  6. looks decent from the pics. i think i'd change the circus inspired colour scheme under the bonnet though!

    What Do I Need?

Hi Ell, Welcome to the forum. Some things to consider regarding the purchase of a part built kit that are related to the eventual registering of your kit on the road. One of the tricky issues that i went through with mine (bought as a part built kit) is that VOSA want to see evidence that the car has been built by an amateur. There are seperate, tricky tests for professionally built cars, so amateur status is worth getting. So its up to you to prove that this is an amateur build. And for this you will need reciepts for various items, the orginal kit and any other parts would be good. They will also want to see photogrpahs that show the major components of the car being added to the car in an amateur environment (something that doesnt look like a professional garage) I'd also want to see a V5 from the donor car as this will help registration, and get you a real registration rather than a Q plate that some people dont seem to like. The job of getting my car on the road after buying it as a part built was an absolute nightmare. I wouldnt wish it on anyone. We frequently hit brick walls with VOSA saying things like, "you'll have to take it apart again and re assemble it taking pictures as you go" or them telling me that there was "no wasy that this car was ever going to get on the road" my experience was 2 years ago now, so things may have changed, but my advice would remain, be very careful buying a part built kit. i'd actually see if anyone on here would look over it with you. There are threads on here where people have bought 95% complete cars and ended up stripping them down to a bare chassis because the more they looked and the more bits they took off the worse the build then became. this may not be the case with this one, but again, i'd be very careful! that said theres loads of support here, its a great forum, very friendly and huge amounts of knowledge. paul

this is a cracking car. cant speak highly enough about the build quality. if only there wasnt something else in my garage at the moment. (in pieces and not going!) this car also did a trip to le mans when i owned it.
  11. 1990-91 Robin Hood S7 Jaguar V12 engined i'd still like this. anyone know who owns it now? Paul

  14. we could probably sort some sort of photo opportunity out at the castle, few hoods parked on the grass outside etc? we have a couple of useful friends in the museums and galleries dept of the council
  15. message from my friend: we do have bears dressed as Robin Hood, a small one 14cm tall @ £3.00, a bigger one 22cm @ £5.00. They are quite nice, I only get 10% discount in the shop but am happy to get one for you - just let me know. if you want to go down this route i'm more than happy to buy the buy for the cause. paul
  16. i have a friend that works at Nottingham castle. I'll ask her if they do a Robin Hood bear. I can do notts, derbys, and travel about a bit with work so may be able to help out on longer trips if required. paul
  17. I nipped out of work on wednesday this week to get a bit of fresh air and went for a walk along the industrial estate where we are based. walking past the ferrari garage i spotted a familiar figure, Richard Stewart. Stopped and had a chat with him, about kit cars and cars in general and he mentioned that he was after a new car as his current one wasnt very comfy for everyday driving. "whats your current car?" "oh its the Gallardo over there" That would be the bright yellow lambo gallardo in the car park then! proper nice chap, and clearly done very well for himself out of the sales of RH
  18. the comfiest seats i've been on were in the vindicator demonstrator. they are a cobra roadster seat, but with the seat cushion re-upholstered and the tickness of the pad doubles. very comfy on the bum, and the rest of the seat is very supportive laterally. cobras in mine. my dad has a pair of richfield seats in his seres two, and though they werent cheap they are a really nice quality seat paul

    Driving Holiday ...

last time in the US was hawaii, in a lovely mustang convertible. great fun. other than that its been on the mainland in hyundais and fords. easy place to drive though, so much space. see if you can find an NSRA meet when you're there. my first trip alone to the states five hours after landing i was at a hod rod show. quite an intrduction!
  20. good read. this is going to be fund to follow. paul
  21. there are often occasions when the legal doesnt equal moral. legal is defined by government. moral by individuals each responsible for their own actions if we lived in a more moral world where where people were more concerned about others rather than getting themselves to the front of the queue that might be a nicer place to be. just a thought. not sure what to do next time i see a merge in turn thing though now might have to give it a go, see how it feels
  22. i wonder if this is a case of there being a difference between what is legal, and what is morally right?
  23. i think the reason so few people actually do the merging in turn thing is that as someone said earlier we're english and its a queue. despite it being the right thing to do on the road i still know it feels wrong morally. one big queue of patient traffic and then a guy comes hurtling down overtaking everyone and getting in right at the front of the queue. it just seems wrong. i accept its the best way to get everyone through the merging, and i know i should do it, but theres something in me that makes me find it really hard. (ducks)
