  1. With safety specs on (H&S) looking down the carbs do you get fuel when you operate the throttle? If yes ask another person to turnover and spray manifold with carb, brake cleaner. Maybe it will fire, alternatively a bit of easy start down the carbs (I know most people don't like using easy start).
  2. how long does it run for before cutting out? Does it only run when held against the ignition (starter engaged, normally position 3)?
  3. Nearly 6 clocks (ETB) with GBS fibreglass dash. Mark
  4. I live in Telford in the final stage of a zero build. If you need anything just ask.
  5. Found the fault ballast wire in the original sierra loom was faulty. Coil OK on start up with battery voltage, once started ignition switched to 9 volts but the ballast wire resistance was to high only 5-6 volts was getting through. Found it by running jumper wire (fused) direct from battery to coil. Thank you for your help.
  6. I have the sierra loom try this idea to fix the fog lights much easier and quicker than fitting another relay. http://www.rhocar.org/index.php?showtopic=35611&hl=
  7. I did take the fuel cap off, willing to try anything right now bloody frustrating and no diagnostic EOBD plug.
  8. Thanks for the hints and tips, I'll test on Saturday and provide feedback.
  9. Background, kit car almost ready for IVA. Ford xflow with Accuspark coil, distributor, leads and new plugs, fitted with facet high flow 2.5-4 psi electronic fuel pump (black plastic model). It is fitted with twin dellortos and piper air filter. Using sierra wiring loom. The car has been running for months including on tick over and high revs on driveway to check cooling system and driven on private property to test brakes, steering etc. However recently it has an intermittent fault which I cannot pin point due to engine stopping before any readings can be obtained. So engine starts fine, runs for 30 seconds to 1 minutes then stops, immediately switch ignition off then the car re-starts straight away with no delay. Checked so far; Fuel OK 15 litres in tank Battery voltage low so on charge for a few days Spark upto spark plugs OK used LED spark plug testers Gunson colourtune - right colour not rich or weak Fuel pump does not cut out and whilst I have not used a pressure gauge, pumps well into container and then thumb over pipe indicates good pressure, plus as said before it has been running very well. Also check fuel chambers in carbs all OK Tested coil and replace coil with known good coil. Thought ignition relay but tested and even bypassed same fault occurs. Could be dizzy electronic module fault - not sure how to test except it does produce a spark. I can return to accuspark for testing but thought I would check for other ideas. No rush working away from home for a few days, next garage time will be the weekend. Any advice appreciated thank you.
  10. After iva i will lift scuttle. Thank you
  11. Cheers Simon, I have some scrap metal.
  12. Used them for some parts - no problems always willing to help.
  13. Thank you I have some heat shrink covers that I'll use once the tracking has been adjusted.
  14. Thank you for your feedback and comments, list of actions; 1. Remove number plate mounts 2. Check radius on headlight brackets - more glue and trim 3. Cover TRE's - theduck please explain abbreviation? 4. Handbrake - needs adjusting 5. Boot hinges - off mini hoping they will be ok and all edges rounded 6. Wing mirrors - had a little vibration on road test I will fit plate 7. Bonnet - called GBS and this is normal. I have trim under bonnet edges which has lifted the bonnet, may have made the issue worst. I will fit trim under scuttle to lift to the same height 2nd question is it worth getting a pre-MOT before IVA?
  15. At long last, with the exception of a brake test, emissions and sound test I believe I have finally finished building. Please review, criticise and provide feedback on any points that need to be resolved before I apply for IVA test. Also do you think it is worthwhile going for a pre-MOT test before IVA?

    Dvla Vin Check

I spoke to a nice lady in DVLA Birmingham and she took a few details then issued me a new VIN in a letter 3 days later. Going to apply for IVA in the next few weeks, hopefully I will not get any issues.
