Surely it cannot be right,

When you look at everything on it it is the robin hood lightweight kit including the Array alloys!

Did we ever get to thebottom of the 32 ford on here made by dooster a couple omonths back that had since been registered as an original 32 ford?

Am sure some of our members of the constabulary woudl be able to tell us more about this

After a very quick perusal I can't see that tis is legal at all!

To claim the car as an original lotus he would have to be using the original chassis or possibly the bodywork. If you follow his example to its logical conclusion then any Robin hood, MK, Westfield etc could be said to a Lotus. What he appears to have done is to stamp a Lotus chassis number into a new chassis which is in fact something else (a Robin Hood). Think that amounts to car ringing!

The only doubt I have is that if ,Eg, you rebody an Escort (complete new shell) do you put a new chassis/ID No. on the car or the original one? If it's the original one then you could claim this is ther same thing , although personally I think it's stretching things too far.

PS the 2 above post confirm that this is a ringer - the new chassis is not identical to the original. therefore the car is misdescribed

This is quite extraordinary. <_<

That car is not a 1969 Lotus 7. It is a Robin Hood Lightweight. To advertise it for sale as a Lotus is outrageous and would certainly amount to either Trade Description infringements or more simply Attempting To Obtain Property By Deception.

Warwick, has someone helped themselves to your photos off this site or is this really you? I would strongly advise removing this auction immediately. You are already attracting a number of bids from people who are being misled.

Exactly what components from a 1969 Lotus 7 are you 'rebuilding' from? Have you bolted the Lightweight tub to the Lotus chassis?

Are you planning to leave the country five minutes after the cash is handed over?

OR.... have you found a legal loophole that has evaded every person in this club????

Or is this what you are up to???:

Your wrong, if the said old car wasn't put into the new DVLA computer system when it came about and they cant trace the VIN no, all they require is proof of date of manufacture. This can be from a car club or manufacturer if still going. They then issue you with age related plates and if it it was made before 1971 you get historic road tax too. You can basically build a brand new classic car out of new bits and still get it registered at the time of manufacture. I've done it 3 times now, walk into DVLA with the paperwork, 48hrs later you get issued your new number plate and tax disc. No SVA required.

Warwick

You are advertising this car for sale as a 1969 Lotus-Caterham 7. It is a Robin Hood Lightweight that you have persuaded the DVLA to register as a 1969 Lotus-Caterham 7. This is a gross misrepresentation, and if I were the 'lucky' winner of this auction thinking I was acquiring a classic Lotus I would instigate legal proceedings immediately through civil remedy or criminally by complaint to the police. This is not the way to solve the lightweight SVA problem.

I urge you in the strongest terms to remove this auction Warwick.

Now, if you will excuse me I must get back to the garage where I am rebuilding a 1933 Napier-Railton using an old sinclair C5 and some gaffer tape. ;)

Hi Rich I did wonder how long it would be before you appeared. :p :p :p

He was saying on his profile under other interests that the car was for sale on eBay but that has now been removed.

Hi MOT runs out in May 2007, so I assume it was tested in May 2006, was this a full SVA test, or just a normal MOT? Also what parts are left over from the original Lotus car? Looking at the description I guess the chassis number plate is the only thing!! How many parts were taken from a Sierra Donor that Robin Hood suggest?
