  1. I like what Mark B said too. I have had an idea for a long time since i served on a warship. Let's hot-bed prisoners. They are constantly bleating on about overcrowding and giving prisoners early release when they should be locked away and punished. Firstly, get them out working. With the money it would save the government having this free labour, employ more guards. Give them shotguns and put the prisoners out to work, be it in pits or out on roads cleaning. whilst these are out working, get more prisoners in the now empty jail. When they have done their 12 hour shift they can get in the empty beds of the others who can now go out and work. If they step out of line, they get shot. We need to stop being so soft with these people. Granted, some are too dangerous to let out *, but the majority of the prison population can work. We can then make their sentences longer and really punish them. At the same time, we have instantly doubled the capacity of our jails. * If we brought back corporal punishment most of these would be killed off anyway. Why the *bleep* should we keep alive child rapists and murderers? what good comes from keeping these sick people alive?

  3. i used some stuff by a company called PRC DeSotto, it is used to seal the fuel tanks on the eurofighter. We had a load of it that the date had expired in work and subsequently got binned so i took a few kits home. it is everything proof, sets anaerobiclly and remains slightly flexible. if you can find any of that on the web then it is by far the best. it is a 2 pack compound and is superior to any other method of sealing anything! ProSeal 890 Class A P/S 890 Class A is an aircraft integral fuel tank sealant. It has a service temperature range from -65°F (-54°C) to 250°F (121°C), with intermittent excursions up to 275°F (135°C). This material is designed for brush and fay sealing of fuel tanks and other aircraft fuselage sealing applications. The cured sealant maintains excellent elastomeric properties after prolonged exposure to both jet fuel and aviation gas. P/S 890 Class A is a two-part, manganese dioxide cured polysulfide compound. The uncured material is suitable for application by brush in thickness up to 25 mils. It cures at room temperature to form a resilient sealant having excellent adhesion to common aircraft substrates. The Zero

A lot of people associate this chassis design to Ron Champion but it is actually Colin Chapman who designed it. Ron merely copied it to near enough exact design. It is the same design as a the cateram and westfield chassis. I have built 2 of those chassis now and they are very stiff and super light too. I had a pic of me holding it above my head with one arm, try doing that with a 2b chassis!!
  5. As a project a few years ago when i was a trainee in the RAF i designed and built a circuit that would receive the signal emitted from a radar and resend it with a delay after the first 2 pulses then a pre-emptive pulse from the unit to give the 'enemy' radar a false idea of velocity. This kind of thing is in use on military aircraft to prevent radar guided anti-aircraft guns from getting a lock on the target. Of course this only works on Doppler radar (which the police use) and it could easily be used to trick the police speed gun into thinking you were doing a different speed than what you actually are. one major problem is as well as making you seem slower, it also makes you seem faster to add confusion. so really it could get you in a lot more trouble. One day i may dig it out and have a play at making a unit that fools the revenue cameras (sorry, speed cameras) but until then, i just don't speed. no radar jammer can stop kids from misjudging your speed and running out into the road.

    Pinto Megajolt

Got mine from a bloke called Martin Millener. He can be contacted via the autosportlabs forum. All in it costs abot £150 to get it in and then a proper mapping session at a rolling road. It can be done with a gas analyser too but not as good. just make sure you mount it on anti-vibration mounts or the board will last a year till it falls apart. I opted for the TPS as opposed to the MAP sensor for engine load is it is more accurate with multiple carbs, unless you build a reservoir for the vacuum. ste

  10. It will be either 400 or 420bhp. the engine is a turbo shaft jet engine so it doesn't utilise exhaust gasses for thrust, instead it has a shaft output. As the engine runs at very high rpm the output is geared down giving massive torque. It is not unusual for these engines to be used in other applications. Tanks, hovercraft and ships also use turbo shaft jet engines. I dont know where he will ever drive that though as it will be way too loud for any uk track or road
  11. We already know that to be true

  13. It is worth noting that probably only a minority of people on here have actually tried to run a business. It is an extremely difficult thing to do and is worlds apart from being an employee. I know from my own experience how hard it is when starting off and although they have bought into an already running business there is a whole lot to do regarding the general upkeep of the company. My hat goes off to anyone who successfully operates a business in this day and age. We all must be a bit understanding of the challenges that face GBS during there first years in charge. Yes, they will make mistakes and will upset people but they will learn from this and that will help them prioritise each and every task they face. We only see the customer service side of things and can be quick to shoot them down, but they have a lot of things behind the scenes that may seem trivial or less important to the person whose mirrors arrived late or order got mixed up. And it is those things that will keep the company afloat and upsetting the odd customer is part and parcel of any operation. To all at GBS, keep up the hard work and we as a club will continue to support and promote your products. ps, my free zero can be sent to..........
  14. megajolt is fantastic, there is so much more control than just a dizzy
  15. My digi dash records 0-60 times and i tried it before and with the engine completely out of tune and probably only 130 bhp it done a 5.7sec. couldn't keep the power down as i need to get camber wedges for the rear as it left skinny wheel spin marks when i went from first to second. Tyres are yoko a520's so with sticky tyres, fully tuned and camber right i guess 4.8

    C20xe Head Mod

The problem being is that i have scrapped the old dizzy after i made the cover plate thinking that would suffice. I'll have a hunt around for the kits jim was on about as i am happy with the cams i have now as they show no wear and look like new. cheers edit: SBD want £25 for blanking plug, 60p for seal and 60p for cam oilway bung. They do a part ex on your old dizzy so gutted i haven't got mine any more

    C20xe Head Mod

Thanks for the links and pics, I'm going to try and make a plug on the lathe once i get the contactor switch working again Had a look through sbd's site and couldn't see anything they sell to do the job. Thing is, i only have 5mm to play with at the rear of the head as the header tank is there. Going to do the breather mod asap then see how soon i can make a blank plug. There is one on ebay but that is a plate, the same as i made but this won't work!!
  24. I agree, Closing threads so that Mods get the last word is a bit unfair. especially when there is still discussion to be had. I appologised for offending anyone, not for starting a debate, but it seems that is not allowed!

    C20xe Head Mod

Does anyone have the details of the head mod for the vauxhall c20xe? As some of you will know, it lost a lot of oil at Stoneleigh dues to the cover plate over where the dizzy used to come out the head dropping its seal and letting go of most of the oil. I remember someone telling me of a mod to redirect the oil or de pressurise it in the head to help stop this occurring. I have tried a search but can't find any threads on here about it. cheers ste
