had shaun from ms tunning out this morning to tune the car was going really well so well that i enabled the vvt wow wot a difference that made until i hit the rev limiter then started missing and i have lost compression on cylinder two ah well head off and see wot the damage is

No way, did you have any history with the st engine or was it just too much whilst tuning (assuming) rolling road. They can be very harsh for any car.

Correct static cam timing is critical. Bit of leeway on the inlet. Very little on the exhaust which is sad because there are good gains to be had from exhaust cam but only about 4 degrees to play with. My current ST engine has tiny witness marks in the top of the pistons from the exhaust valves and I did have them six degrees at one stage. Can't remember if that was advanced or retarded but it made for a very risky few extra horses. Retarded I think?

well wipped the head off whilst there is some marks on the bores they look consistent so did the petrol on valves and you can see number two is leaking DSC_0287_zpszqstyj8o.jpg

so will take the valves out of number two tomorrow and see wot the prob is if its a valve seat then cheaper to get another engine
