  1. some info on lamborghini systems here
  2. i wondered if there was a thermistor built into the element circuit that limited current flow
  3. do you know if the heater is supposed to be on permanently when the engine is running? edit: http://www.lambdapower.co.uk/diagnosis/diagnostic_index.asp#q10
  4. I had a drive in an 8 cylinder focus the other day. 4 in the front, pinto in the boot Congrats on the sale Terry, and don't wait too long before getting the new toy
  5. could always tie in with fuel pump, if you did not want it to come on with ignition on

    Zetec Oil Pressure

did you use sealant / ptfe on the sender threads when installing? this would add resistance affecting the reading. Should be installed clean
  7. with my spare whiny diff i want to move the crownwheel away from the pinion by using the castellated adjusters on the side of the casing to edge it over slightly. I've paid a decent amount of cash to get an unusuable diff, so haven't got much to lose if i fail. With my current clattery diff, if the bearings are ok, i thought i'd try bringing the crownwheel closer to the pinion. Again, not much to lose as i don't fancy paying someone to give me another duff diff. It may be that the bearings are dead, causing the crownwheel to have sideways play, causing the noise, in which case i'll either bin or attempt replacement. However, i have not heard any bearing noise. Finally i'd like another spare diff if my attempts fail!
  8. I really need to do something about my diff, it's making increasingly noisy clattery sounds on neutral throttle inputs. I'm after a 7" flanged differential to suit bolt on driveshafts. I do have another diff which has been rebuilt, but i suspect the backlash is too tight as it runs very hot and is quite whiny. Does anyone have a diff bearing tool i could borrow / buy to have a play at adjusting it? I know they're available on ebay for about £30, but thought i'd check here first. Andy
  9. The south yorksish meet for May will be at: Red Lion Inn, Todwick, South Yorkshire Usual time of 7:30 on weds the 4th Andy
  10. I'm assuming you've re-checked your rockers / valve clearances could it be a crack in the exhaust? it might open up when warm, which could explain no noise when cold.

    Changing Cam Belt

Slacken the bolt and whack the pulley with a hammer to break its bond with the crankshaft. If you're lucky enough to have threaded M8 holes in the face of the pulley, bolt a piece of steel over the end of pulley and bolt, and unwind the bolt with a ratchet spanner.
  12. went to the tip last year, sorry!

    Could Be

    no, that's just your age...
  14. did you have the throttle fully open when doing the compression test? i think my figures were nearer 160-170

    Very Interesting

also reported. Very illegal and immoral.
  16. The first is a tool steel and is too brittle and unmachinable. The 316 might be too soft if annealed bar, or ok if cold worked. It doesn't say but i suspect not. The en24t should be fine, i assume it is supplied in a heat treated condition.

    Latex Or Nitrile

Nitrile are thicker but a lot tougher and probably more solvent resistant. Have used both, but latex don't last too long
  18. The south yorksish meet for April will be at: Red Lion Inn, Todwick, South Yorkshire Usual time of 7:30 on weds the 6th Andy
  19. Many thanks, we certainly had a great time, and looking forward to a very restful week. Got the log fire going, and having a beer or two now
  20. might be useful at park and ride locations? i think my mum has used that in shrewsbury (but check!)

    What Is This?

looks like a vindicator sprint in need of some love
  22. It can be done, but probably shouldn't. You'll need new wheel arches and bracketry front and rear. Probably spacers too. With the increased unsprung mass the wheel will not be able to follow the contours in the road as well, reducing grip. Reduced side wall size will make the ride harsher as well as losing grip. Heavily spaced out wheels / wider tyres will make steering heavier. Larger diameter wheel/tyre combo will make the gearing much taller, potentially reducing acceleration. Not much going for it in my opinion, stick with the 15s, much better option.
  23. the coil is soldered to 2 of the 6 pins. Presumably the pins are placed in position when the housing is injection moulded, coil is wound and soldered to those 2 pins, then the circuit board fitted afterwards. A weird choice not to solder them.
  24. The south yorksish meet for March will be at: Red Lion Inn, Todwick, South Yorkshire Usual time of 7:30 on weds the 2nd Andy
  25. a very good question. I suspect it's cost saving, the boards might be made on one production line / factory and then transferred to another for assembly, without soldering facilities and the setup / time that saves.
