Exhaust gasket gone? If you hold a thin piece of tissue paper in a pair of pliers & move it around the exhaust gasket do you see the paper flutter around one in particular?

    Wheel Stud Length

^^^ Got the wheel nuts that came from GBS & it looks like they're deep enough - will double check, but good thought. Now on to changing the wheel bearing for the other side - done a few of those in the past so should be ok.

Don't think the price is too high, shame you haven't time to keep going with it - what you've done looks good. Best of luck with the sale

    Wheel Stud Length

Great thanks - I'll be counting turns when I get the half shafts back in then (hope its over 10 after all this!!)
  20. So go on then, what did we get? I'll kick things off: deodorant (predictable), Thornton's toffee (nice) & Dr Who box sets from the re-launch onwards (Excellent!! - good job I've got a DVD player in the garage)
  21. There's a Snow Trac in storage at the place where we keep our Tin Tent, must resist asking if it's for sale, got a Zero to build, a '59 SII Landrover to play with before I take on another toy!

    Wheel Stud Length

Interesting that - I actually wimped out & had a chat with my local indy yesterday (that looks after our other cars) after sheeting another stud. I took the driveshafts out of the Zero & dropped them in. They did basically the same as you - they reamed the holes out a little, then pushed the studs through with their 25tonne press (& apparently blew a seal on that!). Pardon my naivety, but in your example above, does that mean that 8 turns (12/1.5) is the minimum number of turns required for engagement? While they were doing the studs, they also noticed that once of the wheel bearings isn't running very smooth so guess what's just been added to the job's list!
  23. It's more finished than mine!
  24. Just finished reading it (might start work soon!), it's really helpful as a check guide.
