Firstly, apologies for asking about my 'tin top'. As well as my 'hoodie' I run a 2009 Seat Alhambra 2.0 TDi sport. About 2 months ago it developed a fault which has since become worse. The driver's door appeared to be the centre of attention and faults appeared to radiate from it. I am reluctant to actually pin point this area as the cause of the problem as whenever any of us experience water ingress problems, it is more often than not the case that the source of the water leak will be somewhere totally different to the signs of water damage! So I am guessing the same may well apply to electrical faults. It began with electric windows not functioning correctly, especially the driver's door. The wing mirrors (no longer to be found on car 'wings') then began to work intermittently with central locking following close behind. This 'bad behaviour' was then followed by the battery running down far too quickly, with the most recent experience, the battery running flat overnight! The battery is 3 years old, has a 4 year guarantee and Halfords have checked it and given it a clean bill of health. Embarrassingly, I had to call out the RAC just over a week ago - and even they had great difficulty boosting the very sad battery back to life. This was then followed by the mirrors moving when the lights were switched on and when the driver's door was closed, the mirrors parked themselves. After much discussion, it was suggested that maybe the BCM (Body Control Module) was at fault or wiring to/from the driver's door was damaged. When the engine was switched off and the key removed, the dash was still 'live' and therefore perhaps something was still live thus draining the battery. An 'amp clamp' was produced and a 2 amp drain was measured ... we believe leakage of .02 would possibly be acceptable. By removing one fuse in the fuse box under the bonnet, the leakage became acceptable. So ... may I ask for advice please ... What the heck might be going on? What the heck does this fuse control? What is my best course of action ... other than taking my car to a Seat dealer and emptying my wallet? Photos in case it helps. Thank you guys (and gals)

Looks rather to me like oil containers with 'applicator' ... Just a guess though. Happy New Year.

I experienced a similar issue a couple of years ago not long after purchasing my car. When parked up, the immobiliser slowly drained the battery but the main problem turned out to be a defective alternator, so when the car was driven it drained the battery even further and wasn't charging it up as I assumed it would be. New alternator and heavier duty battery solved the problem. A good 12 volt battery should read higher than 12 volts ... I know, sounds silly doesn't it!

Makes my motorhome tour of the south of France seem positively boring ... have to see if I can keep the proposed dates for 2017 free! Delighted that it was a great success ... well done to all those who did the organising and 'donkey work'.

Oh burger!! I'll be in the south of France (motor-homing) ... almost tempted to drive back for the weekend! Full English AND pies over the weekend ... my loss ... at least I have seen no mention of any alcohol, so I won't have missed out too much!!! (As if)

I am obviously in need of padding on my seats, as I am suffering from a bad back since our return from the superb 'Wales Weekend'. It may be the result of something else but I am suspicious that the seats may be too blame ... plus my own posture of course ... At least I have been able to create time to sit in front of the computer and organise a selection of photographs. I've halved their size in order to fit more on this post but have saved the original should any be worth putting on the club Facebook page or added to Boys in Hoods. QUESTION ... why is the Facebook page not apparently used very much? It is a window to the world and could attract many new followers/members. Alan ps With the photos this size I'll make six posts rather than reducing them any smaller.

This was my first experience on the trip to Wales and what a superb weekend it has been. Thanks to Richy and Jackie, sorry you didn't get to finish your car Richie but for us the event was SUPERB ... many thanks for the organisation. Great 'beach pizza party' - never eaten so much pizza or enjoyed 'boat watching' quite so much. Took LOADS of photos ... even the final RHOCaR car, boat and trailer push, before joining in with the final push off the sand! Will post them next week as I find the time. Great event, great company and the car never missed a beat ... breakdowns ... what breakdowns?

I wanted to try a trustworthy group first and foremost ... then look further afield.

A very good evening all ... (A polite Dixon of Dock Green welcome!) My daughter/son-in-law, have between them driven their Galaxy into the ground! Unfortunately, their combined incomes have precluded them from having their car serviced regularly ... BAD DECISION ...and the only time it sees a garage is MOT time and the like of now - when things go wrong! They (I) have just paid a bill of £2000 to have the car MOT'd and have the turbo replaced, front discs and pads and rear pads all replaced and gearbox mountings changed. As they drove to work the following morning ... the cambelt broke and the resultant damage to the engine means a replacement is now required! Either that or sell the car and loose the 2K just spent. So, before a final decision is made ... does anyone happen to have an engine for this particular vehicle 'lying around' !!! I know, I know ... but if you don't ask ... They were due to shoot off to Paris in about 10 days ... looks as though they may be borrowing 'daddie's' car ... again ... to get them out of trouble! If that happens, I just hope that they don't finish mine off too! Thank you for taking the time to read this. Alan

As a youngster.I played a lot of football. I used to sweat a lot and would often suffer from cramp during the second half of a match. My father came up with a remedy that solved the problem ... but I wouldn't really recommend it. Both before the game and during the half time interval, I would drink salt water! Revolting ... but it worked. Eating crisps would have been a preferred option!

Hi all ... A mate of mine has put his Merlin up for sale. If I hadn't already got my 'Hoodie' I would buy it off him. I had to help him start it up about 6 months ago as the ignition switch/steering lock had been broken and the wiring to start the car would not function. The wiring certainly would need attention and some of the dash is below the standard we would like - but the car used to run extremely well. His advert is below: "Hi Guys,having to sell my Merlin Kit Car. Can't work on it any more! £1000. Newport Pagnell Built in 1994 but not by me. Wiring needs sorting, so a non-runner. 2lt Ford pinto engine About 3500 on the clock New canvas hood" The guy had the hood specifically made for the car. Give me a shout if interested and I'll pass you on to him.

If we get a dry evening, we should have light too ... far a change! Roll on summer.
