Surrey top and Door Project

It looks really good.  I am just making one at the moment for my 2B and I think I will copy your idea of using the aluminium section at the rear.  I have had to put multiple straps on the back to keep the tension.

How do you manage to attach the press studs to the roof?  I use the tool supplied which you hit with a hammer but sometimes when I remove the roof the popper just rips off and stays attached to the car body.  If I look inside the popper the middle doesn't have that nice rolled look it looks like when Bugs Bunny puts a carrot in Elmer Fudd's shotgun.

Hit it harder 😁

Actually not joking - I had to put poppers in my roof (from SoftBits) and you do sometimes need to give it some welly to get a good rolled edge.

I've never had an issue with the press studs coming detached. Maybe it's your studs. Normally I just get the ones from Hobbycraft but for this roof I bought these and they seem fine too.

Hi @richyb66

I have the awning rail, ordered the material and straps so far. Please can you let me know what thread did you used?

Thanks MarkB

I use this which is on a big bobbin but the seller does do smaller sizes.
