I spent today at the show and I'll say the following;

Pro's

Club area and the rhocar car stand was very good. I had a good time chatting with members.

The 750mc racing was a really good feature to the show and I thoroughly enjoyed watching.

Con's

Admission fee and camping fees are ott. My swmbo wasn't best pleased at paying £15 to get in.

The main hall felt abit like "same cars - different show"

I hope the show continues, and i hope the show's organisers listen to what can be improved.

My final word goes to Mick......, your car looked great in the main hall under the spot-light! Well done mate!

It has been said on here many times after shows all I can say is those of us in the gazebo on the stand are there for you to come and chat to so just interrupted. I can assure you that we dont bite

Well said Phil. You have to make the effort to walk over and say hello & get a brew etc. The guys on the stand certainly don't bite, although the odd pi55 take and you are fair game (along with everyone else) :D

Sorry I missed the show, work got in the way..

Well the old saying is "you can't please all of the people all of the time" is certainly true but there are more "fors " than "Victor Meldrew's" so it must have been good !!.Yes I got in for nowt but would still have gone with out being in the hall , I talked to lots of people some of who didn't even know there was an owners club ,I have some moans ,very expensive and very average food £5 for a bacon sarnie is robbery !!!, some snotty security staff but other wise a cracking weekend mick [mower man ] p.s thanks for those who supported me with visits to the heretige stand big thanks lads you know who you are

I only managed a couple of hours on the Sunday afternoon due to work commitments.

I thought for a new show it was good, small, but good none the less.

Rhocar stand was bursting at the seams as usual and a great place to socialise.

New comers need to interrupt and introduce themselves. If your on here, just say your username

and that will break a lot of ice. I've said before, its difficult to to determine who wants a chat and who is

just saying a polite hello as they pass by looking at cars. Remember, all the groups of friends that are

stood around chatting all met through this forum and RHOCaR in the first instance.

Hopefully the show can build up year on year, and I have to agree with others.... The track action made

for something unique to this show.

Thanks to all for there efforts and I promise to keep the kids in check next time! God, I miss one camp

and they run riot! Lmfao...

Much love peeps... :)

For those of you that go to a show on a Saturday then come home and post on here that it was not up to your expectations. How the hell do you think the show organizers are ever going to build a show when you bunch of idiots are putting people off going on the Sunday. this is the firs show put on by the magazine and I think they did a fantastic job, yes there were short falls but auto jumble ETC is thing that they want to bring to the show. Stoneleigh is a long established show and was built up over a number of years, this was done when there was no internet so a few short sighted idiots could not help to bring a show to its knees over a short period by posting on forums like this. Instead of posting negatives why not post the positives or better still not at all.

Calm down fella. For my part I posted what I thought. I will always post what I think and not feel that I have to post something that will appease. I recognised the positives by praising the effort made by our club on the stand. I drove 60 miles to get there, was disappointed, went home. If you don't like my opinion, fine, but don't call me an idiot for my honesty. Jeez, sometimes this forum...

Me the wife and a friend went Saturday arrived around ten left around four. First thought were there was not a lot of stalls in the main hall! Rhocar area was well turned out and we spent time talking to people and asking question. We only watched two minutes of racing due to a crash right in front of us and the race being red flagged so went for dinner.

To sum up spent over two hours in the main hall (must of been more stalls than first thought) spent a round two hours with Rhocar club and a hour for dinner and racing and an hour walking around all for the price of £10 for three people, the two minutes of racing was well worth it compared to some events I’ve been to and paid a fortune for. Yes there could have been more stalls but these things after start somewhere and the more support they get the better they get.

Look forward to the next event we can get to

Steve

Only. Went on Saturday due to work. took my grandson for his 1st show he loved it and now wants one himself . As for the show great . Only difference between this show and the others were bits of tat being sold at the other shows that no one wants to buy . But could be the organisers trying to fill fields to make them look good . Cheers phil for a good set up on rhocar stand.

Phil is frustrated because he puts a great deal of effort in these shows (along with others). That said, I think your missing the point of phils post. His frustration isn't because you was disappointed with the show....it's because the negativity being posted on the Saturday could have had a negative effect on Sunday's attendance....thus potentially killing the show before it gets off the ground?

Me and swmbo read the posts on Saturday and very nearly didn't bother going today......but we did, and although there needs to be improvements made, I'm glad I went.

