Pete, Sounds like its time for some serious maintenance on the engine bay........while you are deciding what to install next. Thats twice that I know of, a bit of tape has fixed it recently!!. Graham
  2. I just fitted some thin U section. Made to measure for length, super glued ends together and fitted before pop rivetting the whole thing in place.

    Cleaning S/s

Pete, Was going to say "bring it with you next Wednesday" --but have found out that I am away on Company stuff 14th & 15th. I am sure some of the others would love to give it a try on a battery drill. Definately need to do mine before Detling. Graham
  4. Stay over site? Long way for a day run. Any ideas Tom? Graham
  5. Richard, As one of the first, I had only one previous experience on a locost a month before mine. --same screen !! I filled the awning rail with a piece of spare wire. It happened to have ther right diameter and was just lying around the garage. With the awning rail too long I started the bend on the screen (about 1 foot extra on the end) this got it most of the way there. I was then able to fettle the rest of the bend on varoius diameters from house and home - (saucepan, can of beans etc). I had made marks as I went as to which bit bent initially and which I had to finish. Reversing the marking procedure ended up with a tight fit to the top of the screen and some legs down the side to trim off. The Surrey edge has a peice of coaxial cable in, it slide easily from one side across the whole width. Pop studs on the ends to fix to the screen pillars. The locost rail is screwed on in 5 places, this means holes drilled through the rail and nicks out of the smooth edge the surrey runs in. The locost doensnt leak just the ends of the feeder pop out these gaps when fitting. My 2B rail is only bonded on ( Tigerseal ) and has never given any indication of coming adrift. I can really heave on it .. Graham
  6. 348.84 What a waste of time. Lets do it again!!
  7. John Middle of June ?? We will all be in Le Mans, you could of course go on your own...Sat Nav not permittted. Graham
  8. Thats it John,,, Keep pushing and maybe we can get the SW end organised for us. I'm definately up for a long weekend. Its lodgings for 'er indoors, if I can get her to sit still in the discomfort of my 2B for the trip there.. Ha Ha. Graham
  9. Les I have a high pressure external pump and large filter mounted on the back of the tank. No swirl pot at all, and my 8 valve DOHC Efi has no problems. I have not run the tank below 1/4 full, so I suppose the tank itself is the pot. I dont mollycoddle it around bends either so there is plenty of splosh.. The pickup pipes were home made into the RH fuel guage sender. -- pipes straight down, original T sghape gauze filter at tank floor level, return about 1" up. Graham B

Graham, Are you in tomorrow for bits collection. ( sunday) wanted rear calipers and lobro halfshafts ( we may bid for more while we are there !! ) please give me a ring - mobile# on PM. thanx Graham (Thatcham, Berks)
  14. Hi, Anyone got a rear N/S caliper or both sides ---- Sierra disc rear end? ( mine was a Sapphire) Not for "the Phoenix" but another project. Thanx Graham
  15. You could be really flash , like Dan aldridge and modify the sierra boot catch to lock it down - spring pops his boot open electircally. Hope he passes his SVA today !! Graham
  16. Richard The other option is to throw away the RHSC gear change mechanism and make one yourself. My 2B with MT75 has the bottom end of the gear lever (original) mounted to a plate across the tunnel top. Doing this I was able to put the lever where I wanted it to be, not where a gorilla would need it, I also chopped the actuating bar and extended it a bit so it didnt come up under the dash board. This way nothing neeeds attaching to the MT75 box at all. Graham..
  17. Happy Birthday for yesterday Les, Whole engine - I thought it was just a new head. Graham

Dan, Super , tidy build. I dont think you will have any problems, once the few snags are completed. Everyone will be envious of the tidiest engine bay I have seen in a long time. Super cockpit and .......................What - an electric catch for the boot lid !!! Thank for the hospitality. Turn that Paranoia switch off. Graham

Well Done Almost a perfect result. Unusual for a cable driven speedo, but quite common for the magnetic pickup variety.. Move the sensor closer !! Graham
  20. Richard It really doesnt matter, its just a switch.. One end goes to earth the other is the light, power is applied to the other end of the bulb.. Graham
