA6-GF30. Both £35 each + postage.
  6. Probably not the most obvious place to try selling a Metro, but you never know..... Ok, I have for sale an early Mk1 MG Metro (1982). Silver with MG Graphics and grey MG interior with red detailing. Immaculate pepper-pot syle alloys. 1275cc A-Series engine. Genuine 32,000 miles from new. 2 lady owners. Lots of paperwork.... Describing the condition of older cars is always subjective, but I think it's very good overall for the age, and the interior is immaculate. It's all original too - no pimping or dodgy mods here. It runs, is driveable and all the electrics work, but it doesn't currently have an MOT. I've overhauled the ignition to get it running, fitting new leads, plugs, points, etc. I've replaced a few vacuum and fuel lines and it has a brand new battery fitted. Right, as you can see from the pictures it's in great overall condition, but this is currently everything that I'm aware is wrong with it: Bodywork. There's a dent in the boot where the previous owner reversed into a gate post. There's a small crease in the front n/s wing. There's some light surface rust on the n/s rear wing. Front bumper is a bit shabby. Any other dings/scratches/chips/rust are just what you would expect of a near 30 year old car, and not worthy of a specific mention. Mechanical. It definately needs a new exhaust back box Hydragas suspension needs pumping up Other. Tail gate hydraulic ram doesn't hold the boot lid up. Apart from that it could do with a general service (oil change etc), and for peace of mind you might want to put four new tyres on as I can't say how old they are. £750. (Based on what similar cars are going for on ebay) More photos here MG Metro photos

    Sierra For Sale

I should emphasise that I have to put a price on to satisfy the rules, but the guy is open to offers. Also, it's nowt to do with me, so don't be affraid of offending - I'm just the messenger
  9. Posted my application between Christmas and New Year and finally got a date through yesterday - March 23rd! So, about 3 months wait, though there was a mix up with my form. I've no doubt it goes smoothly 99% of the time, but when there's a hitch expect headaches. The initiative seems to be on you to contact them if there's any problem, which would be fine if you COULD contact them, but I found it virtually impossible. Above all make sure you're 100% accurate with your contact details on the application form.
  10. Depends what paint finish you want and how much you can prep yourself - £500 for a 'cheap' job upto....well, as high as you want to go really. I wouldn't expect much change from a grand for a professional job including all prep work.

    Sierra For Sale

FOR SALE - 1993 Ford Sierra Sapphire GLSi 4-Door Saloon in Black 2.0ltr DOHC, 125k miles Advertising on behalf of a work collegue of sorts. It's been made to look like a Cosworth with side skirts and the distinctive bonnet vents. Apparently the owner's dream car was a cossie but this was as close as he could get. By all accounts he kept it immaculate and even polished under the bonnet! It's been well serviced and looked after, but has stood for the last few years so has the odd isue like a sticky handbrake, but it does run and the owner is rectifying the minor issues and getting it tidied up. It's got Focus alloys on with spacers, and a disc braked rear axle, which I think suggests an LSD? It's also had a new starter motor in the past 12 months. Well looked after Sierra for someone, or ideal donor car? £750 or offers.
  12. One of the tidiest (and simplest) solutions is the 'MK' style. Easier for you to look at a picture than for me to try and explain how it works.... The basic principal is sound, but you may find you have to adapt the design slightly depending on your setup. I have a 2B and use home-made brackets based on this design, but it took me three attempts to get it right - you tend to find on full-lock it will hit the bottom coilover bracket, or snag the brake-line or something. Good luck.

If you've built a super lightweight stripped-out trackday screamer then go for the digidash. Otherwise gauges all the way for me.

    Communicating With Vosa

S-I-G-H ...you couldn't make it up! Right, firstly I tried to get in touch with Martin at Nottingham (thanks for the heads-up Shaft), but as usual there's no direct line to the VOSA stations, and the 2 numbers I managed to find on google put me through to a driving test centre and Sheffield HGV test centre respectively, neither of which could help. I thought I'd give the main VOSA centre one last try, and miracle of miracles I actually managed to get through to someone! I explained the situation and they said I should have heard from my local test centre (Birmingham) by now, and put me through to them to find out what was going on. After a bit of hunting on the system, Birmingham were able to tell me that my application was processed and payment taken on 30 DECEMBER, but they still hadn't received any paperwork from Swansea, my application was with the 'technical department' and I would have to call VOSA headquarters back to find out more! So, back on the phone with Swansea, and after hunting on systems, transfers to different departments, etc, it turns out they can't release my application until I return an Amateur Build Declaration, which they apparently emailed me on 4th January! Well, I've certainly not received any such email, to which end I was informed in no uncertain terms it was my fault for not filling in my email address properly! Even if I didn't fill it in properly (I double checked everything and I'm certain it was fine!), they also have my phone number and home address, and nearly £500 of my money sitting in their account, so why over a month later am I having to spend the afternoon chasing them to find out what's going on? I was also told that "if I'd bothered to read the guidance notes..." (I did!)..."I'd know that I should have sent the amautuer build declaration with the IVA application form". Perhaps the rules have changed but I SVA'd 2 cars and on each occasion the Amatuer Build declaration wasn't required until it came to registration paperwork, AFTER SVA. GAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH it's annoying. So now I have to wait to receive the form from Swansea (by post - I insisted), and post it back to them before they'll release my application to Birmingham, who'll then issue me with a test date - probably sometime in May the rate we're going!

    Fuel Rail Mods

Fair enough . I've acquired some bike throttle bodies that came off a zetec installation, and used the zetec manifold and zetec fuel rail. With me so far? I'm sticking it on a pinto, so I can't use the zetec manifold, and the zetec fuel rail spacing doesn't fit the throttle bodies (the injectors fitted directly into the manifold in the zetec installation) I've re-spaced the throttle bodies to suit my aplication, so a standard bike injector rail won't fit either (CBR in this case). So, one way or another I need a new fuel rail and I can either cut and shut the zetec one in true robin hood style, or get an expensive custom billet one made up.

    Communicating With Vosa

Thanks for the replies, The Birmingham 0121 number is the one I've been trying, and the VOSA 0300 123 9000 number. Both ring endlessly. I've never once managed to get an answer. I'll try the area 8 email, failing that I guess it's a visit to Garrets Green!
  19. Does anyone have a tried and tested method of communicating with VOSA? The number I have just rings endlessly. Better still a direct number for Birmingham test centre? I've still not had a confirmed IVA date, or any form of communication for that matter, depsite them taking my money almost a month ago!

    Fuel Rail Mods

Does anyone know if it's possible to cut'n'shut a fuel rail, or is there a build your own fuel-rail kit out there somewhere? Cheers.
  22. It seems incredibly unprofessional and potentially damaging for a magazine to be printing rumour and gossip like that. Even it is straight from the horses mouth, I can't imagine MK will appreciate that kind of publicity.
  23. I've just switched to them too. £98!! Saved over £50 on Fluxy.