You're not an idiot for your honesty...but maybe you timing could have been better....just my penny's worth

I have a great deal of respect for Phil and the rest of the committee and duly acknowledged their efforts and that of the club at the stand. I don't see why I shouldn't post my honest feedback of this event in case it puts people off attending ... last year I did not go to Stafford (although it's only 30 miles from me) because of the feedback on the forum after those attended on the Saturday and slated it (quite rightly, it seems and I'm grateful that they ensured that I didn't waste my time). I stand by my comments; this show had little to get excited about, it was so very 'same old' and nothing like the Donington shows I used to attend when I first got into kit cars. Sorry, but that's just my point of view.

ok, the clan Bruce opinion,

The Rhocar mob, as always, turned out in force, club stand busy and looked good as always.

The main hall, as mentioned already, was pretty much a replica of Newark (you cant really expect anything else, theres only so many suppliers to the kit world)

The racing was a bonus and helped break up the day.

As mentioned, most of the people who meet at the shows only get to see each other at these events and we do like to have a chin wag, what do people want us to do? stand in a line with the cars not speaking, awaiting someone to possibly say hello? We are a club run by volunteers... not a corporate company with paid meeters and greeters.

Briilliant to see Mick (mowerman) and his good lady Stella exhibiting on the heritage stand, they both did the Robin Hood name and the club proud.

The weather turned out well, the saturday evening was full of giggles, although seeing a queue of people outside our caravan was rather disturbing... especially when we realised Owlman and helpers had put a WC sign on the door..... buggers :aggressive:

I think with a bit more thought and a lot of support from clubs and traders, this can only get better.

The cons.

Very little camping area...

The website states.. "Fresh, Fun and exciting..... a weekend of automotive action and family fun" when in actual fact there was sod all for youngsters.

Food was very poor but priced like the Ritz.

Admission .... i didnt take the kit due to coming to the show straight from work, we arrived at 6 oclock on the saturday evening and was asked to pay 55 quid for me, emma, an 8 year old and a 4 year old, i refused to pay and turned round ready to drive the 60 odd miles back home, we only stayed because 1) they dropped it to 40 quid which emma paid, i wouldnt have 2) i would have been divorced by my kids 3) i had looked forward to seeing the many brilliant RHOCAR members that have the ability to make me laugh no matter what mood im in (trust me they are good, i was running on 2 hours sleep over a 30 odd hour period so my patience was non excistant)

So to sum up, yes this show could, with a few tweaks, become a good contender, however, if the pricing dosent change i will not be attending again.

was disapointed that the members I saw were not in a very sociable mood and not interested in anything only chatting among themselves.I did speak to the only person I recognised who seemed totally uninterested

Well, if it was me, I was still evaporating brandy from my blood stream until well into the afternoon, so wasn't overly coherent.

Bear in mind there are a range of personalties of individuals within the club, who may be shy themselves. Did you speak to more than one person?

A good time was had by most!

What a cracking weekend... :clapping: :clapping:

This show can easily become a major contender for best Kit show of the year, but this will take time.

Yes I agree with the points of costs etc as being a major issue, and also the lack of traders/ other entertainment for family. These are things which can be changed , and I am sure will be for future shows. What was refreshing to see was that the CKC guys were going around the show, and actually asking for opinions/ suggestions and listening.

This was their 1st year and was perhaps more of dipping a toe in the water to see what the reaction would be. Some big mistakes were definately made (Lack of camping area, bogs, £ etc) A major learning curve for them I am sure, but one which I think will sorted fairly quickly.

What really make these shows though for us Kit owners is the club camaraderie. Great company, some very nice cars to look over (and plenty of straw...! My ribs will be aching for weeks from laughter).

If CKC do act on what we have told them, then this will definately be one of the best shows in the coming years.

Many thanks to Phil and the committee members for the work they put in. Great weekend :drinks:

good show, great time with the RHOCaR members, as said it's the organisers first attempt, they got it mostly right and now have something solid to build upon for the future.

Really big thanks to Phil and his army of helpers who put it all together for the rest of us to enjoy and then still had the time and energy to play endless hay based japes on each other, fantastic effort boys and girls.

first show for me so i have nothing to compare it to,that said the rhocar stand and turnout was very impressive completely eclipsing all the others.the hall was interesting enough but i only managed to spend 15 quid on circlip pliers there wasn't much else i needed.very much enjoyed the racing both days and the autotest demos were brilliant.didn't get to socialise as much as i would have liked due to my family being in a particularly needy mood probably due to the lack of things for kids to do.would definitely go again.
