    Drive Shaft Vibes

I've just had exactly the same problem. Initially I thought it was the gearbox because the vibration was only in 2nd and 3rd. I was lucky to catch it before the UJ let go and wrecked the transmission tunnel. I had to cut the floor away to allow the prop shaft to clear the diff. Once out the front UJ was completely cream crackered and the rear one was replaced at the same time. Once the car was off the ground it was only a couple of hours work. Richard at GBSC has some replacements and he and John spent time showing me the correct way to fit them, all before they had their tea!! Fantastic. Sorry I cannot supply a part number but give Richard a call. PS. Thanks Richard and John for your help, back on the road the next morning.
  2. "if Phil can get it to Me so raising an other £170 for the air ambulance." Can I help with this? If Phil and I meet up Mo and I can taxi him down.
  3. Thanks to all, we had a great time. The Pig man was someone we had not seen for well over 25 years. Small world huhh! BTW Steve I think you will have to find a shorter version; you may have to modify the kitchen or extend the front if you are going to install that one!!
  4. We will join in from one of the lay-by's as you come up the A46. Are you leaving the Hobby Horse at 09:30?

    Show Dates 2010

If you talk to the guys on the gate and explain what you are doing I guess they will let you park on the campsite. I'm sure gate give passouts so you could get into the show then move your car to the hotel and either I or someone else will pop over and pick you up. You pay to get in after you have parked up. When we got to the show on Sunday morning I explained my car was parked on site overnight and I was let in for nothing. Still had to pay for Marilyn though. I told her I would bring her a bag of crisps and a bottle of Vimto but she would not wait outside for me!!

    Show Dates 2010

Hi Jon, Which hotel are you staying at for Newark? Marilyn and I are staying at the Premier Travel Inn Here. Last year Steve, Leslie and ourselves got a taxi back to the hotel after the BBQ and back to the show ground the following morning. We left the cars on the camp site. Derek.

    2ltr Efi Pinto

I had a similar problem which was down to the earth on the TFI module having rotted away inside the insulation. I had all the same symptoms rev counter stopping working and the misfiring popping and banging.
  11. Sounds good to me, can you let me know the details of the B&B please? Tann Hill was fine but £80 (ish) per room per night was a bit steep especally as the breccie was a bit lacking. I will miss the Black Sheep though, I looked forward to recementing our relationship!
  12. Happy birthday Ian. Have a great day, enjoy a few and have one from us. Perhaps Oscar will give you a day off too!!
  13. Cracking idea Like it. Put me down for Rutland. Rutland is just down the road from me. Rutland Water etc Couple of places in Melton may be worth a visit.. Ye Olde Pork Pie Shop.. for several; pies that is. Also there is a car meet in Ashby Folville the bear could be seen with a few exotic cars. Perhaps collect some donations there
  14. I used a pad which I bought from Mountney. I lent it out several times but on the last occasion it did not find it's way home. Perhaps it may pop up here so you can borrow it.

    Does Anything Fit?

I'm only down the road so if you need refocusing on the build any time give me a shout. I will pick you up and remind you what you are doing it for. If I can be of any help give me a shout. Derek.
  16. Thanks for your well wishes. Had a cracking day: All Marilyn's treat. Went to the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham for dinner followed by The Strauss Gala Evening. Then stayed overnight in the Royal Hotel. So was able to sample fine wines as no driving. And neck a few beers later.

    Injection Manifold

Hi Allan. I have a spare one. There are no ancillaries on it IE injectors, throttle body etc. Another member gave it to me so its yours if you want it. Not too sure how to get it to you tho. Let me know. Derek.
  18. Home now. I have sent you a PM but will attach the document here as well. 2.0_injec_1.zip I found this very useful as it lists the output/resistance of the sensors. If you PM me your email address I can send the originals. I have just overcome a similar problem misfire and it was down to the TFI module earth lead rotting away inside the insulation. The insulation was still attached to the connector but the wire had disappeared so spotting it was impossible. Now I have fixed it I have noticed the spark is much stronger as well. If you have a fuel pressure gauge its no problem to test the fuel pump, but I don't. To see if it was working I removed the return pipe from the return side of the pressure regulator, put on a spare piece of pipe into a container and revved the engine hard. The fuel still ran from the regulator with no bubbles so I was fairly happy the pump was supplying enough pressure. Using a spare dizzy I have tested the system with an electric drill on the dizzy shaft. Spinning it up fires the injectors so you can hear a sticking one. It will also show if the spark weakens under load. Using this method I found (with a lot of help from the forum) a previous problem I had where the throttle position sensor was duff.
  19. Hi Steve, I am at work at the moment but will look later, may have some info that may help. Derek.
  20. Any chance of a photo of the tread pattern and / or the tyre size.
  21. I still haven't fathomed the mis-fire. Getting to the point of defeat, glimmer of hope though... A friend has spoken to a "more experienced" mechanic who says the injectors sticking has been known to cause that problem. So its evenings in the garage this week if I'm to join you on Sunday.
  22. We will miss seeing George at the shows, he seemed to be able to put himself just where the next snack was on offer. Our thoughts are with you, we are sure he will be sadly missed. Marilyn & Derek.

    Stafford Show

And my thoughts. My first show was at Stoneleigh. I was looking for a seven type kit on a limited budget so the 2b filled the need. I approached the owners club and received a very chilly reception, un-phased I went ahead and ordered one. Previously I had built a Banham Superbug which I needed to sell to raise funds for the 2B. I went to Donnington the following year in the Banham and stopped by the RHOCR area. Before I could introduce myself I was approached by a person (who I now can identify but wont) and was firmly told to move forward with slow jerky motion. I carried on with the build and finished it the following year not knowing about the forum and all the help there is available here. My first show with the finished car was Stafford, I was very apprehensive about attending but I was so proud to have completed my project I was determined to share it. As I drove into the showground I had no idea where to go but I met Tim who was walking to the sheds that owners could park their cars in (it was March and the ice was just melting) I had never met Tim or Sue before but the greeting I got was so warm and friendly I immediately felt part of a new family. I was only going to attend on the Saturday but because of the welcome I went back on the Sunday too. I spent both days talking to people who were either building or had built, to the point where I nearly did not eat the lunch my wife had provided. Since then I have seen quite a number of the people I spoke to on that weekend with their completed cars on the stand and that gives me a real “feel good” feeling. I’m not going to judge who does what well or not so well, I believe that the people who do become involved, do it because they want to and they want to pass on the enjoyment they have gained. I have “off” days and “busy” days and if someone approaches me on an “off” or “busy” day they may get an answer I’m not too proud of. Just ask Marilyn. I just want to thank the committee past and present for making the club what it is and if they want support/help I for one will be there. I don’t have the time to be on the committee but I really appreciate the ones who can make the time, using it in a way I can enjoy. And another thought; RHOCAR have won the trophy for the most support at Newark for the last umpteen years. It took a production car club making a special effort to take our trophy for 1 year. Enough said.
  24. Happy Birthday Chris. Enjoy whats left of the day And if you can read this you haven't enjoyed it enough. Marilyn & Derek.
  25. Car and Marilyn have just about dried out from the last run. See you there! M&D
