    Bike Carbs

Yes mate, as Rich says all linked together. I drilled into each of the inlets on the manifold got a guy at work to weld a fitting into each hole then piped them together into "T" pieces and then to the Vacuum pipe on the dizzy. I just used simple plastic tubing, nothing fancy, and it works.

    Bike Carbs

R1 carbs on my Pinto. Using Dizzy, firstly without the vacuum fitted. Engine would not rev cleanly at the top end when I hit the go pedal. Piped up the vacuum and the difference was very plain. Engine revs throughout the range now. And when you think about it, it should, that's what the vacuum advance is for.
  3. Might be able to make this one.
  4. I,m working up in Sunderland Wed / Thurs so will miss this one too!
  5. As above, drilled and tapped the tube and fitted a grease nipple,. also a mod that locked the shaft and ensured that the bushes moved on the shaft and not the shaft in the stainless mount holes. You can just see this in the pic below.
  6. I'm working away for the rest of the week so will miss this one. Have fun!!
  7. Pintogogo. Have you checked the timing.
  8. If all that's been moved is the wheel to have the puncture repaired then something must have been disturbed. Has the sensor on the wish bone moved at all. The positioning is important. Mine picks up of the prop shaft to diff flange and needs to the close to the bolt heads.

  10. The problem is the sand and grit. The filter is doing its job. Find out why you have dirt in the system and clean it out. Could someone have put sand/grit in via the tank filler cap?
  11. The same problem has started for me using Chrome over the last couple of days. Still signed in after almost 24hrs and I know i did sign out. Always do. Will try clearing browser history now.
  12. Wife has other plans for me this weekend. (nothing that I need get excited about).
  13. I did apply and register weeks ago but got an e-mail to say my application was unsuccessful. .
  14. The stainless mono chassis models such as the S7, 3, 3A can suffer from cracking in some areas. The most obvious one and easiest to spot is where the front cross member is attached to the body sides. its no great problem to put these right, but they do need to be spotted. The South Yorksish area members meet at the Red Lion in Todwick ( just of the M1 junction 31) first Wednesday of the month, with several kits usually turning up. Pop along and have a chat!
  15. It's the build quality that is important. You will see poor examples of all the models. You will see good examples of all the models. So really what i'm saying is it depends on how the kit has been put together rather than it being a particular model. Mine is a 3A stainless mono, 18 years on the road and in better condition then when I first bought it.
  16. I can answer some of your questions. I swapped twin Weber 45s for R1 bike carbs for my 3A and got more for the Webers on e-bay than I paid for the R1s. Mine are on a Bogg brothers manifold and the trumpets do stick up at an angle and I had to enlarge the air intake hole in the side of the bonnet. Once they are set up they stay set up unlike the Webers that seem to need fiddling with on a regular basis. Thats the main reason I swapped. MPG is about the same. Performance is about the same, perhaps a little better. I have improved the smoothness through the rev range recently by connecting the vacuum advance pipework which involved getting four Ali branches welded to the manifold. This is all using the standard pointless type Dizzy. I don't know about the emissions as mine is on a Q plate and has the advantage of being visual only for emissions.

You need to find out why the angle is changing just for piece of mind if nothing else.
  19. Nothing wrong with being a bit different. It could mean you end up with a very distinct car.
  20. The new one has cracked across a bottom corner. So in all honesty its down to me not getting it quite square in the frame. Its still serviceable, just annoying.
  21. New windscreen that I was really chuffed about in above post now cracked. "*.@/?**/£@"
