    A Great Day

That's a bit unnecessary and frankly a tad offensive mate. Not been a good day for us. (Although in fairness not as bad as Grahams).

    A Great Day

Hi Graham Sorry to hear this - and even sorrier to hear about the p**s poor service you received from the call-taker. The job should have been deployed to. Maybe the CCTV won't show identifiable faces but this gang has struck before and that all that copper is going somewhere. Round here we'd have sent a unit to you, plus SOCO but my team would have been round the local scrappies and using their powers to enter and inspect records would have at least given it a run.... makes my blood boil when I hear stories of crimes being 'written off' by call-takers with no knowledge, experience or even training in the investigation of crime. This is still a high-value theft (don't need to tell you that) so it warrants a proper investigation. Maybe they taped off the registration marks when they approached your home, but they wouldn't have risked a longer drive with the marks concealed - it would be worth doing a CCTV trawl locally, particularly if the van is linked to other crimes. Some CCTV system somewhere will have the registration marks - once the police have got that we can upload it onto the ANPR database so that the van 'pings' any camera on the network. After that we just sit back and wait for the motorway bods to reel it in and enjoy the moment. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Rich
  3. Oh dear. Someone's in for a nasty shock in a few months time down the IVA .....
  4. At least he hasn't advertised it as a Lotus 7 with a replacement body shell - remember him??
  5. Did you source one yet? Here's a cheapy on ebay that'll clean up and be good as new with some paint: Cam Pulley Back Plate

    Finished?

Nice one Bob! Good on ya
  8. Hi Jase Halfpenny Green. It's a fab little airport with a great cafe under the control tower. Just the place for anxious parents to sit for an hour or two enjoying a coffee and a bacon sarnie! My mates on the West Mercia air unit are also based there with the 'paraffin budgie' regularly wheeled out for the odd jolly. Do you remember that little boy who hopped into Micky Bigthumbs' RH one sunny October day? He's certainly grown up a bit since then! Rich
  9. I would imagine so; I seemed to be able to source all the sierra parts I needed from the local Ford dealer. Why not give them a call? Or you might just be lucky and find that someone on here has one knocking around their garage. Easiest way would be to place a 'wanted' post, but you'd have to upgrade to a full member for that. It doesn't cost much though and there are a number of benefits.
  10. Hi Rich The plate they are referring to serves two purposes: firstly it does indeed ensure that the belt doesn't slip off the rear of the cam pulley and secondly it incorporates a timing mark cut into the plate: Here's one on ebay, although you're buying the vernier pulley as well:Click
  11. Is this any good - 2B/04 chassis
  12. Daz, I dabble in fixed wing RC although these days I'm just the pit man / mechanic for my son who took days to reach a level of proficiency that took me years. Mind you he's into flying bigger planes now, and at 16 is breezing through his PPL...
  13. Only going on what I can see in the photo - but I can't see any tread depth on the inside quarter of the tread face around the visible circumference. A significantly worn shoulder down to the ply can cause a delamination like this. But I haven't got the tyre in front of me so I'll just leave it that I'm really glad that Dan and his kids are ok!
  14. Erm, hope you don't mind me pointing this out, but that tyre looks seriously worn on the shoulders and the likelihood of a delamination failure increases significantly when the tyre's as worn as that. The inner edge also looks seriously worn (possibly a tracking issue)- this is consistent with the exposed ply and fabric. I'm glad you and your family are ok, but this incident shouldn't have happened. Four news tyres of the right size and you will be safe as houses
  15. Hmm. Seeing as that's my birthday weekend I might just bring the road tax forward a month....
  16. Can't believe no-one snapped that up for a grand!

    Heater Box/matrix

I did both! Put the Sierra internals into the Mini heater box. It works brilliantly - much more powerful than the mini fan and yes, mine does sit on top of the tunnel and does not interfere with the (mini) wiper motor which sits just in front:

    Exhaust Gasket

Just something to watch out for If your set up is blowing between the manifold and the flange of the RH twin pipe exhaust it may well be because the flange has warped. The metal chosen for this is just too thin and bows with the pressure over time. I cured this my having a 1/4 plate welded to the original flange. HTH Rich
  19. Couldn't see anything but a blank screen at first; took a little while to appear for some reason. Glad it did - downloaded straight onto the iphone to share with others next week!
  20. Well what a day it's been. Shortly before midday today everyone I have every emailed or received an email from me was sent an message from my email account: "I'm writing this with tears in my eyes, I came down here to Madrid,Spain for a short vacation unfortunately I was mugged at the park of the hotel where I lodged, all cash, credit card and cell were stolen off me but luckily I still have my passport with me. I have been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all and my flight leaves in less than some hrs from now but am having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let me leave until I settle the bills,I'm freaked out and confused at the moment I really need your help.. I'll be waiting for your response so you can get help to me right now. I need you to help me out." For the record I am safe and well in sunny Telford and have never been to Madrid in my life. This email has caused me quite a bit of embarrassment (it was sent to, among others, a Chief Superintendent, two Superintendents, my local Dominos and the Chairman of the Robin Hood Owners Club and Register (who very kindly called to make sure all was well - thanks again Steve ). So if anyone else has received this email from me ... I apologise! I'm just a little hurt that not one person emailed back and offered to wire me some money!!!

    Car Cam

Got mine today and have had a bit of a play with it. Overall I would say it was very good value for money and it feels pretty robust although certainly NOT waterproof. Niggles - Switch and leds etc needlessly over-complicated and its difficult to see what mode it's in Driver is not compatible with windows 7 (although only really needed if using as a web cam) Usual japanese translation nonsense and I can't work out how to do the txt file thing to set the date/time - can anyone help? The picture isn't bad at all and it was very simple to transfer files to the PC via USB You can't argue though at a mere £14
  23. Yep, certainly looks impressive - almost too good to be true! At 14 quid you can't argue so I've ordered one too. We'll all look light right chumps if they turn out to be junk!
