  1. Thanks for that, if it doesnt get better after a bit of tinkering then a re-jet might be a good idea. Thanks for the info on jets. cheers
  2. hmmm maybe i'll check for airleaks and check the float while iam at it, it was a second hand carb so i havent bothered to open it up yet could probably do with a blow through anyhow. hopefully that'll do the trick. Thanks
  3. Hi, I think iam running a little lean on my 1.6 pinto as its not pulling as hard as i would expect and pinks a little. Ive checked the timing and can only think that it could do with a bit more fuel. I have a big air filter that is open all the way round so its probably quite likely ive diluted it a bit. Is there a simple screw to turn to increase the fuel on the webber 2v carb or is that a garage job? thanks

    Chassis Number

I made mine up before SVA (june 2007) and then went to the dvla after to do all the legal bits. Mine is therefore my initials-DOB-year of start-year of finish with a few x's in between to pad it out to the required 17 letters/numbers make sure it is either stamped into the chassis or welded onto a plate on the chassis, i only had it on a riveted panel to start with and they wouldnt allow it as too easily removed.
  5. Hi i live in lydney and have a 2b with the front wishbones if you want you can come and have a look at mine. I'll be about this week if thats any help.
  6. Hi, if your SVA man is like mine then you HAVE to put a spacer inside the tube to prevent the tube collapsing when you tighten the bolt. I just tacked a piece of steel tubing inside so the bolt could pass through. I then took pictures so the SVA could see whithout having to dismantle. something like this you might as well do it anyway if it is all dismantled anyway. HTH
  7. Thanks guys, although looks like it wont be the 2b i'll be taking as i now have to also pick up my parents on the same day. I really hate the car parks at heathrow they are such a ripoff... hope everyone had a good christmas
  8. thanks guys heres hoping it'll be fine, shouldnt be too bad though as my boot is huge as i have a custom tank that makes the floor flat across from the diff and she only has a squashy bag. Although i have yet to build the hood and screens for the 7th Jan when she gets in so that may be a limiting factor for the trip. In this weather without screens or hood it certainly would be a youtube job - "2 found frozen to sportcar..." merry christmas, i'll post again if i manage to take it and survive!
  9. Hi i was thinking of picking my girlfriend up from heathrow airport in the 2b but realised that i would have to go into the multi storey and was wondering if i would be left rocking helplessly on the down slopes as they are quite steep. Has anyone successfully negiotiated the car parks in a 2b??? i do now have a shorten sump and can make it over speed bumps now.... cheers
  10. If you have a stainless body and chassis just use a silicone sealant like the others suggested (i used a general builders silicone sealant) when you want to remove a panel you can just run a blade down the join to cut it without fear of removing paint.
  11. i wanted to do the same but ended up just using some nice button head hex bolts and you barely notice them, but if i had done it the other way i was going to glass fibre some tags underneith the cycle wing then bolt through the metal so you cant see them from above but i didnt have the time in the end. hth
  12. If i had left the laguna for any longer the exhaust would have removed itself in less than 30 secs probably somewhere on the A48. i hate welding exhausts burn a hole - fill a hole - burn a hole - fill a hole
  13. after having to lie under a renault laguna to get the leaking exhaust box off in the cold and wet i realised how thankful i am that my lovely lovely 2b has its exhaust on the side where i can see it and get at it easily should i ever need too I am now making a new laguna exhaust entirely out of weld wire it only weights 4x as much and costs £3 million pounds in rods but it will hopefully outlast the diff which i think is making a noise merry christmas
  14. Thanks for the replies, do you happen to know if it has the 3 yr warranty in comet? also does it have XP (i know vista is probably alright but we like XP and my "free" software probably wont run on vista )? I am right in thinking this is 64 bit processor, arn't I? is it worth the money for the specs it has (£480 after the £50 cashback)? i dont know much about dual-core processors and even less about 64bit. sorry for all the questions but its for my girlfriend who has been waiting for a month for one from studentlaptops and they have been so rubbish we finally said we'll go elsewhere, so now i have to find a really good one so i can be in her good books for a while merry christmas cheers
  15. Hi, um i think the processor is an AMD Turion 64 bit dual core 1.8ghz on the link i posted , not a celeron (which as you say wouldn't be quite so hot). It also comes with 2GB of ram. Ive looked at Dell but once you add on the extras like more than a 5 second warranty it gets expensive. The HP has a 3 yr warranty which i thought was quite surprising for a laptop as they seem to break in five minutes. Whats the build quality like on a HP? Ive only had a sony before but that is falling to bits. Cheers
  16. Hi, anyone had any dealing with HP laptops namely this one http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/Search...11&NoMapp=0 It looks reeally good value but iam unfamiliar with HP. any thoughts appreciated...

    What An Engine!

There is an old thread somewhere i started about mpg as i was also pleased at the pinto as i got 40mpg on a 1.6 carb. Although now i am starting to think iam running lean as its not as powerful as it should be, hmmm more power or better mpg difficult to choose when petrol is £1+

    Harness Mounts

yeah thats what i was thinking, although i did see a plastic cover on one of the sites i came across that may work. Sorry didnt save the web address and i think it was american again. I guess its a common problem for the "larger" american although give it a few years and some more Mac donalds and they will be available over here too... could almost do with some kind of smooth rivet to join them. Will you not get a problem with the join being on your shoulder though? or is it long enough to go past your shoulder.

    Painted Chassis

this one is a bit clearer although it has a crappy cover for the sva on the boot that has now been removed.

    Harness Mounts

Is this the type of thing you are after http://www.jbugs.com/store/merchant.mvc?Sc..._Code=UniBelts5 its the first one ive found so i think its american but there must be a uk version. The other thing is whether there is a modern car that has the middle rear seatbelt hanger from the roof that may work, although i dont know of any, someone may have a everyday car that they can look at for you or remeber one they have seen. hth
  22. Hi, just wanted to wish everyone a happy christmas and be captain sensible and remind everyone to drive carefully in these dark busy days. Sadly in the past month 2 people i know, one childhood friend and one of my brothers childhood friends, have both been killed in separate car/motorbike accidents. Although they were young (26 and 20 yrs) it is still a reminder for even experienced drivers to take that extra bit of care. I dont mean this to be a downer for people just wanted to keep this wonderful community safe. Merry Christmas to all (or whichever festival you may like to parttake in )

    Fuel Pump

Hi, is that a modified ford manifold? and if so which did you use?. It looks pretty cool. Was it difficult to build ie did you have to weld the Alu etc as i may just have a go at bike carbs in the near future Thanks
  25. yeah mine passed in june this year with the tubes welded to the back, although i had to cover the boot and up over the seatbelt mountings as they were "sharp". Because there is a bulkhead between the cockpit and boot the boot is technically external if left open so is subject to the external rules hence the failureon the bolts and nuts of the seat belt. Well thats what avonmouth failed me on, once it was covered it wasn't a problem.
