  1. My design but unfortunately not my welding.
  2. Think all Florin's switches came from CBS & yes have had one ON-OFF-ON switch fail controlling the driving lights ( 2 x 55 watt halogen) Put that failure of one make contact down to the dash gets wet if raining & condensation in frosty weather. All the power required in Florin is via relays ( Ford from donor ) so switch overload is not the problem,as said all others O.K. During this enforced period of kit idleness we have had corrosion problems on the column stalks, but all cleared after a few operations & again they all feed just the control relays. Couldn't afford £15/20 /switch when building Florin --- spent all the "spare" cash on bling wheels & exhaust
  3. One relay & a push to make switch is all that is required to control any number/wattage of fog lights. Connect lights & one side of relay coil to relay output live, Other side of lights & coil to earth.Feed to relay from ing. live Push to make switch is supplied from main dip/main beam supply & feeds coil live side. When fogs required press switch, relay coil energised & remains so when switch is released because the relay is now closed; when ign or lights are switched off relay will drop out & it need the push switch to be closed before fogs can come on again. Can probably be test wired on the bench quicker than I type, any old ( working ) relay will do & a push to make switch. Done for little or no money depends on your "may come in handy box." NOT a flasher relay -- stupid boy.
  4. Measure the voltage across the battery when cranking ( a minimum of 11 volts I would suggest is O.K ) or ask a friend with jump leads to connect his battery in parallel with yours while cranking ( keep his engine running at a fast idle.
  5. When were these pictures taken, Dave?

    Newbie 2B

We are up by the Tamar so only just in Cornwall, the natives all seem quite friendly since our move from Hampshire last year. Been out in our car with the local MG Car Club (before CV ) great bunch who don't mind a kit in their mist, they do not do sub 4 sec. on their rambles around the country lanes which make up a frightening lot of tar-mac down here.

That brings back memories, the only way to see the ground & get a reference of where headed was to look over your shoulder & back to the tail.

    Newbie 2B

Some-one else in Cornwall, in my age group & a maybe 2B owner. Would invite you over for a coffee & a chat, show you our 2B & explain what we did on her build & IVA in 2011. BUT we can't ---- the bug lock-down has been extended for another 3 weeks, maybe see you when we are allowed out again. Which part of Cornwall are you hiding in at present?
  9. Dan, what I have is the Clarke Foam rubber matting, works out at £10/M2 they come in a pack of 6 with yellow edging if you wish to use just as mats. I covered the entire floor at my old workshop but back then I think I only paid around £6 a pack --- memory fades or that is what I told Sylvia they cost.
  10. Not good for the axle stands & jacks, they need a ply board underneath but great for your feet & especially your knees. Gentlemen I recommend ---- Machinemart interlocking rubber tiles. They are hard enough to drive over & smooth out an un-even floor. Bought them 2006 for my workshop in Hampshire & brought them down to Cornwall, fitted over a poor concrete floor & still good condition; apart where the weld blobs have landed. ( The material melts leaving same size hole as the blob --- no flame ) They are cheap enough to do a large area.
  11. Why did you not use the garden fence as your other " wall" ? Ridge in the middle & rain runs off each end.

    Watch & enjoy

This is what we did back in the 80's for 6 years. Channel 5 @ 18.00 Two hours of peaceful cruising, without "presenter & idle chat " hopefully.
  13. Well I played the complete RHOCAR selection last night, took a lot longer than the planned 60 minutes but hey what else would we be doing ? All the tracks I recognised were great ( as always ) some of the others woke old memories & a few didn't work for me; but that was the object of the coloured list; listening to tracks other people remember. Someone else to suggest another theme ??
  14. Sorry mate didn't realise that was a PF track --- so often I like music & don't know who/what/when it was recorded as I'm mostly listening in the workshop & ears just pick up on the music not the artist.
  15. You just carry on playing David, don't want a digit lost in the works.
  16. Hi David & Trev, could probably add dozens more colour tracks --- rack up the above, listen to it all & then start a new list. Maybe a different theme -- street/place names --- numbers --- girl/boy in the title.
  17. Not to be driven in the " Purple Rain" though Bob.
  18. Play list for the Rhocar juke box Sister golden hair America Golden Brown The Stranglers Perfect Blue Buildings Counting Crows Green Manalishi Fleetwood Mac White Room Cream Brown eyed girl Van Morrison Red red wine UB40 Fuzzbox Pink Sunshine ( back to front but I'll let it go -- maybe incoming from Mark though ) Purple Rain Prince Paint it Black Rolling Stones Brick in the wall Pink Floyd ( can't think of an ABBA colour, Mark ) Brown Sugar Stones Man in Black Johny Cash Blackbird The Beatles. Late entries welcome.
  19. Good point Mark, I too drilled the roll bar to hide the wire running down into the boot; so one hole for cable & two more for fixings ( provided they are in line with the run of the tube ) will make no difference to the roll bar strength.
  20. Same problem with Florins hi red brake light. Used a piece of aluminium ( top hat shape I think ) Shape to match light base & double sided tape for both joints should do the trick. Can post you a piece if I have some left -- just need to know the max dimensions of your lamp base -- if that helps.
  21. That's a collection of 14 ---- any more ??
  22. Just ONE record/track please Cheeky. Or some one my age will post " White Album" by the Beatles. You know it makes sense --- when the list is 20 tracks we can dial them up on U-tube or what-ever & all share each others memories.
  23. Hi all, I have been listening to a lot of music of late & after several evenings keep turning up the same old records of my youth. ( wax cylinders) Hope you will join me in composing a music list for us all to enjoy in future evenings in. Please post a record of choice -- WITH A COLOUR IN THE TITLE -- twenty colours should make an hour of listening Just one suggestion per reply please, to spread the selection as wide as possible. Looking forward to listening to other records which probably would not be on my personal play list. Regards to all.

    Fuel Tank Leak

If you decide to remove it -- ( & why not -- high days & holidays are a long way off ) the solution maybe to replace the pipes with compression joints ( 8 mm elbow ) silver soldered to the plate & just a short stub of 8 mm tube from elbow to flexi-hose. Working for a fix in situ will not work with that amount of gunge/rust arround the leak. Araldite may be another way if hot work is a problem, but for sure a larger contact area between fitting & plate would make it stronger.
