  1. Remember you can't (easily) cut down toughened glass. You might be better with the Midget frame and then cut a laminated screen down off something else and make the frame fit it.
  2. If I was doing this, I'd look at an MG Midget screen and posts.
  3. Those early Sherpa were built terribly. I once saw a bloke pull the roof off one with his bare hands and then afterwards, when it drove off. One of the back doors fell off!

  7. Next Wednesday, 25th November, 7pm onwards, Malt Shovel Pub, Coventry Road, Nr Stonebridge, Coventry, CV7 7HL https://maps.google....ingdom&t=m&z=15 Entrance to pub car park is off the A452 Chester Road heading North 50 yards from the island. This is out last meeting of the year as we don't meet in December. If you can't make this one, hopefully we'll be seeing you at the post Christmas Meal in January.
  8. When I was an apprentice at GEC in the 80's, we had a fleet of BL's finest as company cars. This included Ambassadors (great for shifting big things around in), Morris Ital's (deadly in the wet), Triumph Acclaims (not that bad, but basically a Honda that a crack team at Canley put new badges on) and we had a single TR7 that we used to happily drive around like lunatics. One of the other apprentices managed to write the TR7 off on Coventry ring road and after that we weren't to drive company cars anymore - can't think why?
  9. The Austin Ambassador was a proper wedge shaped turd.
  10. They don't design the lamps so the bulbs are deliberately difficult to change. The position of the bulb is determined by the optics of the reflector and the shape of the lens, these are driven by the style of the car. The engine probably fits in several different cars, everything under the bonnet goes in any space that's left over. Also there's minimum clearances between under bonnet hard points and the outer surfaces to meet head impact requirements. If getting a better safety score means the bulb is harder to fit, then that's what will be done because safety and not ease of maintenance, sells cars.
  11. Going back to the basics, isn't the main reason people want injection heads because they'll run unleaded fuel as standard and thereby save the cost of having hardened seats fitted to a standard. Granted they probably do flow better but I think this is really a secondary consideration. Getting heads flowed and bigger valves fitted is all well and good but, much as I'm a fan of the Pinto, it's still only got 2 valves which must impose some limits. Surely Zetecs are at a stage now that their cost per bhp makes them a far more cost effective option where you're not limited by class regulations or the desire to wring as much as possible out of a SOHC. Complete engines are available for little more that the cost of a head skim and 3 angle valve grind. Apologies to alex for the thread hijack - good luck with your hunting.
  12. I've seen your build thread on RnS - you should post a link here, I think it will generate a lot of interest and some good comments. A re-body of a kit is progressive thinking and maybe others would be keen to follow your lead.
  13. Presumably you could re-register this as a body conversion with just an VIC inspection and have the V5 changed to something like 32 roadster, and keep the RH registration.
  14. 4 kits and around 20 people there, not bad for a damp evening in October.
  15. 67 bhp should get you to Kiddy and back and that's all that matters. Roll on your re-retest

I don't have a problem with this because they're not for me. I'll explain the situation to my man.

  19. Can see Syria on there - which is a shame.
  20. It's at the sprint circuit, not in the village: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Curborough+Sprint+Course,+Netherstowe+Ln,+Lichfield,+Staffordshire+WS13+8EJ,+United+Kingdom/@52.7065676,-1.8018149,16z/data=!4m6!1m3!3m2!1s0x487a086b7ec8b8b3:0xf7eb750e711ddf66!2sCurborough,+Lichfield,+Staffordshire+WS13!3m1!1s0x487a08728f641379:0x403faad9bef0fffb?hl=en Access is off Wood End Lane to the North of the circuit.
  21. Good publicity for the club, but you've got to ask why the best supported club at Stoneleigh, only made page 15? I'd have thought the front cover was more appropriate.
