  1. The danger is that no-one ( the DVLA, mot testers,or insurance companies) don't seem to be bothered that things are not correct, until something goes wrong ie an accident. This is when everyone will say that it is your responsibility and you are left with a massive claim to pay and the DVLA will seize the car as it is not correctly registered, Walk away from it unless you are buying it to put through an IVA without using on the road.

  4. Is anyone going to the Club Meeting at The Church Mouse, Waldridge, Chester-le-Street. DH2 3RJ,I will be there from 7-30pm hope to see you there.Fine weather is guaranteed so bring your kits. Alan
  5. You could always bond on some Bighead Fasteners and bolt them to your stays that way they are removable if needed. Sikaflex seems to be the choice of most to fasten on wings.
  6. This is how mine fitted ,I was limited by the position of the brackets but I am pleased with the result.
  7. Sorry I didn't post you the photos earlier but I have been away from home for a few days, hope this helps.
  8. A much cheaper way would be to paint or wrap the bonnet. If you fit some strengthening inside the bonnet it will help stop the catches popping off, my bonnet has two alloy bands following the shape of the bonnet which are bonded on with Sikaflex. I have also fitted stronger catches which are stopped from opening with R clips. If you want more details or photos just ask. Alan
  9. Harry just let me know that he charged the battery and put a gallon of petrol in the car today after last nights no-go, and it started, don't you just love kit-cars
  10. Hope to see you all at The Church Mouse, Waldridge, Chester-le-Street. DH2 3RJ at 7-30.Warm dry weather guaranteed.

    Non Starter

First thing to check is your earths, should be one to body from the battery and one from the battery to the engine, preferably to the starter mounting bolt. Both should be to a clean contact and tight.

    3 Years Work

I have followed your build from your first post and i have to say that the end product was well worth all the sweat and tears, a car you deserve to be proud of, well done.

    Pinto Engine Mount

Is it the type with 2 bolts on the chassis and a single stud through the mounting, if so I think you will find that Sierra 4x4 and cosworth ones are the same with Cosworth price tag to match.

    Bmw

So funny, up here it's the Audi drivers that own all the roads. car parks, bus lanes and 70% of all footpaths.
  16. Can you not get hold of a piece of alloy and make an adapter, countersinking the 110mm and nut and bolt (ot tapped) the 70 mm?
  17. I think the way the rain is coming down here you are doing the wrong dance!!!!!
  18. My Grandson has just been taken into the RVI hospital with a bad asthma attack so I may not make it tonight or might just be late.
  19. Whats that saying about all work and no play?
  20. Who's Going to the Church Mouse Next Wed.29th June. We need a good turn out to mark the passing of our beloved leaders noble steed. It has gone to a better place (Germany actually) where it will be hopefully restored to its former power and be driven in the manner it was intended. So lets have a good turnout to give Red7's Robin Hood a send off it deserves. Hope to see you all atThe Church Mouse, Waldridge, Chester-le-Street. DH2 3RJ at 7-30

    Not Starting !

You could try putting the original items back on starting with the coil, then cap then the HT lead from coil to distibutor to see if any of these sorts the problem. You havn't mentioned the rotor arm, has this got a good contact in the cap.Thats the trouble when you change lots in one go you don't know what causes the problem

    Seats

Hi, I run an Exmo and find that the majority of seats are too well padded to give a good seating height, what I have resorted to is to remove the seat padding and I have cut it to about 1inch thick, this gives me a seating level of 11/2 inches from the floor. I am going to try some grp shell seats to see how low these are in the future.

    Stolen?

I use a wheel clamp and immobiliser when parked on drive. I think anything that slows them down is a deterant, but if they want it then it is all too easy to take.
  25. If the car is on the drive it makes it so much easier to just use it whenever the sun shines to pop down to the shops using the scenic route, my car stands out all year round and has done for three and a half years just covered over when the weather is really bad and in use all year round and do'sent seem to have come to any harm. Keep it you know you really want to.
