  1. Just had IVA and I had to route the seatbelts around the seat rather than go through the headrest, although the tester said I might have been OK through the seat it really depends on the mounting points.
  2. New reverse switch fitted, weights declared as required and new water proof fuse holder replaced. I have to tackle the emissions, still cannot find anyone local.
  3. I have called Malcolm but he does not travel that far, i will have to find someone local to Telford or just bite the bullet and borrow the trailer again.
  4. Good news if you don't need a DVLA inspection, when did this change?

    Iva Pass

Well done must be a good feeling building a car from raw materials.
  6. It's a fail, or in Keith's words not to the requirements of the IVA manual. I cannot fault Kieth, very fair and honest explained what the requirement was and it should be tested. He crossed reference every failure to the manual. Hell of a day the trailer lights failed (13 to 7 pin adapter faulty than blew car light lights), spent time fixing that problem in the end it was easier to get the wife's car to tow the trailer. A good point about caravan towing we always have a spare car with tow hitch. Failed on; 1. Metered emissions exceeding both carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon. 2. Reversing lamps - annoyed with this one because I tested all lights before going on the trailer bulb and fuse OK, suspect the switch. 3. Masses and dimensions, used figures from forum failed - need to amend declared weights. 4. General construction - fan fuse in engine bay by open to elements, need water proof housing and starter terminals need rubber covers. Overall happy with the results, only a small list to do and all easy to fix. I need to find a guy who can tune twin dellortos and travel to do the emissions or borrow a trailer again. Anyway thanks for you help.
  7. Right already to go, and the car wouldn't start typical. Eventually got the car started I think it was cold/damp all loaded onto Jess's trailer (thanks Jess), covered in tarpaulin nothing else I can do now. All in the hands of the test centre in Kidderminster, hoping for some good weather. I am being positive so I'll give an update on the failure list tomorrow night.

    Sorn

IVA Tuesday, SORN will have to wait for a year although I have list of winter projects.
  9. We had these on the caravan try http://www.caravan-c...Products/EL506H Looks the same, we had a few accidents reversing.
  10. IVA in a week, full tank of fuel and tool kit in tin top. What else should I consider taking to the test?
  11. Well done, good result I'll see Keith on 5th Nov for my IVA.
  12. IVA date 5th November, because of test station availability and work commitments. Going to use trailer and tarpaulin due to weather.
  13. I wish i started a build thread, i have loads of photos and ideas.
  14. Fitted the Cartek in about 15 minutes, works fine and very easy to install. Instructions are very comprehensive for the majority of switch types, rocker, savage, toggle etc. Highly recommended, no fuss and the unit will fit through the switch hole so no need to strip the dash with the rocker switch you do have to switch the rocker off then on again to power the fog lights. One less problem for IVA.
  15. Cartek kit delivered today, only the size of a 50p with four wires I will fit this weekend.
  16. Hope it goes well, still waiting for a date. Do you remember how he tested the fog lights?
  17. Much better, hopefully will open the club to other makes. Are we doing the same for other branded goods, membership cards, t-shirts, club banners etc.
  18. IVA paperwork and payment already completed, just waiting for date. I am going to buy the Cartek kit just to be on the safe side, in the big scheme of things the price is nothing compare to how much I have already spent on the kit.
  19. So true....he forgot to mention certain other government departments.
  20. I had a call from IVA technical people today challenging my engine number and declared top speed, they were OK about the engine number when I explain the donor was a South African ford sierra import. The top speed in the handbook is documented as 87 mph but this was too low in their experience, they want to know the top speed of the kitcar fitted with the 1.6 crossflow. I said I don't actually know, what would you expect? He suggested a figure that was acceptable. Why do they need to know top speed? I understand max rpm, but not top speed.
  21. Hi Chris, Unlucky a good result for 2B, you will be on the road soon. Still waiting for my test date at Kidderminster.
