Plough Bar Mod?

Hi,

so now the powder coat has worn off the lower part of the plough bar i can bring myself to weld bits of it and just repaint so i was wondering if it is safe enough to cut and re-position the plough bar and reweld.

My sump and gearbox are about an inch higher than the plough anyway so i would look to cut mostly through the plough near the chassis and bend upwards and re-weld. Giving a bit more ground clearance and making it a lot easier to MOT as currently have to lift the car to slide their jack along the lift and takes 3 of us to do it.

Wont be able to remove the sump in situ anymore but hopefully won't need too.

Is it safe to do that? anyone done it?

I had the same problem with the plough and the rolling road. I jacked up the car, then put another under the plough and then lowered the car down slowly. I was able to bend the plough up by about 3 inches with no adverse effect to the engine mounts etc.

+1. Just done that on a new build.

No movement to any other part of the chassis or engine mounts.

Plough now just 1/2 " lower than sump.

Hight gained approx 2.5"
