  1. Got a picture of how yours is? Mine has a yellow wheel.
  2. Following my first drive of the car yesterday I found the clutch bite point was almost at the very bottom of the pedal travel, is there a way to adjust this?
  3. Been working in the car today, cut the cycle wings so they now fitand re ready for paint, fittes remote reservoir and bled the brakes, which bled perfectly first time and in total about 10minutes!! Then had a small test drive, I cannot wait to get this finished now
  4. David your experience sounds like bad car. The mx5 is a frankly brilliant handling car! Building a kit around one just makes it better! Though as you are going to go for a built car this matters little.
  5. David if you are buying a part built car, you won't need a donor car. If you are buying a new kit (which won't be a Robin Hood as they no longer exist, GBS is the current form and IMO there are better options for the money) then you will be better off was a Mazda mx5 as a donor.
  6. Thanks Paul. Has given me few ideas. My setup is slightly different but I can work a similar solution... I think.
  7. I have the roof down on the z3 every opportunity. If its above freezing and not raining / snowing. Oh and if swmbo isn't with me because she is a wimp
  8. Need to make the alterations to pass IVA as I need to raise the effective anchorage point of the rear harness mounts, which basically means run the harnesses over a bar on the roll bar, which in turn makes the roll bar structural. Unfortunately I can't get the seat low enough or rear harness eyes high enough to meet the required measurements.
  9. Currently my "roll bar" is really more cosmetic than structural, but as I need to add a bar to run my harnesses over (to raise effective anchorage point) I need to strengthen the mounting points to make it a structural component and so keep IVA man happy. Rear mounts look like this With these I intend to move the mount below the existing brace for the harness mounts as this should provide sufficient load spreading, I think... 30mm x 4mm x 880mm What I am stuck with is the front leg mounts which currently look as below, I hasten to add this not my handy work and something I have never really been happy with Thoughts on this so far are to add a load spreading plate (5mm thick and 200x100mm) on the otherside directly opposite from where this photo was taken as use the existing unused hole and drill a second In between the two horizontal bolts to add strength there, but not sure what to do about the wooden wedge an those bolts? I don't have the ability or tooling to make up a metal replacement which would seem the ideal Option? Last of all, how would you go about adding the required bar to this roll bar? Could I simply get a suitable piece of tube and bolt it between the front two legs or would I need to get it welded in? Thanks in advance
  10. I got mine from caterham, not Metal reinforces but cheapest i could find and good quality.
  11. Oh not too bad then if you got both for £24

Peter you have the luxury of carpet! Nothing but painted concrete here
  13. How much bikz?! They were selling "leather" gaitors and chrome rings at stoneleigh for £10, gear and handbrake ones!

Do everything you can while its on stands. It may be a good feeling getting it on the floor but working at such low level so much is a pain even for me and i think I fit into the young builders category (well under 30 anyway!)

    Newark 2013

Just confirmed I'm coming up for the day on Saturday, bringing my father in law as his birthday present (what a great excuse to get it passed swmbo!!) Unfortunately dont think I can persuade him to camp, still 4 weeks to try though!
  16. Just got to hope I can sort the pedal positions so i stop getting my foot caught on the side rail
  17. Perfect fit ;-) Wife sat in it today and didnt want to get out, apparently it was quite comfy. Shame she can't reach the pedals...
  18. Quick picture Also gone back to my mountney wheel as the sierra one is too big and runs on my legs. It also blocked the speedo which the mountney one doesn't, so just need to make a cover for that now.
  19. Fitted the front harness mounts and started making up the seat mounts, trial fit of seat and harnesses and unfortunately I think long boarder is right, I'm about 20mm short on getting the rear harness mounts high enough!
  20. Need to run my small wheel for IVA after all as the sierra wheel is too big, so it's up for sale. First person with a fiver in hand can have it. Prefer collection.
  21. Use photobucket and copy the img link and post it on here
  22. I know it's going to be close and will check properly once seats are mounted so can check measurements more accurately. If I haven't got the required height then I will have to reconsider my options, but that will involve as suggested redesigning te mounts for the roll bar and adding a cross bar to it for the harnesses to pass over to raise the effective anchorage point. Edit to add: recent IVA passes of monos have done so using similar reinforcement to the rear mount point as I have used.
