    Bored!

Yes, it's my 2nd hernia op. I will be taking it easy, at least I don't have to think about going back to full time work only the more pleasurable work on the R Hood!

    Bored!

Sitting here after my operation yesterday. Won't be able to work on the car for 2 weeks and can't drive for 4. At least I have no excuse not to finish my wiring diagrams ready for putting into practice when I can get back in to the car! Rob
  3. Plenty of release oil the day or two before will help. As Simon B says, tension the puller and knock the centre bolt to jar it free if it's tight
  4. As regards the steering column cowl, I cut the dash and reinforced the cutout with fibreglass. Used a shaped piece of aluminium taped into the cutout as a pattern and coated with wax as a release agent. I will try and post some photos when I am on the PC (the iPad won't let me put photobucket links up)
  5. The fuel level in the float chambers will not be at the correct height if the carbs aren't installed at their designed angle, this will give an incorrect mixture.
  6. Looks like Amazon have sold out of the jack as they are now showing only those available from other retailers

    Brake Fluid

Brake bleeding sorted! Took about 0.75 litre of fluid and just over an hour to bleed the whole system from dry. I used my secret weapon to help with the bleeding - my wife! Now to see what tomorrow brings.
  8. Thanks for the links. Couldn't find the trolley but now have. Just ordered jack and trolly. I hope the jack is better than the sgs one that I already have. The company changed it as it was faulty from new but the second one started to lose lift shortly after the exchange.
  9. Renewed this week, now Blue as well! Online renewal worked well.
  10. My coilovers fit to the rear brackets on the 3A and are 180 lb. other club members recommended these and I also calculated the rate at that using the book "competition car suspension". The car has settled at the correct working position for the shocks. Road testing will confirm if they are correct. Dave at Dampertech wanted to supply me with 350lb but he was more familiar with the 2B and didn't realise there were different mounting points. After talking with him he sent me the 180's

    Brake Fluid

Thanks everyone for the advice. Looks like I've got a good weekend ahead of me!

    Brake Fluid

Thanks. Next question! What spec fluid? I have used dot 4 in the past but what about 5.1? On a dual system does it matter whether you bleed the back brakes first or the front brakes?

    Brake Fluid

Snapper, the system is dry as everything has been replaced with new. ( remote reservoir, master cylinder, pipe work and calipers/wheel cylinders) so I expect I will have fun bleeding this lot! I don't know whether to by a vacuum bleed kit?

    Thanks, will go with that!

    Brake Fluid

Quick question! How much brake fluid will I need to refill the whole brake system on my 3A, it has discs front and drums rear
  16. I have what I think are called "Tuner" nuts on mine, same size base and taper but have smaller splined ends. You use a splined tubular socket to get them off.

    Total Kit Car Live

Went to the Classic Car & Motorbike show at Birmingham NEC instead. Excellent! 1700 cars on show including GBS and other alternative cars. Decent autojumble. Rally Design, Burton Power, Europa Spares and others were there.
  18. No filler cap is supplied by Ford with the cylinder. As the cylinder is meant as a replacement part for a Ka, I think you are supposed to use the existing one that's on the car or you have to buy this as a separate item! Rob
  19. It's the brake cylinder complete with reservoir but no filler cap. I'll try to post a photo tomorrow. Rob
  20. New Ka master cylinder for sale. Only bolted on for mock up but never connected, changed mind! £15 plus postage
  21. I agree, bought 2 red seat belts from them. When they arrived they were different shades of red (different production dates). I rang them and straight away they arranged collection and delivery of a matched pair. I also had a problem with their black edge trim which has a bead of adhesive in it. The manufacturers must have had a problem as the adhesive was missing at parts of the length. I rang them and again they replaced it with no hassle. Their postal service is excellent! Asked if they did a discount for being a Rhocar member and they gave me 10% on the seat belts! Highly recommended. Rob
